Hey Guys! I'm new to the forums and I thought that my first post should start out with a bang. So, I have uploaded a Minecraft Forum EXCLUSIVE demo to MediaFire. This Resource Pack is still in development, though. I personally think I did a good job for a First Basic Resource Pack. Let me know what you think of it so far. Also, if you have any recommendations, be sure to let me know! Here are all the things that have have done so far.
NOTE: I am not providing pictures of everything because I want you guys to check it out for yourselves.
Note: The textures look the way they do because they are meant to have the type of graphics as Pac-Man and Sonic Pocket Adventure. (Solid color 8-bit style). Just remember that before you start hating.

This is only my first Resource pack. This is what I'm starting off with and then I'm going to get more complex in the future. And CopperCookie, You don't have to be so rude about it. Last time I checked you were supposed to show respect to others on the forums.

First pack is not an excuse. Ive seen damn near professional level work as a first pack. If this was your starting point, then its best to keep it to yourself.
Respect is relative. I don't think he was being rude at all, but then again, I am a cynically blunt person myself...

Cast aside your festive doylaks: dragon stuff is about to happen.
Multiplayer is lonely once you understand how it actually works.
My pack is my first and only, while it's not the best I never played on it being my first pack for anything that is below standard
My own pack is also my first and only. I've been working on it for almost 4 years. I released it once back in 2011, but not really publically updated it since because I don't feel it is ready for release. I have put many many hours into it, and still it is not overly great. But I have been working hard to make it the best I can, and making it something that I am proud of.

b>Myth: Making a simple bucket-fill pack is OK for your first texture pack.
This is only partially false. Making a simple pack is a good way to familiarize yourself with how minecraft textures work and were they are place. However, unless it is amazing or you want feedback on how to make it better, don't bother posting it.
This will not only annoy everyone, you will also receive a large amount of borderline flame posts from the community. Simple bucket-fill packs have been done to death. When you make a pack it is best to try to do something that hasn't been done before. Either an idea that had been attempted but not well, or something completely revolutionary.
Apparently you didn't read. It clearly states "The textures look the way they do because they are meant to have the type of graphics as Pac-Man and Sonic Pocket Adventure." And there are people who like how those games looked, so, I'm trying to bring back that retro style set in those games.
The deal is these flat textures have been done to death. We see several EVERY DAY. You're not bringing back anything, you're doing what people have been doing sense ALPHA.
Flat colored, blocks with removed shading, mobs all solid color yada yada.
No really... it has been done before, to the point these packs are SPAM now. Planet Minecraft use to have over 20k of these before they started removing them for the same reason.. and wow just searching for examples there now down to 2k. woo they been clearing that site out thankfully. When 80% of the packs posted are this exact same thing, yeah it's about time they started cleaning that site out. Downside is it makes it a tiny bit harder to locate exact examples.
So no.. please no. It has been done, far FAR to many times already. You're not bringing back any retro style, just stuff that has been done to death that we see several times every single day with the only variance being what colors they eyedroped from default, if there outlined, solid, or removed shaded.
a.k.a to give you an idea. I just downloaded 4 random simple packs off PMC, and it looks like all the reaining simple packs have been up for over two years.
Yep.. two years... anyho..
That there, are the basic styles of EVERY simplepack out there. Solid color, Solid outlined, no shaded, and no shaded black details.
Most are one, or a mix of all.
Why are these packs seen as spam? Because people could download any one of the simple packs that have existed for years, slap their name on it, and call it their work, and how would we know? We cant.
From the looks of just your screenshots I say you could have stolen the simple mobs that was posted two years ago, I mean you are using the exact colors, and some of the blocks from both simple craft (or one of the 1000's of packs using that name) and simpily crafty, or cartoon craft, or GSJ's pack. a.k.a the very packs that have existed for a few years now and also where I got those above textures from.
You see now? It has been done, it has been done to death, these packs pop up every day sense minecrafts ALPHA years.
I'm sorry, but that is fact and that is why these packs are spam. I don't have to download your pack to even see this, I can see from your screenshots that your textures are the EXACT same ones that have been posted in these other packs from TWO YEARS AGO.
Yeeeeeah, I don't care what you think. I will finish my resource pack. And I will put it up for download. Nice try but you can't deprive me of my right to make something on my own. Don't like my post? Then ignore it. It's as simple as that. That's exactly what causes pointless arguments in the first place.
yay! a texture pack that have been redone a billion times!!! can't wait! LOL
Yep this.
There really isn't any point for you to continue this. Just download any of the over population of these packs we have and theres all the work done for you. You're not making anything your own, you're just striping the details out of the default textures that again, has been done far more times then countable.
If you really want to make a pack your own, then draw out your own. It'll only be a matter of time before this topics removed due to spam, as thats all these packs are, spam, just by the shear amount of them that pop up.
Instead of wasting the hours you are just removing the shading from each block, you could instead be spending that time making something truly amazing that people will flock to download. Rather than something no one wants and will just poke fun at you for making.
Not caring about what we think and being straight up wrong are two different things. Come on man, I get it, making a texture pack like Alvoria's Sanity or XSSheep's Pixel Perfection is hard, nevermind higher resolutions like x32. But you have to at least try. Just using the bucket tool and filling in a block just isn't cool. Not to mention, these don't look good. If you want a good-looking, bright colored texture pack, you have to try. Befarrar's RetroNES, SteelFeathers's Dandelion, and Andre Jolicoeur's Jolicraft are all amazing examples of having a simpler, cartoony and colorful style. It might seem like we're all just bashing you, but we don't want to see this forum end up as nothing but effortless, terrible monstrosities, and I bet you wouldn't want that either, in the end. At the end of the day, I think if you were look back on this pack in a couple months, you wouldn't be very proud of it.
So, this is kind of a personal thing from me to you, make something you can be proud of, otherwise there isn't much point in doing it.
You Really think I care what you think? No. No I don't. I am going to finish this resource pack if the people of these forums like it or not
"Time you enjoy wasting is not truly wasted."
With that said please understand that you're not going to get a lot, if any, positive feedback from this. If you want to make it, that's fine. Nobody can stop you. At the same time, nobody is going to compliment you or care about your work if you insist on doing something that's been done thousands of times before. Your pack is nothing more than a drop in an ocean. If you truly don't care what people think and accept that your work will be lambasted for the mediocrity it exudes by all who comment on it, then that's fine. If that's really, genuinely how you feel and think then I admire your conviction and tranquility of spirit.
That's not at all what your replies suggest you really feel, though. Just sayin'.

Yeeeeaaaah, post pictures, else this is gonna sound like a virus or something.
We see packs like this daily, and they are generally not welcome because they require zero (0) effort to make.
