Yeah, i agree. I've changed the clothes from their vanilla appearance (all that brown made some of them hard to tell apart), but each profession will wear identical uniforms. The work i need to do is to make each uniform look better.
I don't really like the villagers with purple faces and blue monobrows, just looks too unnatural.
I think i understand where you are coming from. My plan is however to innovate in a rather different direction.
I'm going to provide a ton of unique-looking individual villagers. I've created a layered file with different monobrow shapes and colors, expressions, skin colors, eye colors and distinguishing features. Combining them all in different ways i could (in theory) make more than 40,000 unique villagers. I'm thinking between 8 and 16 different villagers skins per class. This should make it a lot easier to find that one guy with the trade you want.
Something like this:
EDIT: i realized that zombie villagers are green, so i won't do any greenish skin for normal villagers.
Ok.... Now Come on!!!! You cant be this good?! cant be.. This has once again blown me away and exactly keeping to the style yet showing personality, Great work!!!
The poll is still on-going, but it looks like i'll be adding Lithos-style villager appearances to several mods in the next few updates. Thaumcraft and Mystcraft are in. I'm aware of Tinker's Construct and Forestry's specialized villagers, though i'm not certain if i'll support those mods. Mods like Millénaire and Minecraft Comes Alive are way too villager-intensive to support.
> Are there any other major mods that include a specialized villager that i should consider supporting?

Thanks. It is all possible through the organized use of layers and adjustment layers.

I may get rid of the blue monobrow, though i'm intentionally not especially sticking to realistic skin tones.

Makes sense, they obviously aren't human, so why give them human skin tones?
this looks good i will try it out
it seems to be a john smith tip pack and the 40 villager skins will help you find the right guy and makes them a little different

Just wanted to drop in and say great work on the resource pack and the success so far!
I started a new let's play series and uploaded the first episode and will be using your resource pack(unless subscribers complain). I know most people use the default for let's plays, but I just can't use it. So I needed to find something that I felt would be acceptable to viewers and not confuse them. I think your pack does an excellent job of maintaining a default feel but offering so much more beauty.

Yep. Remember you need MCPatcher or Optifine to see varied villagers.

Cool. I'll be following your comments to see how people like it in Let's Plays. I too am tired of seeing default in nearly all the minecraft videos.

Ok, looks good, I have subscibed to you. I am Jackson Mackey on YouTube btw.
I would also recommend reading this, it has some good tips on starting a YouTube channel out http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1845612-
Nice, but that enchantment table doesn't look very faithful.
It's not the vanilla table. It's the Enchantments Plus table. The original graphic is kind of a mess. I took some liberties making sense of it and fitting it to the recipe.
The Third Poll question: "I intend to split Lithos into 2 versions. One will be more faithful that Lithos currently is, and the other will be less faithful. One will be the main download, and one will be an add-on. Which should be which?"
It was pretty much neck in neck the whole time. I ended it at 29-36 in favor of less faithful.
I ended it when i realized that a lot of the stuff i had planned would be easier if it was the more faithful version as the base pack. For instance, new pretty biome colors for water, birch leaves, etc. can be added with MCPatcher. These obviously should go in the less-faithful version. It will be simpler to simply add these MCPatcher features to the less-faithful pack, than to add them to the base pack and then cancel them out in a more faithful add-on. Lots of the MCPatcher features will be applied to the base pack, like random alternate textures for the tree trunks, but exactly what goes where will be sorted out with time and feedback from you guys.
So i'm going to take the path of the more efficient workflow, and smaller downloads-- the base Lithos will be a bit more faithful.
What to call the Addon?
So that leaves me with another naming problem. What do i call this less-faithful add-on? Something descriptive like "Lithos: Less-Faithful, Beautifying Add-on" is descriptive but long and clunky. Or maybe "Lithos: Prettifying Add-on"
Update G adds a variety of stuff. First Mod support for Enchanting Plus & Chest Transporter. Finally i've started to work on the animated stuff-- the Portal and a quick animated torch are added. A new map background and Hunger, Health, Armor and XP bars also get the new look. I've also added a bunch of particle effects. See the Changelog for complete details.
The camo creepers and varied villagers require MCPatcher or Optifine.
On of my planned improvements is to clearly label the screenshots that include mods
I was just going to ask something about that. So I assume there is an option somewhere in optifine that allows you to turn off the custom mod textures? Still setting up my upcoming let's play and just reset all the mods so they running on default atm. Personally, I like the new creepers, but I do question the purple one I saw using spawn egg. But some mods that I may use in the future, like Special Mobs, already use alternate colored creepers so it would get confusing XD
Overall, the texture pack is amazing. I haven't actually used the full pack in a while and it is by far my favorite of all those I tried. I plan to use it in my let's play, with a link back here of course. The mod support really gave you an unfair advantage over the others too XD Too bad all the mods can't use your wonderful textures =\
Also, not sure if I mentioned these mods before, but they are some other to consider supporting: Ore Drop Mores 2, Dimensional Anchor/Chicken Chunks, Crystal Wing, TF2 Teleporters, More Furnaces/Better Furnaces, and maybe Inventory Saver (the bag block thing and the interface). It would also be cool to see a Lithos style skin for Damage Indicators, Craft Guide (if they got that working yet), and Direction HUD. And maybe even Mutant Creatures, although that is a bit bigger than most I mentioned (usually 1-5 blocks). Just some ideas anyway; either way I doubt you will run out of things to add anytime soon =P

Also, a villager mod that is quite popular is minecraft comes alive. Link: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/926757-

You can just call me Canary.
How not to look like a total fool in the forum games
