Have you ever heard the phrase "Beauty is only skin deep"? In Minecraft, that's also the case; the best of threads are pointless once you don the suit of armor required to fight all those evil mobs. Wouldn't it be awesome if there was such a thing as invisible armor?
Well, look no further!
This (sort of) texture pack is exactly the same as the default Minecraft you would normally load without a texture pack, except that all the armor pieces are now see-through. In fact, unless you look at your inventory, it feels like you're wearing nothing at all.

BACKGROUND INFO (READ BEFORE FLAMING)
WHY DID YOU DO THIS?
Because I can?
Seriously though, when I designed my own skin, I was disappointed by not being able to see it without taking off my armor. Naturally, it's more difficult to play Survival mode without armor (unless you wimp out to Peaceful) so this was the necessary next step.
I did search Google for some existing invisible armor sets, and quickly realised that the existing packs only offered invisible armor for the standard Minecraft sets. Since I use mods that add extra armor sets (and I use these instead), I took it upon myself to make what was probably the 1542nd version of "invisible armor", but with the added support for other mods with additional armor, and in a place where people could easily find it.
OTHERS HAVE DONE THIS ALREADY.
I'm sure they have. In no way do I claim that this is an original idea (see above); I'm just trying to help fellow Miners like myself who use more than just the standard Minecraft.jar. The work I've done is my own, but the idea, the concept? Nope. However, if you can find a texture pack that does this, is compatible to the latest version of Minecraft, and also covers other mods, please, let me know. (Sarcasm; don't literally do that.)
BUT HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT I'M WEARING?
Other than endlessly checking your inventory screen, there are mods that can add HUD info for your armor. I use bspkrs' ArmorStatusHUD, but there are many others.
THIS ISN'T A REAL TEXTURE PACK! / YOU DIDN'T DO ANY REAL WORK! / EVEN I COULD HAVE DONE THIS!
That's great; if you read carefully you'll notice I agree with you 100%. However, Minecraft seems to think differently, so we're both wrong.
Glad we cleared that one up; hopefully I won't have to see it again in the comments below.
Well, I can hope, anyway.
COPYRIGHT INFORMATION
HAH! I don't own any copyright to any of this stuff; I simply took some nicely designed images, deleted the content inside, added a white dot, and threw the transparency back on. Big whoop, anybody can do that.
However, I do have to acknowledge other people's work; after all, I did make THEIR hard work disappear. You can find such acknowledgement in the "Supported Mods" section.
GOT A TEXTURE PACK YOU LOVE ALREADY?
So you have a texture pack you already love, but the idea of invisible armor is too irresistible to ignore? Well, there's an easy way to have both.
Most pros know how to do this already, but for those who are new to the game, if you have a texture pack you like already but want to add this feature as well, then read on:
Versions of Minecraft 1.5.x and earlier (SkinDeep v1.0.0):
* First, navigate into the SkinDeep.zip file, and in a separate window, also open the texture pack you want to use.
* Copy the contents of the "armor" folder in the SkinDeep.zip file and paste them into the "armor" folder of your texture pack.
Versions of Minecraft 1.6.x (SkinDeep v2.1.1 and later):
* First, navigate into the SkinDeep.zip file, and in a separate window, also open the texture pack you want to use.
* Copy the files in the "assets/minecraft" folder and paste them into the corresponding folders for each file (DO NOT COPY AND PASTE THE WHOLE FOLDER; doing so will break the other texture pack).
Versions of Minecraft 1.7.x and later (SkinDeep v2.1.1 and later):
* Simply insert this texture pack at the top of your list of resource packs. The only files in this pack are the invisible armour sets, so nothing else will be changed on your other texture packs.
If you use any mods which are listed below, and want their armor to be invisible as well, also copy over the items listed in the "Extra Content" line. (Versions 1.6.x and earlier)
SUPPORTED MODS
Want to add to this list? Send me a message and I'll have a look at adding support for additional mods. Please note however that I will not add support unless I have approval from the mod's author.

Thanks obviously to the team at Mojang for their game and all the authors of the mods I use, but especially to all the authors who essentially allowed me to undo some of their hard work, even if it is for a good cause.

I can see your point, but if you want to use SkinDeep, you'd have to go to the "Texture Packs" area of Minecraft to load it.
Updated to 2.1.0 by adding invisibility to horse armor and pig saddles. Wanted to add invisible saddles on horses, but the saddle design is part of the actual horse images, so to remove it I first have to identify which parts of the horse image are the saddle, delete those sections, and then replicate the changes across the nine different horse images.
Short version: I'm lazy.
Maybe I'll add it to a future update, but for now, that's all. Enjoy.
Id love to see this add support for Thaumcraft and Ars Magica.
Sorry for the belated reply Val.
I had a look at both mods and neither have armor sets to be seen. Is it a particular aspect or item set you want removed, or am I just missing something?
In other news, version 2.1.1 has been uploaded to put mod support back into the texture pack.
Passed two thousand downloads, almost at ten thousand views. Double-checked version 1.8.3 to make sure everything still works (although there's no reason why it shouldn't) and everything is still fine. Remember, post if you want other sets added.
