[Files lost since web server was terminated - you can still find vanilla shaders elsewhere.]
Haven't really been on these forums much, not sure of the rules or where to post things. Also I don't know if this has been done before but I haven't seen it.This resource pack overwrites the first shader with a bloom shader, so to install it:
Copy shadertest.zip to your resourcepacks folder
Enable it
Press the 'Super Secret Settings' button exactly once (twice if you're on 1.7.3+)
You should see bloom!
If you don't, please set your Minecraft launcher to stay open, try it again, and paste the contents of the dev console, and I'll try to improve its compatability (unless you have no shader support, in which case I cannot help you.)
Woah! This is amazing. This is pretty accurate to the original shaders (you know, except the shadows but how can one do that on vanilla Minecraft anyway). I love this, downloading right now.
You sir get my seal of approval...
If you had any trouble downloading it, it should be resolved. It was hosted locally on my machine, but now it's hosted on my friends server.
Also, I can take small requests. A simple toon shader is on the way!
are you going to make more like this? like aimbient occulition?
This post makes me cringe.
OT: This isn't nearly as good as these few posts make it seem. To be honest, I have NO idea what the minecraft shaders are capable of, but I do know that this isn't very good at all. It's bloom, yes, but WAY too much. Anything light becomes BLINDING WHITE.

I think this image proves my point.
Yeah, I tried it out in game and it's actually not so great. Lots of things are too bright and the quality is really strange.

The trouble is, there is only so much I can do. Ambient occlusion requires access to the Z-buffer, which shader mods give you access to, but vanilla Minecraft does not at the moment.
As for the other comments, yes it can be too strong, I play on the darkest setting, but you can change that to preference by editing fxaa.fsh.
Also this bloom shader is nearly identical to the one all the old mod shaders used, so its not like its bad.
I had to modify it to work with vanilla, but it's actually less intense then most.
The problem here is Minecraft has no HDR, so the brightness of a pixel is a guess - there's no way to tell wool's white from a slightly dimmer white of the sun, they're just as bright to your monitor.
Mods have a hackjob way around that and send light sources to the shader seperately from objects. But again, vanilla does not support this.
I just wanted to show people what was possible with the shader support Minecraft currently has.
To all people that are complaining: Just turn down the brightness in options and the bloom is not that strong anymore. After I did that, it was one of my best minecraft experiences ever

Some texture packs are brighter then others, so there are now 3 different versions of varying intensity.
My personal favorite is the normal version (max bloom), default texture pack and 'moody' brightness.

I have wanted a mod or something to do just this.
Thankyou...
This is really good, although I can't use it. My computer is a piece of crap when it comes to the FPS of Minecraft.
