Well I've never had problems with playing Minecraft, and I've never encountered problems when using mods or texturepacks either. However, after updating to Minecraft 1.5, I've been experiencing odd issues with texture packs.
Initially, I accidentally downloaded a texture pack for 1.4.7. Realizing my foolish mistake, but heartbroken that the 1.5 pack wasn't out yet, I decided to download a placeholder texturepack while I waited for my preferred one (LB Photo Realism, if it matters) to come out. I downloaded another HD texturepack, called Misa's Realistic Texture Pack. This one was advertised to work with 1.5 but when I installed it, it updated only the UI and mobs like cows. The blocks were still vanilla. Confused, I deleted my entire .minecraft folder and redownloaded it straight from the minecraft.net official site. I patched it using MCPatcher 3.0.2, which is the newest version as far as I know, and dropped the .zip back into texture packs. Upon starting the game, the same issue occurred. At this point very confused, I went to my minecraft.jar and deleted the META-INF folder, thinking this to be the problem. But no, the problem persisted. Does anyone have any insight into what is causing the problem? Can anyone help me fix it?
There are two things I think MAY be the problem. In my .minecraft, I have a jar file for both minecraft and minecraft 1.5. Could that be causing conflict? And lastly, I used MCPatcher to change my java heap size to 4096. My computer has 8 gigs of installed memory though, so that shouldn't be a problem, right?
Thanks and sorry in advance, for any help you can offer and for the wall of text, respectively.
Even if you have nothing to offer, cheers for reading and have a nice day
