I am fairly new to minecraft PC so I Decided to try my hand at a texture pack. This is a simple 8x pack for those just like the look of basic texturres! I personally use it and have gotten quite used to it.
Here is a picture of it
The nether
The inventory (Also showing my custom font)
The Main Menu
Some features you may not notice:
New font
Square menus (to satisfy my OCD)
Retextured mobs (Sadly not 8x but made to look nice with the texture pack)
Animated fire and water
retextured clock and compass
Fancy and lower quality leaves
A bunch of work I put in
NO ADFLY
If you have any suggestions please feel free to tell me!

First of is it actually 8x? Always gotta make sure because 16x shenanigans may be afoot. D:
Tiling and more shading would also give more personality since its too uniform color on some things similar to some pre existing packs, i mean it since more shading and tiling would allow for some better flow on structures and natural occurances.
This isn't a jab at your pack its going good and hope to see more

All of the blocks and items are 8x. I am new to texture making, so I will see what I can do and thanks
Using texture packs like these do nothing to the performance of Minecraft.
I read that the smaller the resolution, the less it has to render/texture (if it really is 8x8 and not that the pixels are 2x2 in a 16x16 pack). Also I like the compass, thinking of making mine look like a cliched radar thingy.

Thanks and yes it is an 8x bit texture. go for it, the animated textures were fun to make
That's strange. I tested my Home Lands pack, and it stated differently.
FPS default---------FPS with Home Lands
Sorry for the cropped image. I made these for my thread page, so I didn't want them to take up too much room, but I can get more proof with full screenshots if necessary.
It seems to vary between computers, because I have seen proof in both directions, but my computer however gets higher fps on Minecraft with truly smaller resolutions.
On the topic of the pack, my suggestion would be to have some non-default colour. A lot of the blocks seem to use the default colours, and when the blocks only use a few colours, it can make it very bright. Perhaps lowering the saturation on natural and very common blocks?

I am working on making the grass, TNT texture a little less bright right now, also I will add a bit more to the top of the grass texture

It has several animated textures such as water, lava, compass, and clock, and what do you mean random textures? Sorry I am fairly new to this...
One texture I would suggest you desaturate first would be the sugar cane. It is rather bright.
As for the random, it is a feature of CTm. CTm is a feature of MCPatcher, and it allows you to have any number of textures for one block, and the game will randomly choose one whenever the block is rendered.
Oh, and I forgot to add: It is great to see you joining in the resource pack creation!
I am not trying to argue with you, I am stating that I have an fps increase by using a 4x4 pack, so at least my own computer runs Minecraft faster with a lower resolution pack. As such, some people may receive fps increases from lower resolution packs like I have, but some, as you have shown, may receive similar fps increases from higher resolutions. My point is that lower resolutions can help some people, like myself, if my computer were slow for some reason.
I updated the pack here are the changes:
Added different sugar cane texture
Changed all ore textures
Changed boat texture
Change door texture slightly
Added slightly more shading to the brick textures
Made chests actually 8x
Improved mushroom texture
slight GUI tweaks
Darkened some textures
Any other suggestions?
Welcome to Minecraft PC, these texture are phenomenal (so props to you mate). Word of the wise, the word "simple" on these boards carry a negative connotation. Too many greenies tend to label their bucket fills "simplecraft, simplepack, etc", I for one near had a heart attack when i saw the title.
Back on topic, I will say my two favourite blocks are the red bricks and the bookcase... I am not a fanatic of the wood door though, but it is okay for a 8x8.
As freedomma said releatively good for 8x8 it's much more deatailed then some of the 16x16 texture packs. Like of course my discontinued NoShades which is sucky

Thanks! I'll change it now, and I will redo the wood doors

Alright since I've seen "8x" and was actually 16
