Hello everyone, this is my first texture pack that I've been working on for a while, so I thought I'd see what people think! It is currently a work in progress, so I'd say it's around 70% done. I still need to do a few blocks, and all the mobs, plus a few menu items.
My goal with this pack was mainly just to clean things up a bit. I removed almost all noise from the blocks and simplified the colors and designs, while not straying too far from the original textures.
I will be updating this every day or two, so stay tuned to see it all come together! Also a quick side note, the mushrooms and flowers are not staying the way they are, they were a temporary funny add in.
The 1.4.7 version of the pack is about 95% up to date with my 13w05a one I have done a lot of work in the new texture format, so the best show of my pack is the one that functions with the snapshots. I will post both though so everyone can give it a try, the only differences are some of the blocks in the new format render different and can't be easily transfered, so there are very subtle differences
Here are a few screenshots from the pack, with more to come.
These are of 1.4.7
And all the rest are from the 13w05a, ps, look at the sand and redstone
Please give me feedback with what you'd like to see done with this pack in the future as I work to finish it. Once this is done, I'll move to a 32x and so on if I get enough interest.
It's a start, but i see some common mistakes here:
-Decide whether you want to go full clean/simple or not. Leaving some blocks simple and others not just won't do
-Avoid editing default textures until you know what you're doing. By that time you probably won't need that
-Fix the sand tint. It looks more like urine right now
-Ores need stronger contrast
-The stone is... well, ugly.
It's clear that you tried to do something here, and that's commendable, but you first need to decide exactly what your pack is trying to be. I guess that's a general rule of life - Always know what your goal is.
*Ahem* My advice is for you to pick a theme and embrace the graininess, as there are much too many simple packs
Thanks for the quick feedback! That is good advise, as I have no real end goal picked out yet, it's juse been a fun side project of mine that has been getting a lot of attention lately due to new work schedules. Hopefully it'll start coming together soon.
Also as far as editing the default textures, I was doing that to try and stay somewhat close to the original pack. I am now moving away from that, and will start adding in my own designs.
I like the look of the texture pack, but like Balduran stated, it needs a specific theme. The sand could also use a darker touch, and the water would look better if it were a bit darker. Otherwise, this looks like a great texture pack!
Edited the original post as well, but I just updated the 1.4.7 one to be 95% the same as the 13w05a! I updated the download links as well, but here they are again. I also darkened the sand in the snapshot version, not sure if I got it in the 1.4.7 yet I'll update the photos tomorrow to show the changes.

...But that's just my opinion.
