I just downloaded the newest version of Minecraft on my laptop for the first time (I have a bin file on my normal computer though), and I was wondering how you get to the Minecraft textures without the bin file, because as of 1.6.2, there is no bin file -.- .
Everything is under "versions" now. Just find your version and then look for the .jar file with the same name. Then extract the /assets/ folder, pack.png, and pack.mcmeta files just as you would have the myriad of folders that you would have extracted before the change.
