I do not know if this would be the appropriate place to suggest (I hope it is).
I have a suggestion!
From the moment that texture pack changed into resource pack, I believe that the forum could be restructured to accommodate such changes. An area for musicians and sound enthusiasts could be incorporated, for example.
The area where is the texture would remain unchanged, being only inserted into the area for resource pack.
It seems a little out of place to discuss topics aimed into sound editions, for example, within the area for textures.
Honestly, I think there should be a seperate section for sound packs, music packs, texture packs, and lang packs... and a section for combination packs. That would help people who put tons of work into full game-changing packs stand out from all the texture pack giants who are just updating their texture packs to 1.6.1.

I don't agree that we should all be split like that. Perhaps the only split should occur for things like "purely music" packs, or such. But separating it down to the tiny stuff like "textures", "sound", "music", "combinations", and other such discrepancies would just create a rift in this tight-knit community.
For those who just go looking for packs (but don't make packs themselves), our community isn't so obvious. But we, texture artists, have a union in Texture Discussion, and with 1.6, we've all been discussing the possibilities that we can add to our texture packs, such as changing of music, sounds, etc., and if you were to say that those with music have to split off to a different forum, it would really just create a rift between artists that shouldn't be there.
The only changes that I think should happen are that:
Texture Packs forum should change to Resource Packs forum
Texture Discussion to change to Resource Discussion
Tagging format changed to reflect a pack's nature (i.e. if sound only, then include [Sound] or [Music] in topic title)
That is all.
