FailStoner, would you mind adding a few more screenshots? That is mainly the reason why I have not yet downloaded it. It looks great in that one screenshot, but I'd like to see some of the other blocks/items/etc. as well.
Just because someone likes something doesn't automatically good- look at the music industry for example. :I
Besides like it's been said so many times- there are hundreds of these packs- they take next to no-skill to make!
If you want to make something that you can be PROUD of- then try making something from scratch in pixel art rather that just taking something already made and de-voiding it of it's shading!
I did make my own textures look at diamond ores look at swords look at EMERALD ores I did that all from scatch
This is not a starting point. A starting point requires effort, a will to make something for reasons other than positive response. In fact, I'm willing to bet that this 'starting point' breaks copyright laws, since you're using Mojang's textures as you are. Slightly editing something does not make it yours.
We don't care about these packs, they don't show us any form of skill, or effort, or even time spent and willing to be spent. A proper pack isn't something you can whip up in a couple minutes.
OK seradicus I get it but stop . If you don't care don't comment. And plust Placeholdes almost have to be default. And plust I didn't slightly added. NOW STOP COMMENTING I DONT WANT ANY BAD THINGS IN HIS THREAD
Wooooooooooooow. Alright this thing kind of blew up since I last visited it yesterday. Holy crap.
I'm not really sure where to start here, but I guess I'll try and address a few major points.
1) Freedomna, as it stands now with the screenshots, this is no different than any of the other bucket fills, but what is encouraging is that the creator is willing to try working on some textures from scratch to make it different.
2) FailStoner, you NEED to respond to criticism in a mature manner, and you need to realize that not everyone will sugar coat their crits or be encouraging. That's life for you. I tried to be encouraging in my post in order to push your project in a more worthwhile direction, without some of the harshness some members give people for making these types of packs. I understand that especially for newer users, it can turn them off from refining their work. But that being said, it's important you take criticism into consideration. If someone doesn't like your pack, then examine why they don't. And please, don't go and spam their threads or inboxes just to spite them. It's childish. Don't attack your critics. Try to dazzle them instead.
3) Just because people say your pack is good doesn't always make it good. I mean hell, look at Justin Bieber's fanbase. It's huge. But he has zero artistic merit what-so-ever. If you do a little research, or flip through this forum, you'll see just how unoriginal this project is, and I don't mean that as an insult, I mean it as an objective observation. It's been done. Many times over. It doesn't contribute anything. And that's why I was encouraging you so much to work from scratch if this is the style you really want to use. If you are working towards an original pack, then great. But keep in mind, you'll want more criticism than praise. Even if a lot of people like your pack, the fact that one or two people have a legitimate gripe with it means there's something still left to be worked on. You don't build cities only on empty and meaningless praise.
4) Uh. Anyone else feeling a bit suspicious about that "Nonshadesfan" person? xD
All in all, can everyone just take a chill pill please.
Also, failstoner, as a general recommendation, I'd advise you avoid excessive double posting. Try to keep all of your updates in bulk. For example, instead of posting that you updated swords, take a bit of extra time to update the rest of the craftable tools, then made an edit in your main topic, and then just make a reply stating that you've released an update, and what it involves. Also don't update -too- often. I get that people are interested in activity, but it's better to have huge spaced out updates, instead of small frequent ones. Gives people a chance to take in and evaluate the new content, without being overwhelmed at the speed it's being released at. It also gives you time to revise your work before making it public.
OK thanks cyrus . BTW I am a child and NonShadesfan is my friend hahaha. But i never knew that he made an acount for this texture pack and i will update my pack less frequently
I'm going to have to agree that this is just another one of the thousands of lazy bucket fill simple packs, you need shading and something interesting or unique designs in your pack not just flattening default textures. I've even made a simple pack and I'd say its better than what's shown in your screenshots. Take peoples advice and use original colours, patterns and designs for your textures.
see the difference a few changes make, (examples taken from my simple pack)
I told you I am starting to make my own textures
EDIT: I really like your Advice thanks
I see that your texture pack has improved!!!! First it was just a lazy bucket fill texture pack but now, you are starting to make your own textures good job! Also your texture pack needs more unique textures. Still right now this is not a good texture pack. But I feel like it's going to be popular soon.
Instead of updating, why not link to the 1000's of textures that are -EXACTLY- like this.
No joke, look up 'simple' and you get 6,675 packs, and 90% of that are packs JUST LIKE THIS. And thats only ones with 'simple' in the title. You could tripple that number easy if not then some. Some even go as far as to do mods in this same no shade simple style.
It is SO OVER DONE, unoriginal, not liked, not wanted... it's just drasticly over done to death and back. This is in NO way how a simple pack is done.
THAT is a good example of what a SIMPLE pack is to be. Thats Nemo btw, it is updated, with CTM and mod support, all mobs and items.
Flat solid colors and removing the 'shading' from default has been done so many times and yes theres many that are fully finished and updated to 1.6, with mobs and such done as well.
We -do not- need yet ANOTHER one of these kind of flat colored no shaded packs flooding the forums. Take time and learn how to make real packs, not something that truthfully, can take a few minutes to do a whole pack in this flat style.
*eye drop color, paint bucket over other colors on block... three clicks for most blocks... done*
No.. just no.

Curse PremiumEveryone starts some where. The pack is not much now, but it has potential. Hell of a lot better than 99% of bucket fills.

It's been 3 days. Wait a little bit before each update, as it takes time to make textures.
