I found some problems in the 1.8x version with stone brick stairs (weird position in the models) and also with the stone brick double slab (some of the alternate textures are missing).
See image for a example tested in minecraft 1.8.9 (vanilla) and with optifine.
Note : This problem is not present in the 1.9 version.

I can't replicated the missing texture however. I think you have some other variable in play that's messing things up.

This release contains some big CTM improvements, along with a complete sandstone overhaul.
The 1.7x version has a lot of mod support: Eonaut has almost completed Twilight Forest, and added Aether GUIs, and Natura get some big updates. I've also provided minor additions for ChocoCraft Items, ExtraBiomes XLs, and OpenBlocks.
Awesome work, any chances we see a full texture support for all mods in the FTB Infinity Evolved pack, I had to go back to Faithful32 ME to get a complete pack since there's around 188 mods in the pack.

I've recently had more people interested in helping with the mod support, and hopefully that trend continues, but for Lithos doesn't have nearly the contibuting user base that Faithful does. Its the sort of thing that in the best case scenario, nobody will be playing before we got half-way.
I'm much more interested in most common textures of the major mods that are in lots of packs, and ideally are still being updated. Of course volunteers are free to work on whatever textures they want, but I nudge them towards mods like Biomes O Plenty and Thaumcraft.
Asking for a giant modpack doesn't do anything, but I'm always interested in hearing what mod's non-Lithos texture bug you the most.
The red sand is a hard choice. I want it to look decent next to red sandstone, and also regular sand, as it often appears next to rivers and oceans. Meshing well with both is hard.
i use a lot of resource packs in my world but Lithos is the top most and then i fill the rest in with JohnSmith modded, then Dokucraft, and lastly Soartex (to fill in the gaps, but i would prefer to only use 32x)... but one of my favorite mods is Doggy Talents and there is a 32x version of the dog only and i don't like it (it's not unique). i believe are only a few items to texture in this mod and i just wanted to throw it out there since i love the style of this resource pack so very much!

Unfortunately CTM was designed before packs could stack, and you often get weird and unpredictable results when stacking packs with CTM. The results are unpredictable because each pack can apply CTM in a myriad of different ways. I can't really "fix" it because what works for one pack would break with another. 1.03 had no sandstone CTM, so it doesn't have this problem.
Without knowing how exactly the JM packs are set up, you can solve the problem by deleting Lithos' sandstone CTM.
Open up the pack and delete assets/minecraft/mcpatcger/ctm/sandstone
thanks so much for the explanation! i might have to delete the CTM sandstone because i *need* all the new textures that you added in 1.04 and i can't play Minecraft without alternate textures... they really add so much more detail to the game!
i went into the folder so i could delete the CTM sandstone files, and 13.png and 21.png are pink, as i had in the screenshot. is that how it's supposed to be? can i just delete those 2 .png files? (just wanted to confirm...)
edit: i also found a pink png in the CTM quartz folder, too... 1.png... and i didn't find any other pink ones in any of the other folders.
Yes those files are supposed to be pink. They are just lo-res stand-ins that get replaced by later CTM rules, to provide random alternate textures as part of vertical CTM.

Nope, sorry. Downloads for 1.5 are microscopic compared to 1.7 and up. I'm not doing any new work for 1.5 and 1.6
