That Doom Cannon is awesome...and so are the signs! In fact there's a lot of awesome features and builds on view there, making me want to build again, but I'm stuck doin' millions of bits of ctm instead!
Thanks
I've been looking at the CTM wizardry that yourself and others have been doing and it's quite awe-inspiring! I find I have little time for even base textures though, so don't feel so bad about the time you have to work on your pack
Thanks

Whereas we only needed to come up with one texture for a new block, it's now more or less 10 if it's something that can be randomised or at least 16 or 32 if it can be 'repeat' ctm, and once started, going back to just one texture never seems quite the same.
Having just spent too much time down in massive maze-like caves and getting lost while trying to perfect my rock and dirt textures, I could do with some effective direction signs...if only we had more 1 block sized paintings, without the need for mods, and a system for selecting them more efficiently. Sadly I don't think paintings have a high priority with the developers at Mojang. I still find it strange that apart from getting just one new painting, we haven't had any change to paintings in over 4 years!

Painting are strange, I do remember all those mods you used to have recommended for your pack, that painting cycler was invaluable for the x-treme paintings!
And about the CTM... that's why I've been reluctant to strtat
Here's a video I shouldn't really be sharing just yet....
This is for that upcoming server I've mentioned a few times. I work on the server as a builder and general handyman and was tasked with creating a video to set up the theme and storyline. It's a roleplay server so the storyline is an important feature!
Here's the video, made as a ye olde newsreal!
It's a good way to see my textures as intended, in grainy sepia tones! (joking!)
That's also my hand at the beginning turning the newsreal machine on

That's fantastic! Love the music and the sepia tone, aged film style.
Couldn't help smiling at the march past at the beginning of the film. Did you get server members to march past or use some other means to get characters lined up and marching?
You gave a great talent for story telling, Squid Spielberg. Hope you and other server members can come up with some stories in the future.

Thanks very much for the kind words
Unfortunately, as the server isn't open to many players yet that particular shot was faked with an NPC plugin... besides, NPC's don't complain when you ask them to redo a scene over and over
I love making these little videos though, and one career path I looked into was movie directing (or just screenwriting etc), but in the end I felt it was too constricting to go into a film degree. So I'm studying broad for now, and hopefully I can specialise later - perhaps into film!
Just wanted to let you know that, unfortunately, your work is being stolen/plagearized on Planet Minecraft in the following link: http://www.planetmin...my-17/#comments
The pack was already flagged by me, along with all the author's submission due to him doing the same with other resource packs as well.
Might be better for you, as the Original Author of Steamy, to flag it as well.
Continue the good work!
Best Regards,
Val*
Thank you very much,
When I clicked the link the pack had already been taken down so you did a good job flagging the perpetrator!
Thanks again for looking out for me
I generally don't have the time or inclination to hunt down these ne'er-do-well's, as they aren't really hurting me in any way. Sure they're stealing my work, but they won't be gaining fame or fortune for doing so, so I don't really care what they're up to.
But thanks for dispensing justice anyway
Thanks very much for the kind words

Well, I wasn't far wrong in thinking you have natural talent there. If you make it big, directing or producing movies I shall brag to my retirement home friends, "I knew that guy on the Minecraft Forums years ago!"
That plug-in sounds mighty useful! I tend to like my city as mysteriously deserted, but there might be a situation in which a directed NPC could come in handy. You wouldn't happen to have a link, Squid?
I tend to report quite a few packs every other day because I don't find fair, and it is not fair, for people to get credit over other people's hard work.
I believe this user ended up being banned because his submissions, when downloaded, people complained that their anti-virus detected a virus in his submissions.
Well, I for one am glad there are right thinking people like you around. Well done!
I worked on paintings today after putting it off for far too long. In hindsight, I should have done this a long time ago as it was an absolute ball to do!
Welcome to Squid's Contemporary Art Gallery - showcasing only the finest art by the greatest masters.(please note that just because the gallery is owned, built, and run by Squid this does not affect the choices made in artwork shown. The fact that only Squid's art is displayed is not a reflection of bias, but rather a reflection of the quality of our glorious, infallible master patron)

