One of my favourite packs when I started playing in Alpha was The Pack of Dorian Grey. Unfortunatley at 0.9 Dorian fell off the face of the planet. I have longed for an update. Yesterday however I noticed that thread has been locked. But I wasn't about to give up.
I really missed this pack and decided that I wanted to get it working with the new system. So I took the time to convert it. And to tear out all of the placeholder files. This way you can use it alongside another 32x pack, or with the vanilla minecraft filling in the holes if you want.
I hate to be a wet blanket, but do you have permission to use those textures? The license that the pack is released under only allows for straight redistribution and not a derivative work or transformation which, because you changed formats, is what this is unfortunately.
I noticed that a few other people are named in the thread you linked to as being the original author's proxys. If you can't contact the original author, try getting permission from one of them.
If you already have permission, please post proof of it so that nobody accuses you of texture theft. OK?
Never mind. The CC-BY-NC-ND license allows for format changes as long as you don't add to the work. In that case, I hope you haven't added any textures to the pack.
Good pack, by the way. I suppose the only reason I haven't heard of it is because of its age.
I am awaiting responses, and will gladly take down the thread if I am asked to.

According to the Creative Commons Website linked to by Dorian:
Merely changing the format never creates a derivative.
I was very careful to not break the rules listed by the CC.
However I hadn't even thought about the proxy's ability to give permission, I just was going along certain that only the original creator had that power. I will message them now. Thank you!

Edit: As for getting permission this is not listed by the CC website. To see the part mentioned above click on remix, transform, or build upon.

This is one of those things that's kinda gray-area... but as far as the forum rules go it should be good enough. Granted the original author can revoke it in a heartbeat. It really depends on what rights and privileges the original author granted to his proxies. If it's the usual "this person speaks for me in all matters regarding this pack", then yes it will be good enough.
I realized that pretty quickly and edited my post... but apparently the forum didn't feel like saving that edit. Nice.
Yea, you're good. No worries.

I see the edits now. For some reason my edits appeared as a new post. I dunno. I don't have enough experience with this forum engine to know what is happening.

It was always my favourite. I do think age would have played a factor into that yeah. I meant it kind of got left behind in 2011. I just hope that my rerelease of it allows others to enjoy it. And add onto it for their own purposes. Man would I love it if other artists could add onto it. *shrug* oh well. I suppose a way would be to do a separate release of textures that fills in the holes. And force the user to look up the original and use it with their "patch". I dunno if that would be okay or not though. :-)

If the additions were a separate pack then yea, that would be fine. Saying "Use this thing with this other thing" isn't really adding to the body of the work. Since Minecraft can now natively stack packs, this would probably be the best way to go if someone wants to develop this pack further.
Also, these forums are just a bit broken. Have been since the last upgrade. If you want to delete one of your posts because the forum double-posted for you just report the one you want gone with the "Report" button and ask a moderator to delete it.
I absolutely loved this pack through alpha and beta until dorian left and stopped updating it. Dorian was a really swell dude too, sad we haven't heard from him since...
Would love to see you make an 'addon pack' type thing that you load above this one to fill in some of the missing textures. This pack really does deserve to be used again.

I have been thinking about it. I am not the best artist. My main problem is that I have a really hard time with texturing, all of my designs end up coming out flat. If someone can help me out with that I would love to start working on filling in the missing blocks for a stand alone patch!
