I have been working hard this and I would like it to get completed in the next few weeks.
So if there are any interested parties please message me.
My main goal here was to recreate the game earthbound in minecraft all while keeping everything as 'earthboundy' as possible. What does that mean exactly ? It means that everything I have done so far has been copy and pasted from the game earthbound (and mother 3) with as little tweaks as possible. If something looked too pixelated after bringing it over I would use gimp to fix it. Took every sound I could think of over using audacity to convert to .ogg. My main resource for this pack was: http://starmen.net/
What has been done:
Most sounds. Mobs, fireworks, eating, music, records, etc.
Almost every block
The 'work' items such as shovel, pickaxe, axe,
the gui is almost 100% complete (its just boring to edit)
If anyone would like to make some improvements I would be sure to credit them in the final pack. I could use some help on the mobs and armor and maybe another set of eyes could catch any imperfections. However if you just want to download and tell me what you think I could always use some creative criticism.

This is a themed pack taken from 16-bit snes graphics. I can't make it look better without making is look less like the game I was trying to make it look like. Your nonspecific unhelpful criticism does not add anything of merit to this topic and if I had the ability I would remove it.
IF I had played Earthbound, I'm sure that I would appreciate this pack, but alas, I have not.
I suggest you give it a try, it is on the Wii store. It's an rpg kind of like Final Fantasy games for the snes but its got a cartoony feel to it. It is goofy and has lots of silly dialogue but at the same time it has a freaky storyline and the end boss was pretty terrifying at the time. It's balances scary and goofy, and certainly is a cult classic. I'm not sure you would like it unless you cut your teeth on snes games growing up and also like rpgs. Try it out and let me know what you think.
I love this resource pack, I gets most things right, the sounds and most of the textures (I've seen/heard) are spot on for a Mother/Earthbound pack however, in my opinion there are a few textures I find a bit off
My first encounter with gravel really confused me, I thought it was dirt (doh!)
I personally don't like the Iron and Diamond textures, they bug me because I have and sometimes use Lucas and Ness skins. Personally I would of used the Masked man armor for Iron and the King set for Poo or the awesome set for Lucas for Diamond but this isn't my resource pack
TL;DR ver Amazing nearly full pack for any Earhbound/Mother fan apart from the Iron and Diamond armor and the gravel texture
The problem with armor is that Minecraft makes it wider than the skin its going on, so if you try to make a full suit everything turns out looking fat, I included skins (not armor) which show what I was really going for albeit at a low resolution. (honestly the only one I like is the robot). I think I made the skins (which are passable) and then tried to make armor sheets from the skins but because of the fatness I stopped messing with it, besides to leave them as place holders. I will fix these ... eventually.
My texture selection was far from optimal, I dug through EB and Mother 3, there are more than a few textures that I wish I could replace, keep in mind that I'm taking textures from the games themselves so I can only use what it gives me. If you could suggest an alternate I'd use it. I think I had already planned to fix alot of these textures but then got distracted for a bit. I can't get used to the tree textures. They have been through like 4 revisions and I still don't like them. Thanks for the input when I get more time I will see about finishing this pack.
Finally you (and anyone else) can re-pack this pack however you want, build your own mods around it, etc. You should give credit of some sort and a link back to this page. Also I would definitely be interested in anything you make around it so keep me posted.
Thanks, I'll add your credit when I add the resource pack
Anyway, I made a Masked man helmet to replace Lucas' head for the iron armour I don't think it's that good but it's something if you want me to make some more textures, I'd be more than happy to do so (I'll probably start some mod textures in the meantime, fake diamond ore looks really bad in my modpack)
Armour texture file (Only the helmet has changed)
I haven't actually seen that in the game (mother 3) guess I haven't played far enough yet I suppose. Any textures that you can replace or make improvements to is fine by me. I'll add them into the pack if you want and course leave a mention in the credits.txt file. As you may have noticed I didn't put alot of work into the armors.
Please add it, that's why I made it, I'll make the full set if you want me to (and if you don't I'm doing it anyway )
You just changed the helmet right ? What about the clothes he is wearing in your member pic ?
At any rate keep it up and I will see if it works., I can always have more.
Looks good I have added it to the pack and put you in the credits.txt file, but I am sticking closer to the source material http://www.spriters-...fullview/16900/ if you look on the bottom right you can see a close up of Claus (the masked man) and it shows more details in his helmet and clothing.
I wanted to keep the yellow stripe going down the front but I think it will clash too much with the silver and black going on with his top (even though his pants are orange), had to keep the buckle regardless
If you want to edit any more go for it, and I'll just apply the filters afterwards.
He needs jack boots (I think) and I don't know how to make boots just tennis shoes.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If anyone else wants to add stuff I'll describe the process I was using (really if I can do it anyone can).
Sounds and Music I would convert (to .ogg) and edit with audacity
(http://audacity.sourceforge.net/). Audacity is crazy awesome and it's free. I would just replace the files already in the minecraft folder by default.
For the bulk of the block textures I would zoom around the map in MS-Paint looking for suitable blocks and simply copy and paste 32x32 (Note: for most blocks you could use 16x16 but it won't look as good on some of the other ones example: https://www.dropbox....xq9r/gravel.png). Some required filters in Gimp (http://www.gimp.org/) to look better (those tree textures have been through 4 or 5 revisions still not happy).
The GUI was a template from some other texture pack I used it because it was the scale I wanted I just added the default white line scheme from EB.
The mobs and armor are what I feel could really use and overhaul in this pack, the ones I have are rough and at least initially were never meant to be the final versions. I would basically start with the color scheme of the sprites and fill in the other features, you could do it in MS-Paint if you had to.
The items were taken from the spriters-resourse link above the were originally 16x16 but I blew them up to 32x32 and blurred them with the cartoonify filter in gimp it in reverse order but here is an example :https://www.dropbox....0/ender_eye.pngYou can see the effect of the cartoonify filter in the picture, but basically it give a transition between two colors in-between those two colors. The settings I was using were: Cartoon: Mask Radius between 3 and 7; Percent black 0.
I could go much more in depth but this is too much already. Basically all my work amounts to creative copy and pasting but if anyone else wants to add/fix anything just post it in here and I'll be sure to give you credit.

If anyone else wants to add stuff I'll describe the process I was using (really if I can do it anyone can).
I would basically take textures and music straight from the texture dumps on the following links on starmen.net and spriters-resource.com:
Maps (used for blocks):
http://starmen.net/mother2/maps/ and
http://starmen.net/m...kthroughs/maps/
Mobs:
http://starmen.net/m...r2/images/game/ and
http://www.spriters-...dvance/mother3/
Sounds and Music:
http://starmen.net/mother2/music/ and
http://starmen.net/mother2/soundfx/ and
http://starmen.net/mother3/music/
Items were taken from:
http://www.spriters-...r3/sheet/40969/ and
