I dowloaded your pack about a week ago, just got to look at it yesterday.
And it is indeed really "sane"
I use optifine and no mcpatcher, because i'm too lazy too figure out how to use them both post 1.6...
So i'm not seeing the full features i'm affraid...
I love your fire and your "still" water animation.
About the cobble, looks good but i think maybe it doesn't look that good on big builds. Too noisy maybe.
It's really hard to make a texture that looks good over a large surface area, particularly cobblestone. In fact, if you ever find one that does look good on a large structure let me know; I'd love to analyze it.
But since i don't have the attention span too build anything larger than 5 blocks high, it's cool
Ow and the glass was default i think but that's probably because i don't have MCpatcher.
No, it's because you do have Optifine. It has its own connected textures that it activates by default, overriding the texture pack in places. I hate that it does this.
I'm going insane for Sanity! Am I right? HIGH FI- nope, I was just scratching my head.....that was a horrible joke. But anyway, I think your pack is awesome! Keep up the good work!
Dang. First post in ten days? By me? That's...wow.
I know. I was starting to think you had left me all alone.
Serious Question!
Which download sites you people use? The reason I'm asking is that I'm seriously considering removing my mediafire and dropbox mirrors, and hosting my pack exclusively on Curse.
The reason for this is twofold. First, it's a massive pain in the butt to update three download locations when only one of them gets a lot of traffic.
Second, Mediafire has really started to get on my nerves with their advertising, and are now using a lot of the same ad partners as adf.ly with whom I refuse to do business with because of their poor practices. Apparently this has been going on for a while, but I just didn't notice it because I block ads on their site. Regardless, I'd love to drop them as a mirror for this reason.
Now... with that said I don't want to snub anyone. If there's anyone who really needs me to have those mirrors I'll keep using them. Everyone has different circumstances that they surf the internet under and I don't want to say no to anyone if I can help it.
Please vote in the poll above to tell me how you feel about this issue. Thank you.
Edit: The main Mediafire link is being removed on a trial basis starting with the next version of the pack. If anyone is particularly bothered by this, please post in this thread explaining why. Thank you.
Honestly, I could care less about the downloads; I just use the link I see first, especially since I use AdBlock. I do like when people use dropbox, but probably only from the perspective of "I use it so I like seeing it."

I'll probably keep dropbox for the time being just because I like having a mirror in case something goes wrong with Curse.
Doesn't bother me, my priority when downloading is curse because I use it plus it's clean and direct. I dislike adfly even though I block it because It's so overused with everyone trying to farm traffic also the ads are shifty and deceptive to say the least.
Yea, this is why I don't use adf.ly. No amount of money will ease my conscience if I contributed to someone's machine getting infected with that crap.
EDIT: Just downloaded something from media fire and a popup window ad appeared. I think I'll remove my mediafire link as well, I really don't like those.
Yea, I noticed that Mediafire has started partnering with some of the same advertisers that adf.ly uses, which is what prompted this move.
So far only one person has said they need Mediafire, and didn't bother to comment to explain why so I'm going to assume it was someone who didn't understand the word "need" and just picked what they're most accustomed to.
If you're looking for a site that shortens URLs as well as pays you for clicks, I don't really know of a safe one. I will say that adfly links should become banned on the forums pretty soon. Used one from Planetminecraft that had an ad that was a javascript "Click to start downloading!" sort of pop-up looking thing, which could fool many people. I got a few nasty viruses specifically from java exploits in the last year, and now use adblock permanently for this reason.
Feel free to get paid somehow for your work but don't do it at the expense of other people's privacy or pc health.
Edit: Same goes for Mediafire; I no longer consider it safe (antivirus has stopped a few things coming from it in the last 3-4 months). An alternative to dropbox is mega.co.nz or whatever, a free cloud space service I believe. I don't remember what ads are on either site (such as "Click to start download" stuff) but they're definitely safer than mediafire to me.
For those wondering, java exploits do not require you to click them (usually) to get access to your computer and start installing crap.

I really don't care about getting paid. Curse works well enough for that, and thus far I haven't seen anything malicious on their site.
I doubt adf.ly will be banned on the forums simply because it's popular and the admins will probably not want to lose the traffic from having two of the most popular sections (mods and packs) suddenly evacuate the site. I agree that it should be banned, though. Fortunately I'd never consider using it. It's basically on the poll just to see how many people care about that issue over an individual file host.

Pretty much this whole poll thing is about me wanting to drop Mediafire because of this very issue. I've grown really upset with how they handle their advertising and want to get rid of it. On the other hand, I don't want to inconvenience anyone, or make my pack inaccessible to anyone. If a bunch of people want me to continue using it, I will. That said, the only three people who've voted that say they "need" a Mediafire download haven't bothered to post to explain why, so I'm guessing it's not all that important to them.
I'll probably never go with Mega simply because of the history of the site. I'm pretty sure anyone who visits that site gets automatically put on a piracy watch list.
sorry I have been super busy, playing tf2 and g-mod and all, I couldn't find the time come on to minecraft forums, but now that I am on I must say I love your glass also at first I thought that those were one block, not 8,

Thanks! I wanted to make it as easy as clean as possible to have large areas of the glass all together. I hate the grid created by the default, and while I do have pronounced corners they're pretty easy to see around. Anyway, I'm glad you like it.
Now that the transparency is fixed in the latest Minecraft snapshot, do you think I should make them more transparent?
I find this transparency proper. They're gorgious, somekind of happy too.
Thanks! I was worried they were a bit over-saturated to fit in with the rest of the pack. I kind of still think that they are, but yet I really don't want to change them. Particularly because I already set a precedent with the wool, and now want to stick to it.
going to download as soon as my antivirus stops being retarded, at the moment it flags every download as "dangerous" and terminates internet connection

McAffe or Avast?
Anyway, good luck getting it to work. Let me know what you think of the changes!
I think this is good and all, but, isnt this a custom painterly pack...
Nope. Not at all. Everything I've done was done from scratch with tender loving care.
I'll take that as a compliment, though.
If you find something in particular that you feel is too close to Painterly, let me know and I'll re-do it. As good as painterly is, I don't want people think I'm taking their stuff. I hate thieves as much as the next person.

ModeratorI've never had a problem with them. I guess they just take a while to get used to.
No, that was two horrible jokes in a row.
Thanks! Will do!

Curse PremiumIt's so pretty!Er...*ahem*...Yeah...that'll brighten up my world by a lot!
For luck I like the idea of a golden hook, but how about for lure either a magnet or a piece of bread?

ModeratorThere are limits to how much I can really do with the enchanting glint system. For now I've gone with that I feel is my best option.
I know. I was starting to think you had left me all alone.

As always feedback is greatly appreciated.
Don't forget to vote in the poll and to tell me if the move away from Mediafire is going to negatively affect you in any major way!

Read the FAQ in the OP. The "I'll never use adf.ly" bit has been there from day one for exactly this reason.

ModeratorErr... wrong script.
OK, so, I'm bored and I thought I'd improve a few of the textures in my pack. Tell me what you think:
I've improved glass, glass panes, chests, trap chests, sand, and red sand. Feedback is, as always, appreciated!
