1.6 is great. Its very cool with new features like horses and resource packs perfect for adventure maps. But there is a problem important to many people. Their favorite texture pack doesn't work with the new resource pack format. Here's how to fix this:
A program called TextureEnder uses a .jar file to convert your texture pack to a resource pack.
Step 1: Download TextureEnder.jar. (I suggest downloading it to your desktop, and moving the texture pack to your desktop.) Step 2: Run TextureEnder.jar. A window should pop up with a file directory. If your texture pack in .zip form is on your desktop, select it. If not, navigate to it and select it. Step 3: Click on Convert Packs. Lots of code will run, and then it should finish. Step 4: Run Minecraft Step 5: Go to options at the main menu and then to resource packs. Step 6: Click on Open resource packs folder. Copy and paste the converted .zip into your resource packs. Step 7: Enjoy!
Note: Some packs may not convert correctly, and when they are dropped into the Resource Packs folder, they don't show up in game. This can be fixed by making a new file called pack.txt (which is the pack's custom description) and placing it into the pre conversion copy. Now convert the original copy again.
