You should try to avoid completely blank textures, even if you are going for a simple look. The default pack isn't really simple by nature, and removing the shading won't change that. The key to good simplicity is not only using blank space effectively, but also focusing on color and design.
So this makes what... bucket fill pack #29,385,028,472?
simple =/= flat bucket fill. These types of packs are not appreciated around here because they take literally zero effort to make. Its great you want to make a pack. This is not how you start.

Actually, that literally is where you start: with a blank canvas. That's all this is, a big blank canvas of a single color.
Don't make the mistake of confusing "simple" with "banal". If you're interested in what a real simple pack is, we have a Contest going on right now. Check it out if you're interested in making a REAL simple pack.

Yea, technically, but I guarantee you, he started with the vanilla textures and smothered the single color over it. That is the reverse of what you said.
And when you are starting with a blank canvas, usually you intend to put things on it, where as in this case, that is not what is happening. The blank canvas was the end result, and not with the intent of giving people a starting ground.

See, I'm looking at this as someone who recycles canvases by painting over bad paintings with a base matte then retexturing them to make a blank canvas again. That's what I feel this is: taking a poor, though technically complete, work and painting over it to make a canvas again.
And yes, I know that's not at all what he intended but that's what was accomplished none the less.
But would you ever take those canvases and give them out, all while saying "Look at my art!"? Probably not. Because you and I know, that isn't art. (Never mind "modern art"....)

Exactly my point! A canvas isn't a finished product, it's a starting point. That's why I don't feel like this (or any of the other trillion or so "simple" packs that follow the bucket-fill convention) are real resource packs. These are templates, not works of art.
And no, modern art doesn't even count. Modern art has purpose and an artistic statement behind it... even if that statement is vapid and/or contrived.

ModeratorAt least. And in the time that it took you to type that several more had probably been created somewhere.
