This pack originally started from a suggestion. I came across a topic in which someone was asking about performance. I suggested they get a low resolution pack in addition to other actions to increase fps. I decided that I would help out more by dropping a link to a 4x4 pack, but when I checked the "tiny textures" category in the Texture Pack central, I found no 4x4 texture packs! If one is looking to increase fps, 4x4 is the lowest resolution you can get while still being able to recognize the blocks, and that said, I figured that the Texture Pack Central, and perhaps the forum (though I haven't thoroughly checked) was lacking a good fps boosting pack with that bit of recognizable texture that a 4x4 pack could achieve. I started to work on it, and after starting with the stone, dirt and sand, found that I had a quaint little pattern or style started. I continued with it and managed to finish the entire terrain.png. The terrain.png is the soul of a texture pack, yet I have always run into problems along the way and never finished one. This pack, though it's 4x4 pixels, does have a completely finished terrain.png that I can look back on and be happy with. I have used the best colours I could find while considering the point of making everything recognizable, so I hope that my choice is decent. I hope you try it and enjoy it. Whether you got it and enjoyed it or not, feedback is always appreciated!
Pertaining to the style of the pack to fill in for those looking for specific types of 4x4 texture packs, I made this pack with the intent of having subtle shading and texture, so it is appealing and easy on the eyes. With higher resolution texture packs, you can merge one colour into another to ease contrast for a smoother texture, but in LD texture packs, this cannot be done. The 4x4 texture packs I've seen tried to work of a colour palette similar to your average SD and HD texture pack, which creates very unappealing contrast. When those colours are thrust upon each other in a 4x4 texture containing only 16 pixels over all, it makes the actual texture hard to see and it makes and tiling and repeating errors magnified by the square root of 16, which is exactly what the texture pack's resolution is. I tried to keep contrast to a minimum to make the textures look smooth and make the world as sleek and easy on the eyes as it is with HD texture packs, so people can use this for FPS increases without needing to suffer from eye-searing contrast. I also hope people with decent PCs can also enjoy it without the unappealing aspect of other LD texture packs I've seen.
As the subject is still disputed sometimes, I will provide proof that the Genuine 4x4 version increases FPS.

There are 4 levels of licensing ownership represented by your emblem, which is chosen by YOU, which is why you must be given the emblem.
Gold: A strict level of security. Having this on your pack indicates that your textures can only be used after written permission is obtained from the creator of the pack. It also indicates that adfly links on remixes are never acceptable, under any circumstances.
4x4 texture packs have a glitch, as some textures, like torches, switches, etc. Can't be centred, and as such create graphical errors. They are only minor errors, so I have a genuine 4x4 version, and a simulated 4x4 version. The simulated 4x4 version uses the original 16x16 canvas to center textures and fix glitches, but will not increase fps, as it is the same resolution as the default.

Really nice texture pack. Are the items done? If so, I'll DL.
Thanks! Sorry, I don't have the items in yet. I'm working on them, but the fps increase will only take effect if all images in the pack are smaller, so I can't add in the items.png until the image is finished. I already have it started, and it is 4x4, so it shouldn't take too long...
I'm glad you like it though.

Not sure about the checkerboard pattern you've mostly used but I do like the way you've done the flowing water.
Thank you. There aren't actually that many patterns one can make with a 4x4 pack, and the soft diagonal stripes were already used on the stone and sand, plus, it didn't really fit dirt. So I made that pattern. And found that several blocks look good in 4x4 with that similar pattern. I can't really think of any better patterns to make that are do-able in a 4x4... I might experiment with it, though.
Thanks for your feedback!

they make me have an urge to make my own kinda like it! xD
I know that feeling. Half of the packs I look at, I feel my face morphing into "Me Gusta"... I think it is packs that have a sort-of "catchy" look, like how you can get a catchy tune stuck in your head.

I figured someone would notice that. I thought it looked good as 4x4 dirt, but whenever I use it, I feel like making an actual Sonic pack.

With such an urge, I probably would have made one, but I think this pack sums it up pretty well.

Thanks! Sometimes it only takes that many pixels depending on the style. I hope it worked out for me that way!
Thanks, I'm glad you like it (and the others as well)
