So how would you feel if I made a mod that could edit the display colors and missing features from mcpatcher similar to what xbox does? for example sky_0 or sky_plains = int. It would also allow for underlava and leashes/fishing line that mcpatcher doesn't support. It will be called resource pack lib but, I am not sure if I have the time to make it if it requires ASM to change all the colors or if I can just use reflection helper/forge events
The lib would also support custom skin transparency and custom model per skin and also in game skin switcher. This won't effect your mojang skin but, will display to you and everyone that your skin and model has changed. Transparent skins allow for complex ghost like skins. The skins will be in a skin pack that you download/create
I definitely prefer what you have there. I do find myself missing some of the border highlights but the new slots are all so beautiful I'm more than fine with it.
And I know I'm years late to say this but fantastic work on Sanity, Alvoria. It's an absolute delight with all the unique textures and care put in. ♥
Thank you very much for your feedback. I've been continuing to work on updating the GUI off and on, and I hope to have an update out with all of these soon.

Here's the thing about that... would anyone use it?
I recently came across the ConnectedTexturesMod, which seems to be superior to the Optifine feature of the same name in virtually every single way. And yet, I'd never even heard of it before now. Why? Well... because as a standalone it's not something most people would really seek out to install. MCPatcher was a requirement for HD packs back in the day and Optifine has until recently been primarily about optimization rather than resource pack features.
Now... if you want to make a mod like that I absolutely support you doing it! But for me personally, I don't think I'd ever use it unless it were a Liteloader mod and compatible with Optifine. The reason for this is that if I'm not playing modded, I don't want to install Forge as it bogs down my computer needlessly. And if I am playing modded then I want to maximize performance so I'd forgo all aesthetic mods. While I'm sure that someone would use it, I don't think that someone would likely be me. Again, unless you made it a Liteloader mod that could run along side Optifne... which is unlikely because Optifine loves to conflict with other graphics mods.
But that's just my two cents and if that concept inspires to you make something then by all means don't let me stop you! Go forth and create whatever it is that's in your heart to make!
you wouldn't use skinpacks with custom models per skin like xbox I heard of at least 30 people looking for this feature? You wouldn't use custom overlay colors like sky_end or fog_nether? Where optifine forces blending and I would just change the actual color. There would be also swampgrass1 and swampgrass2.
It would literally be supporting what xbox supports that pc doesn't optifine is a forge mod yes they have some weird profiling way of doing it but, otherwise the way you install it as a mod itself
Example Color file of xbox converted to pc that would be supported

I wouldn't use skinpacks period. I like making my own character skin. I don't want to pay for someone else's.
But I do understand what you mean. Again though, it's a matter of economy. For me personally it probably wouldn't be worth it to add support for a lot of those features to my pack unless I actually went and started re-adding mod support. (Which is a thing that may eventually happen on a long enough time-frame maybe) But I wouldn't likely add it as a standalone, just like I'm not adding any special features for the Chisel CTM mod I linked above. It's just not worth the system drain to install Forge for me to play vanilla, and most people who do play modded will overlook resource pack features since there's no packs that do textures for their entire mod collection... unless of course that mod is a prerequisite for something else.
As to the file you linked, Optifine already does quite a lot of that. It'd be nice if the creator cooled it with the shaders stuff and added more resource pack features. They're coming at a trickle and it doesn't appear that some of the big deficiencies will be fixed or changed any time soon. Again, economy of time for him I suppose.
But again, if you think that this is a thing that'll be in demand and that you can pull it off... GO FOR IT! Don't lean on my opinion. Besides, once I see what it's capable of I might very well change my mind! Have fun, and create what YOU want to create!

Who said you would pay for any skinpacks my rplib wouldn't support the market place. Simply put in a pc format skinpack an use it. You can create your own skins/skinpack if you wish.
Optifine deosn't allow for custom skys per biome nor does it allow to replace the sky color without screwing everything up. If you simply give it a color for the sky it auto blends it with the previous one whether or not you want it. It doesn't do any mob coloring nor materials, it doesn't do over 90% of it. You can't change until recently under_lava and you still can't change under_lava_fog. You still can't change the swamp base colors

At this point we're off topic with this so I'm going to have to ask that this conversation end lest I have to give us both warnings.
My final thought on the issue is this: show me. Show me what you can do. Show me what you can make. Show me something that I'll want to use... and if you do that then I will use it. Observe the artist's maxim: Show, don't tell.

ok sorry should have just msged you.

