Today, The Better Things texture pack has been released to the public. Many people, such as myself, don't use texture packs, and like the default Minecraft textures. Many texture packs "over-do" minecraft completely, and are pretty confusing/complicated to use, and they ruin the entire Minecraft "feel." (TEXTURE PACK IS 16x16)
This texture pack leaves Minecraft textures as they were. Cows look like Minecraft cows, Villagers look like Minecraft Villagers. But it changes some textures, that I thought should be changed. Here are the changed textures:
Red-Stone- (see pic below) instead of the default redstone in Minecraft, which looks kind of weird, this texture pack re-models redstone, changing it from a mid-eval style wire, to a futuristic simple circuit.
Glass- Here is a big one. Glass in Minecraft has always been one that many people disliked. Say that you are building a large modern house, with big windows. Would you really use the standard glass? Instead, this texture pack "modernizes" glass, and creates a simple but effective and attractive design. Use it for both modern structures, and even mid eval designs, such as European castles.
Emerald ore- I have never really been a fan of how emerald ore looks like, especially when i mine it. Its now remodeled to resemble diamond ore, gold ore,...etc.
This Texture Pack is currently in BETA status, and some items won't look correct. There are a few bugs, (with textures) such as with wool. I will probably create a finished-polished texture pack, with more new textures, by the end of March.
If you have any other suggestions of which textures I should change, tell me in the thread. I will probably change the Boat, and the Minecart textures. Maybe the furnace. Pls give me suggestions.
Thanks,
PixoAero.
To users using the Opitifine mod: You might have to change some textures to see basic elements such as water. If you run vanilla Minecraft, you will have no problem.
UPDATE: THE BETTER THINGS TITLE IS NOT A TRADEMARK. I REPEAT, ITS NOT A TRADEMARK. APOLOGIES TO THOSE WHO THOUGHT THAT IT WAS A TRADEMARK DUE TO THE TM SIGN. lol. I added it because i thought that it would add humor. However, i have been mistaken. There is no (real) trademark on The Better Things Dunno how to change the title though...
It's not too bad. Of course, I haven't really seen that much of it, but that redstone is looking pretty neat.
@OP, from your description, it sounds like you've redone emerald ore to look like a green version of the other default ores. I'm going to tell you right now, you'll be much better off making your own original textures.

Very Interesting TP, I adds some contrasty colors to gravel and stones(cobble and brick) but, It is not very different to regular textures other than the glass and redstone.
Yeah, some people don't. It all depends on your taste and style. Castle builders probably wont like the new redstone or glass. People making complex redstone circuits might. Its also in beta, so there are a lot of things i need to implement, or change. Thanks for the feedback guys! Also, and tips/suggestions on what i should change in later versions? (What textures i should change), What are some of the things in MInecraft that look like they need to be changed, or edited?
If you don't have a trademark on the phrase, "Better Things" then don't act like you do...
This.
I could create a self-improvement book tomorrow called "The Better Things" and release it tomorrow and there's not a thing you could do about it. Talking like you have legal rights to something just because it makes you feel cool to copy and paste a "TM" from a special characters website doesn't mean it's your trademark.
As for the texture pack I don't really like it. There's plenty of other texture packs out there that make glass invisible and the redstone just looks like a square now. Everything else kind of feels like you've gone into Photoshop with the terrain.png and just upped the contrast.
The thing is, the redstone is just... A red square.
Yes, it is. I think we all know it, now don't we?
The fact is, this texture pack doesn't suit maybe 80% of the people. I'm pretty sure that all the posts (at least most) will be negative. I was expecting it to be so. It only suits those creating modern based structures, NOT ORDINARY minecraft players.
This.

Meh.
Lol. I thought that this would be obvious, especially with the pics...
You see...I DID simply go into terrain.png with paint.net and edit stuff, and up the contrast. Thats what i DID do. That is why i DIDNT state that this texture pack is "great" or "amazing." Personally, in this stage, even I dont like it. I am a novice in creating texture packs. This was a beta version. I am constantly learning on how to improve... The adfly link is for me to get money to buy new software, such as adobe photoshop or illustrator, to make better TP's.
Again, I know that all the texture packs out there are better than this one. I was expecting it to be so. As for the trademark, please read the post again. i updated it.
The trademark was NOT official. I just thought that it would add humor.
Hope this sums it up.

Dunno how to change the title though...
I'm a pixel artist who makes pixel things and maps! I also do line art occasionally.
I have two work in progress resource packs!
This is the second one!
And of course, by "work-in-progress" I mean "will never, ever be completed".
