Those bricks are very nice and painted, I like them a lot. Perhaps the the mortar should look "farther down," basically so that the bricks cast a bit of a shadow on it? It looks a bit puffy to me right now. It could be fine if that's what you're going for though, more of a thick mortar, with the bricks sunk in. The rails look good and fit the rustic theme, but maybe darken the sides of the actual rails, so that they look a bit more 3D. Everything looks really good, though.
(I commented on your thread so now you have to go comment on mine! :P)
Yes, the "puffy mortar" was something I noticed too. It wasn't entirely intentional, though I guess you can't make something like that by accident, so, yeah. They kind of make me think of bricks pressed into soft clay, and left to set. It's an interesting look. I'll definitely take another look at the rails, now that you mention it. I guess I spent too much time on the ties, and forgot about the rail parts.
I also updated the main thread, so now it has some of the fancy 3D images I've been making. There aren't a whole lot of them added, though they should be coming along soon enough.
Yeah, I like the look of the bricks if that's what you were going for, I just wasn't sure if it was. That's a very good way of describing it.
I like the new images, in my opinion 3D renders make every block look better for some reason.
I finally made glass! With full CTM and Better Glass, too! That was a pain in the butt, let me tell you. There seems to be a weird pattern error that keeps appearing, no matter what I do. I mean literally, I fix the pattern error here, and one shows up there that didn't exist before. I think it has something to do with the blending method, so I won't be able to fix it. Oh well.
Here's a screenshot:
And a 3D render, because everybody loves a good 3D render.
Also added Mediafire links to past versions of the pack, even though those past versions had less stuff. I'll be posting legacy versions that support old versions of Minecraft, since you can play the old betas with the new launcher now!
My progress with the 3D render images has come to a grinding halt, as my GIMP is now refusing to run the Map Object plugin. It's making me really sad, I absolutely love those 3D images! I'll have to get it working again somehow...
EDIT: Had to check in another browser, since this one refreshed, but HOOO YEAH! MY TOPIC HAS A LAVA BUCKET!
i may sound like a noob here. What do I do with the OptiFine zip file that you provided? didn't see anything that told me what to do with it. thanks in advance

I didn't provide any links to download Optifine, I just linked to the topic. Optifine's topic should have instructions on how to install.

I think one of the problems I would encounter in this pack is the iron ore. It is barely changed from the stone. I like the look of the oak logs but the planks remind me of the default stone bricks, just rounded and with a different color.

I hadn't noticed the updated wood textures. As I read the previous posts I saw the updated wood texture, I particularly like the CTM on the birch. However, the planks are wide enough to give a look almost like a higher resolution stone brick (albeit with a different color).
In addition to all the things I've added over the past few weeks (which is a lot of things) I've also redone all of the leaves, and finally been able to finish this bad boy:
Also added some gui stuff, including a new hotbar and a new language menu button.
Full list of new stuff here:
Redid leaves
added end portal block
added end stone
added cobwebs
added lillypads
lots of stuff I can't remember
All of these things will be added to the download, except for the block breaking animation. I'd like to work on that a little longer.
It feels good to be updating again.
@RustnRuin, that's a genuine good idea, but I don't think I'll implement it. It would involve completely redoing the whole animation, and I don't think its worth the effort for such a small detail. Wish I would have thought of it when I was making the thing the first time, though!
Update, a week late! This update has all the stuff I finished last week, and completely forgot to add! The icons.png is finished, and there are a few updates to the CTM textures to get them working right. Also, random saddle item! Download here or in the OP.
There might also be some thread changes coming along soon, if I can remember what font it actually was that I used in the original thread images (which I neglected to save in xcf form <_<).

Curse PremiumQuartz, all three varieties:
Powered, booster, and detector rails:
The powered rails are animated!
And monster spawners!
As always, download here or in the OP.

Curse PremiumA break animation:
(Appears much darker on the blocks)
Both types of bricks and both types of ingots:
A shameless recolor, I know, but all three items are basically the same shape with different materials anyway.
EDIT: Now that I think about it, I could use CIT to randomize the textures a little, to keep them from looking the same all the time.
These things should be included in the next update, which will hopefully finish up all the blocks.

Curse PremiumDid I not mention that I updated the download? It is sort of ambiguous, I guess...
In that case...
I updated the download!

Curse PremiumEDIT: Didn't want to triple post, so I added this to the end of this post.
I've updated the download, and added the bed, sign, and the TNT that I just made. Download here or in the OP.
Here's a render of the TNT:

Curse PremiumCool! I could really use a bit more exposure. I'd have a few conditions, though. Would you mind shooting me a PM listing everything you need?