for 1.13 are you going to change your entire texture pack since vanilla did? I hope not
I'm going to continue to improve my pack the same as I always have. If something changes, it's because I've improved it and not because I feel obligated to change it just because Mojang did. Of course I'll always accommodate the functionality of vanilla MC, but I won't change my textures just because Mojang changed theirs. That would be silly.
I do like Curse as a host, but they have a horrible habit of breaking links without telling me. Thanks for letting me know dude. I'll update all of my links right now.
BTW, would anyone like me to work on that add-on again? I've got one more big update I want to do for the main pack, but after that I wouldn't mind working on the Christmas Add-on if people want me to. Let me know what you think I should work on!
First, SUPER HUGE THANKS to everyone who gave feedback on my last textures. I really appreciate it. It's motivated me to work hard on revamping or improving all of the GUIs for "Sanity" to hopefully look a lot better to you all!
Speaking of which, I have a couple more for you all to critique and/or enjoy.
With Optifine's new features, this GUI is also a bit different in that the lights will only encircle the parts that are available rather than just showing buttons. So for instance if the beacon can't go up to Strength 4, the right-hand side won't have that blue glow around it. You'll still see the icons for the effects, but they won't be "lit up" the way they are now. You'll see what I'm talking about when you get your hands on it... assuming you use Optifine.
The old villager GUI was cute, but I wanted something that fit the theme a bit more. The idea of a little makeshift shop seemed like a natural fit. A bit off for the theme of the back, but I didn't know what else to do to make it look good. Hopefully this comes across well and is easy to use. Let me know what you think, or what you'd like to see improved!
I'm trying to get the rest of these finished so that I can get a release out and start working more on the Christmas Add-on (Which is going to look AMAZING with an upcoming Optifine feature). The only problem is I'm not really sure what to do for the crafting table. The layout is fighting me really hard for every single idea I come up with. Same goes for the main menu buttons. I want to improve them so badly but the way they work is just killing me.
If you have any suggestions for any thing mentioned here, or just in general, let me know. Hopefully I'll figure something out. Feedback is always appreciated for any of my designs.
This is the last 1.12.2 Update for the core pack. Check it out!
This one took Waaaaaay longer than expected, mainly due to real-life stuff getting in the way. That and the fact that I bit off way more than I could chew, metaphorically speaking, by redoing half of the GUI elements in the pack.
It put a TON of work into this update so I really hope that you enjoy it. You can download the latest version of this pack from the link below:
Feedback and encouragement are always greatly appreciated. Also, would anyone give me money if I opened a Patreon? Not for nothing, but I'm kind of a starving artist here and would like money. Since this pack doesn't actually pay anything anymore due to how Curse is doing their rewards program, I'd be interested in knowing if there are any fans of this pack who'd just be willing to pay me for monthly updates.
Let me know, and in the meantime please enjoy!
(Oh, and if all goes well I'll have an update for the Christmas Add-on Pack next week. Look forward to that! )
And sorry it took me so long to reply. The bad part about being a moderator is that I get so caught up in beating down spammers that I occasionally forget to actually reply to people who I need to get back to.
Hopefully this update will soothe any hurt feelings from be being tardy in thanking you for your feedback.
Also I was not much a fan of the diorite before. The new one is way better IMO.
Thank you very much!
Yea, all three of the special types of stone were pretty bleh in my opinion. I didn't know what to do with them at the time, but I feel like I got a better bead on it this time. The Andesite might be too dark now, but I can always tweak it a bit later if people bring it to my attention that it's still not right.
In other news...
Yup, I'm working on the Christmas Add-on pack again!
In fact, there's already a 1.12.2 version up on Curse. It's pretty hush-hush though. I'm not "officially" releasing it until I can get a better set of download buttons done (because the current graphics are old and not very good) but those of you who follow this thread can still go download it. But don't tell anyone... unless they also like this pack at which point feel free to clue them in. I trust your judgement.
Until then, I hope you're all having a wonderful December. Take care!

The Sanity Christmas Add-On has been updated to Minecraft 1.12.2!
I'm very happy to have this available again after not updating it last year. I really hope that you all enjoy how much effort I'm putting into it this year. I plan to update it a few more times this month. Hopefully I'll be able to do that. No idea if I will or not, but that's the plan anyway.
You can download the latest version of this pack from the link below:
Don't forget that you need to stack it ABOVE the regular version of "Sanity" to get the full effect.
Feedback, praise, and ideas are appreciated. Remember that more than anything, it's your comments that keep me motivated to continue to work on this pack. Even if all you post is a quick "thank you" to me, that means a lot to me. I'd prefer proper critiques, feedback, and reports of problems... but I'll still be happy a brief show of gratitude.
This is so very cool. I'm happy that Optifine now includes Emissive textures. When using the Christmas Add-On pack, make sure you have the latest version of Optifine installed for 1.12.2. If you don't, you won't see the nice glowing textures on the trees.
I'll be adding a lot more awesome lighting to the pack in future updates. For now, just enjoy these little trees.