The rest of the paintings will follow soon
I've also gone and edited sandstone (darker and less yellow) and redone the breaking animation. I attempted to make a still water animation but the resulting monstrosity meant I had only wasted 20mins. Water, lava, fire and portal animations are my bane, but someday I'll crack them...
Eh eh! When's the private viewing and make sure there's plenty of bubbly!
Lookin' good, mate!
I like the 'Misted Valley'...amazing how much subtlety you can convey with just a few pixels! Looks like a misty valley is what I mean.
Well, the gallery is not quite finished and already I've found out some shocking news. Turns out some of those awful NPC villagers living outside my town have been constructing near-perfect forgeries of my art with only some wool and sticks! The nerve of them!
The gallery will retain the originals indefinitely...
I did really enjoy doing the paintings, I find it fun to manage small numbers of pixels with precision. Unfortunately the larger paintings are going to take a loonngg time due to the many pixels that need colouring...
As a side note, I'm very confused by my mediafire download statistics.
Apparently I have about 9600 downloads on Steamy V1 and 340 on Steamy V2. 340 is a believable number, but 9600? That's ridiculous. Does mediafire lie, or are people being linked to my Steamy V1 download from another place I'm unaware of?

Lol! The cheek of those villagers. Haha...the thing is, you'd really have something to worry about if the work they were doing was 'original'...talk about creepy!
I'm sure I once played a game that used to throw up random paintings or posters made up of images stored in my 'Pictures' folder. Imagine if Minecraft did something like that!
As regards the download figures, it'll probably be the case that someone might have done a review or video review on your pack giving a sudden boost, or as you say it might have been listed on a Minecraft resource pack site. There are lots out there besides PM and MC Forums. As you know, I prefer them to link to my main thread, but usually they mostly link directly to my download, which is still preferable to them having their own download.
A couple of updates ago I had a huge number of downloads, then back down to normal for the next. I never found out what the cause for the jump was. Usually if it's a review the author posts a link in my thread. Just a bit of a mystery really, though that particular jump funded a couple of Humble Bundle purchases!

Ah ha ha! I'm picturing walking around a village filled with some interesting villager art I can just see it now... neon blue canvas with some yellow and brown streaks across it, with the villagers who made standing proudly in front!
Thanks for the advice regarding the downloads :). I still haven't found the cause yet though.
I'm not dead! I've been very very busy with real life, as well as some small side projects. I was mucking around with some Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun textures, and before I knew it, CnC Minecraft have become my patrons for a full Tiberian Sun resource pack! So I'm obliged to work on that, but I'm still here, and Steamy will be updated for any MC updates in the near future
Heh heh yeah...
That's an element of the Corsia Craft server that I snuck in...
Speaking of which, I've uploaded a new version of the pack to co-incide with the release of the public tour of that server
Go check it out if you like steampunk builds!
I am pleased to announce that I've acquired some legitimate editing software!
So hopefully I'll be able to make much finer quality videos in the future
It's adobe Premier 2 (an old version, hence the free pricetag); and I've already had some fun making little shorts with it! Also seeing as 1.8 has been delayed I think I'm going to try and get a couple of mobs done before I release that update. Any suggestions?
Oh no!
My front thread has broken as all my imageshack files have been wiped :,(
I'll get onto fixing them tomorrow, and I'll also share a little something I cooked up too...
I'm aware the forums update messed up my OP
I'll get onto it soon.
In the meantime, I found a review of my pack on youtube, but unfortunately I can't understand it... anyone want to offer a translation
Thanks

Updated hands to not be so contrast-y and to have some shading
Updated bust to look more like a bust.
Can anyone guess what this is a little reference to
If you like the builds, here's some more pics. These are from an upcoming server I'm a co-owner of; Corsia Craft.
