In testing the texture pack, I noticed that with my current settings, there was a purple haze over the screen.
Syclone had an easy fix though, you just turn off Custom Colors in Video Settings > Quality.
Now for a full report.
I played using the nonshader pack for about an hour, and I can say that I'm impressed. Overall, it's a bit darker than I'm used to with Sphax, (However I did spend a good amount of time underground or in caves, where it's supposed to be dark) but I like the feel of it. I started with the 64x, but I didn't really like it - up close, it was pretty pixelated. But it kinda has to be in order to be 64x. The 128x version looks very nice, and didn't really affect the performance.
One thing that seemed to be giving me a bit of lag was the animated torches, specifically when I held torches in my hand. Overall though, I didn't actually notice much lag and ran surprisingly smoothly, even running 128 and sprinting across the world.
From what I can guess from the screenshots in this thread, this pack really is best with shaders (which I think was the point). After playing with it, probably the only other pack I'd use is Sphax from time to time. It's really great!
If anyone wants to know, I'm using a 15'' MacBook Pro, 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 with 4GB of RAM and the Intel HD 3000 Graphics.
I discovered a few hiccups that you may or may not be aware of, Syclone.
There's this weird blue spot on the bed. (This is running 64x, which is why it's pixelated.)
Also the font color makes things really hard to read. On signs it's virtually impossible to make out what they say.
In general, I don't really like the font too much. It doesn't seem to fit the style, in my opinion.
Finally, I just wanted to end with one last screenshot.
It's beautiful. In summary, I really love this texture pack. There actually is a good bit of Sphax left, even though it doesn't really look like it from this thread. Nonetheless, I'm still really pumped about this texture pack and can't wait to see it develop further! Awesome job Syclone!

I'll go through some of your findings.
Yes still an amount of Sphax ( i do my best to not show any when i take screen shots) i haven't replaced on the terrain and more so the items How did you like the tools/items?
The signs have not been lightened for any of the non shader versions "yet" but the terrain has, they will be rather dark. I will get a light version sorted and send over the files just drop it in the relevant folder.
Youre the first to say you have an issue with the font but again that's personal preference and can be easily changed. It's not finished and has some spacing errors also.
If the animations lag your system you can turn them off in the optifine settings in game.
You mentioned that it can look a little darker in non shader, i can still brighten the textures even more, i was looking at making the stone lighter. It wont be quite as light as say Sphax because there's is a lot more detail in each block, rather than more cartoon simple shading but as i said i can still lighten the textures more
Hmm the bed.......lol its a piece of ice texture I've accidentally placed on the pillow in the terrain file whoops will get rid of that I'm looking at doing a whole new bed its an old texture set from the start.

Hmm leaves haven't been changed so the ones you see are the only ones i have at the moment till I do them. They are my least Favorite things to draw so i keep putting them off!

Also all versions need connected textures turned "OFF" for now or you will loose the windows

No problem! I love the tools, especially the diamond ones. They fit right in with the style and look really nice.

I'm pretty sure that I had connected textures on, and my windows looked fine. I was just using glass blocks, though, not glass panes.

Random mobs switched ON will show creeper variations but will also mean more Sphax mobs will show unless you delete the other variations from the texture pack which i should of done *rolls eyes*
New bright and bouncy lighting for non shader version! Its really brought out the cartoony side of Chroma Hills. I will get this over to the testers asap as it's even lighter than the one you guys just got hold of.
Been waiting for this very eagerly... is there a download link yet, even for testing?
Hi, that's great to hear I haven't released a download yet as I want to get a bit more of the pack done first. I have given the pack to some of the guys in this thread to test as they have shown such enthusiasm for the pack and regularly post and leave feedback or help with ideas. It's not going to be that much longer for a work in progress public release though so keep checking back

Hey, again great to here now you have actually had some time with it Hmm if you are using shaders make sure you have Custom colours turned ON in the video settings under Quality, make sure lighting is set to MOODY also. If you still have a problem post a pic up so i can see, it maybe the shaders arn't installed properly. As you can see from Taco's screen grabs below and mine they should work fine

Obsidian is such an old texture that I will give it a revamp.
As for the text height/position on the HUD, its always like that on Minecraft. Its part of the basic game you can't change it. If i load up vanilla default texture pack its in the same spot and below it the green numbers for the XP points are displayed so it couldn't go any lower.
Glow with water i would have to see but it sounds like a shader issue which Is not something i can fix but haven't noticed on mine.....could be grahics card related as SEUS can be funny with some.
Apart for those things did you come away happy with how its coming together?

Hmm, yup theres something not right with your shaders install. PM over your computer Spec although i can only help with PC not Mac and i'll go through the install with you. Using magic Launcher and the Shader mod is the easiest way by far to run shaders.
Make sure in Magic launcher the list in the top window goes Shader mod at the bottom, then Optifine, and in the route of the Minecraft folder you have a Shaderspacks folder and that the Chroma Hills shader zip is in that folder.
@Sharky, have quite a few guys testing now. I let some of the guys who post frequently on Chroma hills and helped with ideas/feedback and have shown great support for the pack in general try it out so i can few more pairs of eyes on it. It's actually not going to be too long untill the wip pack is released
Been playing with an energy effect for the redstone let me know what you think guys.

Well, that's unfortunate because I'm on a mac. Yeah, I'm using the magic launcher and I'm pretty sure I installed it correctly. I have first optifine then the shader mod in magic launcher. In the shaderpacks folder I took the zip of the shaders you gave me and put it in there. Nothing really appears to be wrong, so I'm kinda confused.
