Yeah, after you posted the comment, I looked at the wiki page, but what I wanted to know was if there was more than one type or just iron. I also asked when it was changed to the current texture because it didn't say on the wiki. I will probably make a poll to see whether or not ALL axes should be battle axes.
Thanks for the tip, but do you know of any place that has the texture png rather than a picture of the spider? I may add a poll about this because it was classic not alpha, but if there is no texture file, I will try to recreate it with the image shown.

So I've started on the changes and I have a few things to mention (none of these changes have been implemented in the download yet):
-Lava is fixed
-Enderman's Eyes are green (THIS WAS A PAIN TO FIGURE OUT!! The texture file was made so that the colors used could only be the purple colors).
-Enderman particles cannot be fixed they use the portal particles, so by making portal particles smoke, the portals will also emit smoke)
-I have not been able to find a good brown spider texture png. This will probably be a poll anyways because it was not alpha.
Here is a "snapshot" download to try out. Please tell me if the eyes are the right color green, it may be too light: DOWNLOAD DEVELOPMENT VERSION
One other concern I had was that an invisible spider (which can naturally spawn) could be much harder to see if the eyes are a transparent gray (as they would be if i did the brown spider). But we'll see what happens and what the poll results will be.
Thanks man! I actually did see this on planet minecraft but I thought it was a report of an in game occurrence not a texture download. Thanks for pointing this out! By the looks of the current votes, I will end up implementing this shortly.
How do you post pictures and textures? I would like to help if needed and to post ideas and old minecraft textures for you to consider on I guess it would be harder but the chances of one to spawn are little (I never seen a invisible spider} And if you can't see them then hit low to the ground
I wasn't complaining of anything, I think it would be fun, I was just making sure people knew.
One other thing I just thought of is that cave spiders and brown spiders share an eye texture, so cave spiders would have gray eyes, or brown spiders would have red eyes. The red eyes also provide a glow in the dark effect because the texture is not effected by lighting as it is drawn after (at least that is what would make sense but I have not read the code).
So it is either cave spider with gray eyes or brown spider with red eyes.
I may never implement the old wool. As it is not a 1 to 1 match for each color. For instance, right now, there is a white wool, a light gray, a dark gray, and a black wool. In alpha there is a white, a gray, and a darker gray, but no black. This would mean one of the grays would have to take the texture of another wool and black would be dark gray. Or some other combination. If someone could give a suggestion as to which wool should be with which wool, I may think about it. If you do this, the textures of the classic wool may be hard to describe, so please use numbers from left to right with these links, and say current:(number) should go with old:(number), etc. So to match current white with old white, and the current red with the bright red, you would say:
Current:1 should be Old:1
Current:5 should be Old:16
If you think certain textures should not change, say for example Current:4 no change
Also if you do this, please give a suggestion for all 16 wool, in number order of current.

I don't know, I never hands on made a texture pack-resource pack. I could make a brown cave spider but I don't know how I would send it. We could do it by email but If we put in our info here it's everybody business. If I do make the brown cave spider couldn't you make both of them have grey eyes?
I can do that, I didn't think about doing that for some reason. It would make mineshaft caving more nerve racking because you can't tell from a glimpse whether the spider is normal or cave. Interesting. I'll see what I can do. You can try to make one as well if you like.
Alright, new development version. The changes:
- default skin now bearded steve
- changed wool spectrum to alpha (Some are current, like black and brown, because they did not exist in alpha)
- minecarts are soundless
- ladders are soundless
- made swimming sounds silent (old splash is still present when swimming :))
- made axes battle axes
- villagers are soundless
Sorry, I actually already fixed that, but I uploaded the wrong dev version. It still has everything from the bullets, but that was broken. I had another idea that I may be able to make acacia and dark oak leaves and maybe swamp more alpha like, but it may not work. I'll check it out later.
