Enter a world where anything is possible! Well, as long as it's defined by the game logic!
About:
This is a texture pack I've been working on since the early parts of 2013, Magical Realms. It's a simplistic pack (but not flood-fill MS-Paint level simple), set in a bright fantasy world where apparently magic reigns or something.
The idea is to create a bright pack with a distinct soft and simple theme, without falling to the level of the infamous "simple" texture packs of an era I thought was past but then I went to PMC, where people would make textures that were one shade, maybe with another shade for some outlines. Magical Realms is not a new idea: The initial version was developed around the beginning of 2012, but it was abandoned for not being very good. Recently, I decided to start making a newer version, applying all the things I've learned since I had originally did the 2012 version.
With this release, almost all of the terrain textures have been done. There are still a few missing ones, but there aren't all that many, you probably won't notice in average gameplay.
For your viewing pleasure, I present a picture from kab's test track:
I guess I mean simple in that it's not near as complex as other packs... but whatever, I don't think it matters too much.
Anyways, I uploaded a new version which fixes a few textures missing due to differences between the way minecraft loads textures out of zips and folders.
You know, I'm not certain what mods I'll be supporting in the future, but adding support for the gender mod should be simple enough.
On the subject of mods, I'm going to be looking into using various MCPatcher features for this texture pack. If you poke in the .zip, there's a test skybox script in there, using some graphics from team fortress 2's Hydro map to see if such a sky could work in Minecraft. I'm currently making some custom colors things, and CTM may also be supported in the future, if I have the patience for it.
The custom colors stuff should be within the next update, with new lightmaps in particular.
The archive generated by the build script has been tested, but not extensively. If anything is out of order or missing, please report it. If you look in the archive, there's some stuff in the wrong folders. I am yet to clean all of this up. The script takes care to remove WIP things that shouldn't be released, and all the source .PSD files, but if any of those are laying around, then something's gone wrong.
In theory this could allow for automated build system where updates are released at a specific time every day (like in software development!), but I'm not sure if that's really anything people care about. They're textures. I don't think the rate of development makes this all that nice anyways.
I will work on getting new screenshots out in the coming days.
This is awesome!

However, it isn't really a "simplistic" pack.(Take that as a compliment)

This new build includes the first of MCPatcher features, including custom lightmaps and some skyboxes. The skyboxes are currently experimental.

I'm not sure when I'll be able to get my tablet fixed, but hopefully soon. I really want to work on more textures.
