Its nice to see a 16x texture pack that actually looks better than default
Thank you!
I've tried very hard to make a 16x pack that people will actually enjoy using. I wanted something that looked higher resolution and as close to to realistic as could be squeezed into the default resolution. I'd like to think I succeeded.
In the unlikely event anyone was worried because this pack hasn't been updated in three weeks, I'm happy to announce that I am in fact not dead. In addition, I am nearly as pleased to announce that my hardware issues appear to be behind me, and I'm back to texturing. I'm not quite as pleased to announce, but still fairly proud of myself none the less, that I am posting this teaser image of some of the new Snapshot stuff coming in the next update:
I like this half derpy half serious stare and red noses rabbits have.
Love the ocean stuff as well, particularly the sea lantern!
Good job!
Thanks!
Yea, this was basically two updates worth of stuff. I'm happy you like the ocean stuff. I'm always worried when I work on a popular block that nobody will like my rendition of it. It's gratifying to know that someone likes what I've done. I'm also happy you like what I did with the rabbits. They're an odd creature that doesn't show a lot of emotion, so I wasn't really sure what to do to make them unique. In the end I just made them look furry and kinda cute and hoped that would be enough.
Good job making the bunnies look like, to quote someone we're both familiar with, half-derpy, and half-serious.
Now if only they had sounds, especially the killer rabbits...

C418 is reportedly working on the rabbit sounds. Hopefully they'll be added in before the official 1.8 release.
You need to make a 64 bit version. This is kinda low-res
Ah, so you're one of the ones who doesn't understand bits. Hold on...
Well, as it stands, this resource pack is 32-bit. You see, bits don't determine the size of a computer image, rather, it determines the amount of color you can have. You can have a 256x256 image, but it might be made using 8-bit colors; this resource pack uses 16x16 images, but it uses 32-bit colors.
You can have more colors because the more bits you have, the more information you can store, and the more information you can store, the more complex you can make things, which includes more varied colors. 32-bit images use a 256 value RGB color scale, meaning the red, green, and blue values of an image all have 256 intensities, and this allows for an insane amount of options when it comes to color variation.
If you were to make two images consisting of a rainbow (as in, it includes every color, not just a rainbow from white light refracted through a prism) at the same size, let's say it's big enough to hold every 64-bit color, but one is 64-bit and one is 32-bit, I'd say at least good 75% of people couldn't tell the difference between the two, and the 64-bit image would be using more memory than a 32-bit image requires, but not doubled; squared.
So a 64-bit version of this resource pack would be pointless and wasteful. The end.

I think you mean 64x64. As shadowreaperx correctly pointed out referring to bits in this case refers to color depth, not resolution.
But to address what you meant... I really don't. This pack wasn't made for people with higher end computers. It was made for people with crappy laptops like mine, or for people who just like the pixilated look of Minecraft but want a more consistent feel to it. There's already TONS of high-res packs out there. Sanity is what it is: an excellent and well-designed 16x pack.
Someday I may choose to make a higher-resolution pack. It won't be this pack made higher-resolution, though. If someone wants that, they're free to make it themselves. (Within the terms of my license of course)

Thank you very much for typing that so that I didn't have to. You're awesome. Don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise.

In particular I would REALLY like some feedback on the new End Stone introduced about three weeks ago. Nobody has said anything, and I'm starting to wonder what that means.
Who would've thought that one of the big topics of this pack, red or tan sandstone, would end up being completely unnecessary due to Mojang adding a second type? Was that this pack? I'm not switching this pack's thread with another pack's thread, right?
Was the grey cobblestone-looking block in the last screenshot the new End Stone? I haven't downloaded this pack in a while (because I've been discouraged from Minecraft due to the ever-decreasing play quality from my computer) but if that is the new End Stone, it does look good.

Nope, you're thinking of the right pack. And yea, waaaaaaaaay back in the first preview of this pack that was one of the things that I put up for a vote. I remember because the red sandstone actually WON that poll in spite of my being sure that everyone would hate it.
And yea, I'm glad I get to have both a yellow and red sandstone now. Of course, the new yellow isn't the same as the original yellow because that texture wasn't actually all that good.

Nope, that was Crystal from Mystcraft.
I haven't actually put a screenshot of the endstone up specifically because I want to see if anyone who has downloaded it and played with it will comment.
If your computer was having a difficult time with Minecraft, try the latest snapshots. My crappy laptop, which would chug hard on 1.7, is actually getting about 30fps with the latest versions. Give it a whirl and hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised.
I have noticed that the newest version of Minecraft runs more smoothly, but discouragement is discouragement.
Anyway, I downloaded the pack to check out the new stuff, and it's phenomenal as usual, even prompting me to create a cinematic-styled scene in my snapshot world and create an image in the style of your "Sanity is..." series of preview pictures...though with Flickr's new layout, I can't figure out how to post images...

Hope you don't mind me going ahead and putting this here...but it is in a spoiler...
Uh...Hrm...hold on...I changed the way I put the image in the post, so did that fix it for you? It was displaying just fine for me, so I myself can't tell if anything changed.
Seriously this stuff was much easier before Flickr changed everything...

Nope. Not working.
The link you're using is a dropbox link. It looks like it's the private file address, not a shared file. No idea what this has to do with Flickr.
