That redstone block looks really nice! I love that style!
Those tools are looking ridiculous in comparison to each-other, in a good way.
How do you cut out those block previews smoothly though? I can cut them smoothly as well, but somehow I feel like actual in-game greenscreening isn't the typical way of doing it. I temporarily make the glowstone a bright green (because glowstone produces light, so they would all have the same light level and brightness), make a room out of it, and take a screenshot of the block in it so I can easily cut the high contrasting green out. Is that similar to how you do it?

Pretty much, For the redstone block and other 1.5 items in the pic up a few posts I did it during the day in front of iron blocks, cause my iron is really dark, so it works well for me.
Here it is before I cut it out:
To cut it out I just use the polygon selection tool in Photoshop and for the presentation I use a very subtle inner shadow (to throw off any little pixels I missed during the cutout stage) and a little less subtle outer glow to distract from any other flaws (nice just for presentation as well)
I have used the light stone method like you do before as well, works great!
Hope this helps you
And thanks for the compliment on the tools, I'm very happy with them so far!
Edit: ah yes, I also up the exposure a bit after cutting them out because I find the blocks are too dark when snapped in game.
Edit2: In the past I've also used Nova skin (recently overhauled but you can switch to the old version which is what I used) Change the back ground to whatever you like (Bright green, White, etc...) Load up your pack choose the block you want, position it, screen capture (prtscn, w/e) paste into editor, cut, vuala!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who does something similar to that. I got a new computer, and I needed to make a new green screen room (because I make entire underground rooms to avoid mob interference), so I'm making a much larger one this time. It isn't quite done yet but I am intending for it to be large enough to comfortably green-screen a Ghast. It doesn't look large from the screenshot, but it is 16 blocks tall. This is what it looks like when I am using it though.

What block have you subjected to the punishment of being the "greenscreen block?"

I used glowstone because it produces light, so all blocks will be the same light level even with smooth lighting on. I also gave it such "punishment" for having an ugly default texture.

Sky, my man! I've been so closeted away over the festive period trying to catch up, I had no idea how much you'd progressed with this.
Having just updated, I have a little spare time to treat myself...and I'm so excited to try this out! The sheer quantity of stuff you've produced at this level of perfection is just amazing! In fact it's utterly breathtaking!
So I doff my cap to you, sir. ...Oops! Look what fell out! -->
Hey there sky Again some feedback from an optifine-user I just saw that there sadly is no ctm support for the glasspanes. I'm sure you did not do this on purpose, lastly I also only found out why there is a difference cause I changed something in another TP.
In your TP the "default" ctm.png is missing, I don't know why they take the ctm for the panes from this file but they do it. It would be nice if you would add a little bit more optifine-compatibility in the future
Other than that, the pack just got more awesome since I played with it last time
There is only one (or two) thing(s) I would like to see in this pack For the TP I am using some awesom guy (sadly I have no idea at all who it was) created some kind of ingame texture for the wooden and the stone button aswell as for the two pressureplates. And I must say, it looks alot better than having a strange kind of pattern on a little button.
I will try to get some good screens to show you what I mean.
Greetings
Edit:
The default look in the TP I mostly use.
The changed style I meant. (I play with this )
Your TP
Compare
Edit2:
Ah I forgot something. Could you please check all the gui screens with german language? The guis with just a Textbox mostly work fine (just some boxes are a tiny bit too short). But the ones with text, look strange as they missmach with the german words. Maby you could do something there...^^
Thanks for all the feedback man, I'll definetly look into getting all tat stuff fixed for ya

Sky, is this pack updated to snapshot 13w03b, and you just didn't update the title? Or are you still working on it because now textures are starting to have their own png's?
Aaaaand of course I don't look at the previous comments before I open my mouth. Sorry for asking an ignorant question before I saw that you were working with the new formatting. Should have looked at previous first. Lesson learned.
Not sure man, maybe if I can think of a worthy theme, I was kind of thinking of doing a light texture pack, since this last one was pretty dark. I have nothing going on after Christmas so we'll see
Hmmmmmm. Might I suggest instead of a 4th texture pack that you expand on this texture pack and do some of the mods? The only thing better than perfection is more perfection, after all.

I would have to actually disagree with you. I don't think he should focus on this forever, its amazing as it is. Instead of overfeeding a healthy horse, he should start on a new project now that this one has reached the level it is at. Still, I hope he does keep this texture pack up to date with the patches, and doesn't lose his great connection with his fans, though I see no valid reason to worry about that. I would love to see the lighter side of his artistic abilities! I can already see some of it with the Sky creeper

Don't worry guys, This pack is my baby and will definitely be kept updated Can't say the same for my first 2 packs tho, maybe if I find some free time after I finish my current project I'll update them, tho my style has changed drastically since those packs.. but we'll see.
Anyways, I don't know if you guys have been following me on facebook, but I've been pumpin out some 512x textures and its been going pretty great so far . I'll throw what I have done so far in a spoiler at the bottom for ya, Let me know what you think about them
Once I'm done all the 512's I'm hoping ill be able to re-size them to a 256x pack and a 128x pack
']
Phew! the end, Enjoy my friends

Wow, those look amazing! And I thought that 64x was your thing, this is the direct antithesis! In other words, it seems your able to accomplish anything
Looking good Mr looking good!....i feel I may have inspired a few people recently It seems to be pushing folks to really bring out their best. I don't say that in big headed way, just from the comments and work that's appearing from some great artists on here especially in the Texture Artists Union thread
I've still got lots to do on my pack layout but must focus on the pack itself!
Hmm, that's strange.. Try another browser maybe, Im sorry I'm not sure why it would be doing that.
