This... unfortunately doesn't look "improved." Actually, it hardly looks different from the default.
If you were to improve default Minecraft textures, the change should be more noticeable, and useful (ie making a new end stone texture that isn't cobblestone with inverted shading, creating more appealing biome palettes, or retexturing plants.) This might be my personal opinion, but you aren't really improving ore textures by using the same design, in different colours for each ore. If anything, you achieve the opposite, because now there's less variety, and it looks more unnatural, as you don't see that much uniformity with raw minerals.
If you want to try and make an improved default, I think a good place to start would be to see where you can integrate CTM and randomized textures. That could improve it by adding some more variety to the scenery, or some fancy tiling for connected textures.
Ive seen some blah textures in Mc so Ive decided to fix them!
