G's Texture Tweaks
Hello there, my name is glbracer and I've made a few tweaks to the default Minecraft textures. The results are as follows, and I was and am quite pleased with the results. Maybe it's just me or maybe they actually look good. I dunno.
What's been changed
What's been changed;
Borders have been removed from all glass.
Stained glass recolored.
Reeds (or sugarcane) lightened up a bit.
Lapiz and emerald ore now looks like all the other ores, but retains its color.
Wood doors now have a glass center with a wooden frame.
Trapdoors have been editted similar to wooden doors.
The sign item now says the word "sign" and is slightly tweaked.
Potato crop stems are now lighter, and the potatoes begin to show on the third stage of growth; both to distinguish from carrots
Carrot crop stems are now darker, and the carrots begin to show on the third stage of growth; both to distinguish from potatoes
Command block retextured to look like a command prompt line
The sides of doubled-up stone slabs look like the top, similar to the block ID 43:8
Levers tweaked, tip is now purple and the length is darker.
Rain is tweaked; less pixels; less computer load; smaller effect on gameplay during rain.
Menu background changed from dirt to redstone blocks.
Vingette (the darkness on your screen when in dark caves or at night) has been made a bit lighter.
The overlay you see when underwater has also been made lighter.
Some old textures restored; gravel, leather (can still be dyed), black lines around old food are back. nostalgists rejoice!
Sigh, just another default edit. Move along, nothing to see.
I don't think that there's anything wrong with that, if it isn't your cup of tea that's just fine. What's the difference between two texture packs? They're essentially edits as well, right? If you don't like it, either help me improve it or don't post at all. Nothing wrong with "just another default edit." That's what all texture packs are, to an extent.

"Default edits" are texture packs in which the artist has taken the default textures and just slightly edited them, and then called it their own. Normally they either are not good at all, or just make no sense at all, yours is one of the better ones I have seen. Default edits are the second most common packs, only been beaten by simple packs, and frankly, the majority of the people here are tired of them. I realize this is probably your first texture pack, and it's a better start than the most newbies at texturing. Next time, please be original, come up with an actual theme, and make your own work, instead of just editing someone else's. If you do this then you will receive much better feedback, originality is the key to success here.

Not even slightly. Actual texture packs start with a blank canvas, default edits start with a texture someone else has made.
That sentence alone makes it sound like two completely different amounts of effort, right? And that is as it should.

Fair enough, I'll take it into consideration and start working on one that isn't an 'edit.'
The original post is messed up now anyway, somehow.. ._.

It's a forum bug, don't worry about it.
