What if, for alt GUI's, and possibly for the items section of the HUD, you just laid the normal one over a piece of parchment, similar to the map background? Or the items section of the HUD could be laid over a rolled-out scroll? Those should be fairly quick solutions
By the way, how long have you been using Photoshop? I've been consistently in classes for it and Illustrator for about four years, but your videos and the quality of your work both give me the idea that you've been at it far longer than me. (Hope you don't mind me asking!)

Most of my friends wanted into the gaming industry, and I did too until I decided that graphic advertising jobs would probably be easier to get. I also wanted to be a painter, but nobody can afford to buy art anymore...
Your background not only explains the technical expertise you show but the stylistic consistency as well. I can now better understand how you made a super-HD pack fit so perfectly into the game

Wow, that lake shot. Great looking, really. Loving the UI too. I can't tell you enough that everything is amazing! I don't really like having the GUI transparent either, especially on the armor area. Fantastic looking though.
Can I suggest animating the mycelium to subtly change colors, similar to Misa's? I don't want to suggest copying, but the mycelium is one of my favorite parts of her pack.

I think you will be surprised when using the GUI in game that seeing through it doesn't pose any major problem, the screen darkens a fair bit behind. It feels more fluid to me and doesn't feel like you have left the game for another screen keeps the immersion levels up.

Working on getting more items done so here's a video of creating the fish item, i lost 2 hrs of footage from a corrupt file!! I've patched together what i had left to work with. Its my first digital fish, never had a reason to make one before lol

Hi, glad you like it I'm working really hard to get a work in progress release out hopefully around the end of the month. Its coming together now but still quite a bit to do.

Ah thats great thanks. Do you know what i totally forgot about getting the big mushrooms done and got side tracked with a little wake up call to how many items still need doing! I'll get back on the shrooms shortly
So guys last update for the weekends play time is the iron axe, have a video as well once i edit it. Just the diamond one to go for a full set which i've got a feeling is going to be a long one and bit of a challenge as the diamond parts are time consuming and make my head hurt working out the shading lol

It looks like this is coming together into a really complete texture pack. I can't see everything of course, but you're doing a great job of keeping us updated! I love seeing all the development videos and cool stuff like that.
Thanks Yes my redstone is bit more on the literal side the ores are very much a stone than a dust so a gem stone theme worked better with the pack style. The redstone circuits look more Gem'y also. I take no credit for the stone idea though Sphax uses it as do others and i much prefer the more solid appearance than dust It looks far cooler showering your friend with red gems from your inventory than a dust item! It fits the cartoony side of the pack IMO
Haven't been this excited about a texture pack in a long time, this looks amazing. Cannot wait for its release.

RIGHT FOLKS I HAVE QUITE A BIG UPDATE and have been on this for a few days behind the scenes<---- it needed capitals it's that big
Firstly, Mycelium has had some colour added and the large mushrooms are textured.
Non shader
Now for the BIG one. CHROMA HILLS is really designed to be played at 128x but i've been listening to you guys We now have 6 versions of CHROMA HILLS, yes 6 packs!
128x 64x 32x NO shaders with adjusted and brightened terrain files new non shader animated water.
128x 64x 32x SHADER ready with adjusted terrain colours, light maps etc.
64x looks really great, 32x is really pushing the detail but I've had many people asking for it. It's surprisingly pretty good in game but will still need work to tidy and sort some areas and i have worked into some of it already.
Mobs, items, tools for 32x and 64x pack will be a higher detail. 32x pack will have 64x and the 64x will have 128x
I'm still playing with biomes colours so grass colours etc are not finalized.

I hope the latest update has sweetened the honey pot a little for those who weren't able to play the 128x pack.

Yeah, it's redstone. The red stuff in a sack is Rose Red dye.

Great stuff, 64 really does retain a large amount of detail, and will really help having the high detail tools
Thanks, was very happy with how 64x turned out 32x does lose quite a bit but i also was surprised though that it was not too shabby at all
The pack still looks fabulous without shaders, but it looks super awesome with them. I really need to figure out how to get them working on my Mac...
