EDIT: If someone for some reason finds this old-ass post, I am no longer going to work on this texture pack, mostly because I got bored doing it. If I start making textures again, it's most likely going to be a total revamp since I started this with almost no experience and the files are a total mess. download Alpha v4 for 1.6 Note: Always check out the last pages for update news!
Hellooooooooo everyone! My name is goodwarrior(GW in short), and thanks vor visiting this topic! Now, what I'd like to present you is...This is a texture/resource pack I started... well, right before 1.6 release. So, at this point most of world textures are done, and by world textures I mean textures for naturally generated blocks. This texture pack is darker than the default one, and the inspiration came from amazing games like Gothic, Dragon Age, etc.
Interested already? Here, have some screenshots: http://imgur.com/a/3gFki - It's an album with world screenshots http://imgur.com/a/vGhaH - more detailed description of blocks(I have a very weird test world for texture packs) !!!NEW!!! V4 screenshots!
Screenshots of v2:
No adfly. At least, for now.
And remember! I need feedback, so it'd be awesome if you said what you liked, what you diskiled, what should I change, etc.
Enjoyed my pack? then, please spread the word and support me using this banner:
This honestly looks pretty good. However, it'd be better if you could embed the images in your post rather than just providing links.
As for the textures themselves, I can only really see stone close-up from the screenshots. It looks a little flat to me, I feel as though adding some shading and not just noise would be an improvement.
..love the cobblestone...or is it stone? What would cobblestone look like then O.o
Cobblestone looks a bit like stone, but it has slightly different colors and is done in more bricky way. I'm planning on making stone bricks lighter and more smooth(and more suqary).
Cobblestone vs stone:
Also, I am currently working on planks, so here's some early screenshots of planks in action:
These are not final, I will work on them and might even rework completely, as I am not statisfied with how they look in their current state.
I have tried to add shadows to stone, I am either doing it wrong or it is impossible in 32x resolution9or both), but it just made it darker. So, I think this stone is staying for a while.
By the way, the darkness onf my stone is the reason for coal ore and coal being lava stone/lava shards. Coal is the only item done so far.
These textures aren't too bad, though they feel a bit crude, and too rough for my liking. It could be because I like smooth cartoon packs, but I think some of your textures (especially the different stone blocks) need better shading, and maybe less jarring lines. Your grass and gravel textures have a small tiling problem as well. Your logs and planks look nice, though the top of the log seems too bright, and contrasts harshly with the rest of the log.
Keep up the good work, it's a good medieval resource pack so far =)

Thanks a lot! I will try to improve my pack based on your comments. I will try to work on shading, and I have noticed slight tiling errors on stone, gravel and grass as well. I'm trying my best to make my textures as connected as possible. I like the look of my stone, and I want it to be with those lines, but I'll try to make it a bit smoother. I think I will rework the cobble, maybe make it more smooth and nice-looking(it is a building material, after all).
By the way, I'm not very good at using various effects(like brightness or lighting), I didn't really use noise on my stone, I painted it by hand (everything was made by hand, I have used some roughness and lighting effects on my textures though). What should I use to work on shading? Paint.NET of PS, and what filters? I really need help with that.
Wor anyone who's wondering why is it called texture pack in the title: because for no it is nothing more than the texture pack. it isn't even a finished texture pack with no custom sounds/that kind of thing.(I'm planning on using these features soon )

I would personally use Photoshop, since that's what I have always used and I have never touched Paint.NET. If your textures are in multiple layers, the blending options could help significantly for shading, otherwise you'll also have to do that by hand. I can't really recommend any filters that are good for texturing, I've avoided using them because they always make it look like poo.
Shading is something that takes a lot of work to get it right, I've at times spend hours on the smallest shading to make it look right sometimes. It's really one of those things that you take for granted because it doesn't stick out, it just looks 'right' if you know what I mean. For starting off with shading, try making parts of your stone a different layer, and play with outer shadows in the blending options to see how it works, and then try the same thing by hand but with different shades of the same color.
I'm no master when it comes to pixel art, in making it or shading, so I'm usually of no real help when it comes to this. Though I'll be around if you need any help =)

Thank you so much! I tried messing around with bleding options, but I couldn't get it right, so I decided to make this by hand, and for me, it just looks so much more awesome! Redone Cobble and Mossy Cobble as well.
Screenshots:
Old stone vs new stone:
New cobblestone: regular on the left, mossy on the right
New stone with ores on it(I didn't rework the ores, but I don'tthink this is noticable, at least I don't see the difference)
Phew, I have finally completed my planks! I am 95% sure this is a final variant. It looks nice, semi-realistic and it doesn't look like brricks!
Screenshots; planks + villager's house
Aaand another update! Regular stone brick is done! I will make other types of stone beicks and glass and will release an alpha v2!
No screenshots yet, but I'm hopingf in releasing a v2 in an hour.
Have tried my best to release v2 ASAP, but, you know, real life and all that stuff, but I have managed to release it today anyway. So, Slpha v2 is out! Go download it!
There. Added the banner, and fixed the downloads(my last additions to this post didn't save even though I clicked "Submit modified post". Maybe it's because I changed the title right after I saved my post?).
the downloads are now v2, not v1. Enjoy!
Okay, it's a new day and I'm ready to work. I think I'll work on a workbench and ore blocks. Maybe on obsidian. Still not sure how the wooden door should look like, if you have any ideas, feel free to give them to me!
Just noticd 1.6 version is completely broken. Make sure to redownload 1.6 version for all blocks to work properly. Big thanks to my friend, Xuluf, for noticing it.
