Welcome to Wolfhound Heavenly, a highly detailed 64x64 texture pack with entirely hand-created textures. This is a variation on the original Wolfhound. This pack features textures based off medieval designs.
This doesn't look like default Minecraft!
It's not supposed to. Wolfhound Heavenly brings a new theme to your game, giving you a totally different look without installing mods.
Why the name Classic Medieval?
The textures are based off the time period/imagery that is typically thought of as medieval. At some point, I hope to have a late and early medieval pack as well.
What's with all the Christian imagery?
This is a medieval pack. They were kind of into that sort of thing back then. The end portals feature the Christian emblems so prominently because I figured... if the nether is hell, then why not make them believe that the End is heaven? Course, the poor poor villagers have it totally wrong, but hey... they're not the ones jumping through the portal, right?
I can't read the font.
It's a modified version of a medieval script. If you can't figure it out after a little bit, you can always swap in the text from a different version of Wolfhound.
Where did the paintings come from?
They're from illuminated scrolls I did for a medieval reenactment group I'm part of. They span a very wide range of time and skill level, as I only do about six a year and maybe two of them can be reused for Minecraft here.
Okay, explain some of the logic behind the textures.
GLADLY.
Food:
I'll explain the ones I don't think are self-explanatory. Cake: fig tart. Pumpkin pie: rice tart (I know, it doesn't make sense but I really like rice tarts). Cookie: pine nut cookie, thought it was medieval but I wasn't able to find a source on it, but they're tasty so whatever. Cod: it's cooked with egg. Potato: turnip tart. Sugar: honey, as that was used to sweeten desserts primarily. Rabbit: I found a recipe that had like a bazillion different ingredients so I just scribbled all over the rabbit chunks.
Plants:
The rose is monkshood and the dandelion is belladona. I don't remember what the others are, but they're all plants I learned about when I took a class on medieval poisons. Yes. You read that right. It was an amazing hour of my life. The two hour medieval barber-surgeon class? Just as amazing but far, far more horrifying. I learned things that cannot be unlearned.
The rails are wood planks because there is pretty much no rail equivalent back then. Planks are sometimes used in areas where the ground is really muddy to help people keep their footing.
The pumpkins are turnips because they carved turnips back then instead.
The customizer is a web application I built that allows you to select from any of the Wolfhound textures to build your own custom version of Wolfhound!

Terms of Use
What can I do with this pack?
use it in a Youtube video, include a link back to Wolfhound
use it in a remix pack for redistribution, include credit and a link back to Wolfhound
alter textures for a remix pack for redistribution, include credit and a link back to Wolfhound
use (altered or unaltered) in a map for distribution, include credit and a link back to Wolfhound
use it for any of the above purposes without first asking permission
What can I NOT do with this pack?
claim it as your own work
put it under any sort of link that makes you money
upload it to websites as a texture pack. In other words, don't go to some website that distributes texture packs that I'm not already on and upload it yourself. I need to retain control of this pack so I can keep it current.
I've relaxed my standards on what you can and cannot do with this texture pack because I'm making this for the community and I want the community to be able to use it and benefit from it. There's no advantage other than ego-stroking to keep it exclusively to myself. Just don't claim it as your own.
And make sure you're following the TOS of anywhere you use it.
Lol , They're the original author of the pack, no need for permissions. If you check they made multiple variations of their original texture pack. BTW I love them all! I also read your book, great work!

Great book! Very well written, keep it up! I wasn't expecting its quality to be nearly as excellent as it was. Fascinating writing style as well.
Oh, right, the texture pack. I liked that too, good work.
That's so good to hear that you like both my textures and book. I don't make much money off of either (I wanted to keep the price on the book low so it means little in the way of royalties), so warm fuzzies of knowing I don't suck keep me going.
Not sure why, but I had a difficulty time downloading. Both links eventually wound me up at mediafire, but my virus scanner kept blocking it (and mediafire has permissions), and when I clicked on the download...instead of getting the download...I got a ton of open tabs in my browser to not too savory sites. I finally, finally did get the download. I like the pack, but I am not to fond of the torches.....they look more like candles to me (which isn't a bad thing.....I just don't like candles everywhere (too bad there isn't a seperation for candles and torches in minecraft with different intensities of light...torches for caves and pathways and ground area and candles for the houses and other table tops etc.) The other thing is the water. It is so light. It needs a bluer hue in it, IMHO. It looked more like ice to me when I first looked at my river. I do love the wood though.
Okay, just updated my copy of this pack and I am impressed!
I like all the new textures!
I noticed Zombies aren't updated yet, Any planes on them?
I'd suggest making Zombie pig men dark knights maybe, seeing as they have swords.
I dunno... :s
[Edit]: By the way, your Witch's seem to be missing their textures. [Edit again]:Forget I said that...

In keeping with the nether = hell theme, I'll probably make the zombie pig men demons. Might give the skeletons armor, though. No idea what I'll do with the endermen.

Other than that, good job!
That was totally a typo. It's made for the latest version.
That awkward moment when you tell the original creator they need permission to post their own pack.
Yanno, at least people are looking out for me. God knows someone needs to.
Cool! Thank you!
