I loved Torojima's Chococraft the second I saw it. But, I felt it's textures were never going to fit with my 99% HD pack. So, as a graphic design major in college, my first instinct was to do my own! Here is what I came up with:
These are all hand drawn, with a mouse, in Gimp. I decided on a soft, cartoon style for the items because I simply felt it fit the mod. Constructive criticism is very welcome, but I'm not likely to change things on request. If you want to do some editing of your own, I can email my .xcf files. I honestly don't care much if people use my textures as a base for theirs, but I would prefer that people credit me and link to this post.
Edit: I've got to at least do a version of this with all of the chicobo colors. I like it as is, but some of my friends are going to have a fit if I don't "fix it." I'll fix pictures when I fix chicobos, which will probably be within the week.
Important stuff:
-THIS IS NOT A FULL TEXTURE PACK. This only includes textures for Torojima's Chococraft mod
-The armor isn't edited, I know. I don't really intend to use it, and since I made the textures primarily for myself, I didn't bother with it. I might...eventually.
-There are a few oddities, like a stray pair of pixels on the end of the tail and something strange that I can't seem to fix on some of the items, like the gyshal seeds.
-Yes, there are only three chicobo colors. Here is my reasoning: a white hen has a yellow chick, right? And crows' chicks are gray. I feel this adds a little mystery and fun to breeding, as well as an element of realism. (I do however intend to brighten up the chicobo textures later though, they're a little flat)
Installation:
-UNZIP the Chococraft textures.zip
-Go into your mods folder, where chococraft is installed.
-Inside of the Chococraft_2.3.4.zip is a resources folder. Open it.
-Copy&Paste the contents of chococraft textures.zip into the resources folder, overwrite everything.
-Start Minecraft & enjoy!
I've never posted a download before, so go easy on me if I messed a few things up, I'm still learning.
This is AWESOME it makes the chocobos so cool. And the fact that this looks so much like they do in FF it's just that much more awesome

You think you're good at Minecraft? HA, NOPE.I can find and mine a diamond on a random seed in 10 minutes.I PUNCHED THE FREAKING ENDER DRAGON TO DEATH. I found 10 villages, 3 ravines, 2 abandoned mines, and 1 stronghold in a 105 chunk range in a randomized seed
I just started working on support for this as well, but maybe I won't need to now. lol I'll give it some play and if it works well enough I will link to you for any of my packs users that are looking for ChocoCraft textures.
good job, nice to have textures matching the higher res packs. I hope you get around to the choco suit aswell, I want my disguise to blend in with the rest of the chocobos

I'll probably do the suit after I learn a little more about the layout of armor on the .png That's my biggest obstacle.
Hello. I've chosen to use your textures even though they don't match DokuCraft dark because your textures look better than default.
Anyway, I just signed up to post that I know why you have mysterious floating pixels on your tail feathers. I made the same mistake when I was editing the gui for dokucraft. You have some almost completely transparent pixels in that spot. Minecraft can't do semi-transparency, so it turns them opaque in game.

Hello again. Just making an update. I've been messing around with your textures a bit since I posted this and I've discovered that you actually have a lot of nearly-transparent areas in your textures. I have no idea why some of those pixels appear in game and others don't, but it might just be that the areas that don't show up are just close enough to transparent to be ignored.
Either way, I looked at your item texture and noticed there's semi transparency around the edges of your items, which could be what's making your items look weird when you hold them. I'm not sure if that was the issue you described with your items, but it's an observation I've made.
The way I'm finding these transparent pixels is that I've brought the images into photoshop. I select a color like 00FF00 (a very bright lime green color to make it easier to spot things) and I use the paint bucket with anti-aliasing off (so it won't affect neighboring pixels) and contiguous off (so it will fill all areas in the image that have the exact same color and transparency, not just where I click) and tolerance to 0 (so it will only affect pixels that are the exact same color and transparency, not pixels that are nearly the same) then I click a transparent area. All the nearly-transparent pixels will remain nearly transparent, which makes them easy to spot.
I wish I had photoshop so bad ^^' Thanks for the info, DarthMisium, I thought the transparencies might make things odd. The best solution I can think of would be going in and erasing the transparent parts or making them more solid. I'll be getting to the items right after revamping the chicobos
