I'm actually kinda wondering if I should leave the banners alone or change them back in future releases. The thing is, there are a lot of banner designs out there (with Planet Minecraft having an entire banner generator) and changing their pattern pieces at all will mess up a lot of custom designs people have come up with. Maybe I'll put up a poll and see how many people feel as positively as you do.

Well, I mostly liked how it looked with the world I was already in, and the designs were all the Wily skull, so I may be getting ahead of myself. Great job, though.
Gotta say bro. This is an amazing recource pack. but I dont understand something. 1.6 works amazing, 1.7's frame rate is so awful. whats the difference?

I don't think that's got anything to do with my resource pack. You probably want to Google tips for how to get more FPS in Minecraft and check to make sure whatever lag problems you're getting happen with every resource pack you try, or only a select few, or if it's only happening in specific worlds you load. Megacraft Classic really shouldn't be causing any problems; even though it's relatively animation-intensive, it's still only 16x16 resolution.

i've downloaded this resource pack and i am amazed at the work put into it. it's absolutely amazing! ive done a tiny bit of work on a resource pack for myself. i am particularly excited about the different forms blocks can take. may i ask a quick question or two. i noticed those blocks that change texture in game such as netherrack10 are simply two textures one on top of the other in one file. is it that simple to do or do you have to do anything more to achieve this effect. secondly, is simply creating new files with the same name but a different number at the end of the file the way to create different textures for the same block or is there something else i need to do? cheers

It's kind of a complicated process. Those two-texture files contain two frames of animation and the file's corresponding .mcmeta file contains instructions for how to animate those frames. You can rename them anything you want to, but the animation file name must be the same as the texture's file name with only a .mcmeta at the end. When making multiple textures and animations, distinguishing them with a mere number at the end is probably the simplest way and it keeps you from becoming confused if you're making a lot of different textures for a single block.
After you've created the textures and their animation files, you then have to create a model file for each texture. Finally, you have to go to the blockstate folder and edit the corresponding blockstate file so it includes every model file you just made. You basically make a list with them and the blockstate file will pick a texture from that list semi-randomly as it generates blocks in-game.
I say semi-randomly because once the resource pack is loaded, the random textures are determined by a block's coordinates. They aren't shuffled every single time you reload the resource pack. In fact, the only time a block will change its random texture is if it's pushed to a new location by a piston or something else. Once in its new location, it will adopt the "random" texture assigned to its new coordinates.
Anyway, that's three steps.
One, draw the textures and code their animation files.
Two, make a model file for each texture.
Three, edit the proper blockstate file so it includes all those new model files.

OK! so I messed with some things that would usually cause lag(such as distance, fps, etc.) after doign that and setting it back IT WAS FINE! so yea... There's that.
Update 22, the "I Knew I Was Forgetting Something" update, has been released. It includes a reskin for Alex, corrections to the Farmland textures, and a few other various fixes and updates I overlooked last release. The Standard Galactic Alphabet has finally been replaced and Pigmen/Mummiras have a full set of sound effects. These updates have also been applied to the Final 1.7 release where applicable.
This update isn't in the changelog yet though because I've been having a ridiculous amount of trouble with the forums ruining my spacing, formatting, and just plain eating parts of the initial post whenever I try to update this topic. I may have to delete everything there and start over from scratch, but I won't do that without a fresh batch of screenshots to show for it first.

That's quite the daunting task. I might need help with that, not only because of all the various mods out there, but also because I'd have a hard time just recoloring the same graphics for multiple similar blocks and items. Mega Man games put a lot of effort into creating new graphics for each game and I'd like my resource pack to reflect that. Each new release has raised the standard of quality and I'd have a hard time going back on that.

Hey man, I wanted to ask, I'm participating in my NES Resource pack challenge, and I was really inspired by the stuff I've seen here while looking around, and it got me all nostalgic and wanting to make a Megaman based texture pack of my own! Now my questions are:
1. Are you cool with me releasing a pack in a very similar style to your own? I will not steal content by any means, unless by coincedince being that we are using the same source meterial.
2. Would you be totally against me using something like the name "Megacraft" for my logo.png? I know that might cause some confusion but that is just TOO perfect.
And if you're okay with those, I will totally give you %100 credit for inspiration on my entry and PMC post.
Also, don't worry about me butchering it and making a bad name for you. I grew up on megaman and I know I'll put love into it <3
I'm not sure I have any right to stop you one way or the other. My resource pack is based on someone else's work in the first place, after all, not on an original work like Tales from the Creature Keeper, so would you be stealing from me in the same way I've stolen from all the classic games?
That said though, I have yet to inspire any quality imitators, which is a shame. It'd be nice to see other Mega Man themed resource packs with some actual thought and care put into them and I think it could be neat to see, say, a pack similar to Megacraft Classic that is in a dedicated 8-bit style in contrast to my own, far more colorful work.

This is a very cool resource pack even for megaman fans, i realy enjoy playing with it and it has one thing i enjoy most: the game feels very different and is changed a lot. I like resource packs that do that, keep up the great work!

I will. There's another update on the way as I've figured out more ways to play with the blockstate mechanics. I'll even have the sounds.json working correctly in the next release! It's been taking a while to come out though due to my work schedule suddenly intensifying when the new year started. But that does give me more time to come up with ideas and make sure I'm satisfied with them.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the latest release is available on Curse now, and that's just the beginning. I'll get around to updating this topic and other places where the pack is posted as real life will allow, and between one thing and another, it hasn't been allowing for as much as I would like. My new career is VERY dynamic, but it's the best job I've ever had so far, so what're ya gonna do?
Check out some of the images I've attached to this post too to get an idea of what's changed.

This is my favorite resource pack to use! It definitely makes me feel like I'm playing a 3d Mega Man game!
If you need help with any mob textures or anything, let me know. I've made a couple Mega Man-themed skins on my Planet Minecraft page. and at one point I was actually attempting to make mod-support for this on my own.
I was so excited to use this, but it's very demanding I've allocated 5GB out of my 8 to Minecraft, and it's still very slow. xD It's probably just the animations xD But otherwise, amazing texture pack! I love the sounds.

Heh, thanks for the offer. If you want to keep trying to add mod support for this, be my guest! I've always wanted to work with someone on a project like this.
I'd need the support anyway as I've been riding out some rough waves in life. I still haven't redone this topic yet, but I've been posting updates on my Twitter feed at least. Occasionally I do something really demented and post it on Reddit too, like this:

This darn resource pack tends to lag out my computer too. My desktop is relatively ancient though; it still uses an AMD Phenom II processor. Newer computers ought to have a much easier time. It's a good thing I decided to stay at 16X16 resolution though instead of going for anything bigger.
