How did you get the idea to use a screenshot on the title? That looks damn impressive.
The buttons look nice, the design is great, but I think they could use some texture, some wood grain texture over top. And that font looks good as well. One thing I notice though is that the lowercase "t" is upwards a bit from where it should be. The other letters have an imaginary line, where the bottom of letters would be, but the t is a bit above it. I find it looks good though, fonts are difficult things for me.
Hey Logo just came about by playing in photoshop with soem effects and screen grabs. Had a idea of having something colourful and bright, rather than grey.
I was thinking of having the letters not in line so they have a little playful up and down pattern, so some are high some low, its looks rubbish i'll line them up.
I've been playing with some grain on the buttons, problem is it has to tile as the game code scales the buttons depending on where they are, will see if i can get a grain texture working.
Just been trying out the window Lattice, it brings a more rustic look to the style which fits quite nicely i thought?
Great windows, though I would make the lattice dark brown instead of grey. Besides that I don´t see any problem with them.
And the font looks good too, pretty solid, readable and it´s a good decision to scrap the the idea with the ups and downs. If you have struggle with the spacing (because I see some spacing issues in your screenshot), take a look at this page and download the font calibrator exel spreadsheet. It´s really helpful.
I was going for metal on the windows, reason being it brings another colour into play when building houses rather than just browns, shall i try going much darker like blackish iron, or do you think keep with wood?
Looks very nice! Can't wait till the Sphax Template is gone though.
Thanks, some very nice work in your soon to be released pack also! Sphax, is disappearing more and more, did you just look at the first page screen shots or have you looked at updates on all the pages as I've got rid of most of Sphax through the updates.
Ok much discussion over the weeks on the grass, so I've tried something else its a wip but i'm liking how it fits with the rest of the pack.
Comments/feedback do i switch guys??
New grass
Old grass ( I haven't got round to removing the too dark tops)

Thanks! The new grass is great! you could always ctm them and use both but if your gonna stick with one or the other I'd go with the New one, the edges aren't as sharp and it really fills in the landscape nicely. smoothlier.. if thats a word

That grass is perfect! It fits in nicely and isn't too contrasting on the edges so it gives the wild feel in the open terrain, and looks nice on its own as well. The lattice windows look great, but as Moo said, I think the bars inside should be more like wood, but the bolts should stay, they would look good on wooden lattice.

Just wended my way here, as you do following a trail, and I'm mighty impressed by this, to say the least.
Reading through the thread and hearing you mention starting on the Amiga and that brought back fond memories of my early days and even further back with the Spectrum. Those were exciting days and this is an exciting pack and I'm looking forward to seeing how it all goes. Excellent work indeed!
Wow, there's some nice wonderful projects with a lot of refreshing personal style happening all of a sudden around these parts and it's good to see, let me tell you.

I've given in and gone for dark brown on the windows Or do they need to be darker!?

Thank you very much, great to hear such positive comments from someone who comes with such Kudos in the world of texture packs. Steam punk is a fantastic creation and rightly so become a very popular alternative theme to the world of MC Ah going by you comments of days gone by, you are one of the "OLD" boys... few i'm not alone I still have my ZX speccy and C64, among a ton of other consoles/computers! The Amiga was incredible back then it opened a lot of doors for many people on a creative level.
Thanks again.
Been doing a few more textures tonight guys got the trap doors done, and added some flowers. Also have done the other wooden planks. Will be looking at Glow stone tonight as well.
If if anyone hasn't done it yet down load KAB's test map its wonderful and a must to test with.
I captured a rather tranquil/sunny day with the new textures. what do we think?
From what I can see in that screenshot, the lattice looks perfect now. Your pack has a nice warm feel, which I really like, but steel isn't a very fitting texture for that. Steel is a material that isn't exactly "warm" in feel, so wood is a more... Cozy looking material, really nice looking in builds, like that house. That looks great with lattice windows and the new cobblestone.

Thanks Corner, the pack IS really feeling more like a world now and "warm" is certainly part of the theme. I love some of the c reativity of the darker parcks but for me this the kind of place i want to unwind in and explore
Right, glow stone has been bit of a headache tonight i've played with something but want to hear what people think, its wip so do i continue or try something totally different guys??.......if its a no give me an idea to try
Also i have updated the first post to make it easier to find images and progress.

Well, it looks a LOT like the glowstone texture from Sphax...
I would say change it to look more rock-like. Now that they added redstone lanterns we don't have to make glowstone look like lanterns anymore, so I don't see why you should. I can see it even as just a recolor of the shiny stone.
I would also like to say that this pack is looking really great, and I'm not usually into really high rez packs. For me it is the perfect combination of realisticness and cartoonyness. The art is really superb.

Thanks! I know many people dont like to change the low res look and feel of minecraft so if this is making you look at using something you wouldnt normally use then great
Mmm yes i know it is too Sphax looking i'm working on it.
I'd still have it as a lentern-like thing as otherwise i'd have to try and work redstone into my light designs, and thats just annoying
Ah yes this is just how i feel about glow stone i want it to work for buildings and without having to put levers or red stone all over the place.
Right, glow stone is from the nether so its not of the normal MC world, I've tried an idea of making it a "little" creepy but still something that the folks of of minecraftia would use for lanterns etc. These are kinda working for me in game the more i play it.
Feedback guys? (the enlarged pics will show much more detail than below)
I agree with moo on that, they are really nice looking, and the detailing in some of the stones is nice, but I think it would be better looking more like a naturally occuring material. I think it would be more fitting and look better overall if it was more like the stone texture with no frame, and tiling like stone.

The new glowstone looks very good - much better than the first one, that was really just too much like Sphax´ in HD. The tiny swirls are a nice detail. Though I would rather use it without the frame.

Sent you two the latest terrain file
Not feeling the frame huh, i'll take a look at the the stone at the moment it is not designed to tile at all so will take some work to make it tile....... will see what i can do
Right something totally different guys, i been playing with a MOB. I have an idea about the style of the mobs and the sort of clothes they wear and how it will look like they belong to the same creepy race........kind of like when you see the Orcs in Lord of the rings, they all look different but you know they all came from the same place.
Anyways, here's a VERY early WIP of the Hooded Skeletons, i kinda thought of them as the hooded black riders in LOTR. Not worth showing in game just yet i'll get more done first. Creatures of the night will be quite scary (we all know you shouldn't venture out after dark) but the wild life in the day will be be suitably warm and fluffy.
That is the best mob I've seen since VonDoomCraft! I personally like yours better because that skeleton is nice and smooth, while still being realistic. I can't wait to see it finished and in-game, it looks amazing, and the idea with the hood is great! I have a feeling this is going to grow into one of these forum's biggest hits! The DokuCraft of the super HD world!
So I take it the right side is the wither skeleton?
Edit: Oh, I just downloaded the latest version you sent and I see you got the different wood types done. I'm glad, some of my builds use the different types, so it will look right now. The colours are nice, by the way.
Hey, I'd just like to say that this is my new favourite pack!
Btw, can I be a beta tester?
Second Btw, I like the skeletons!
Hi, thats great to here, glad you like it so far
I "may" start opening this up to a few more people before i do a full WIP release. I really want to have more of it finished before too many people have it. Keep checking back to see how it's progressing.

Woah, up the pressure why don't you G! eek That's another pretty serious statement right there and again thank you so much for the confidence and positivity on what i'm doing. I haven't done game art for so many years it was also a personal challenge for me to see what I could still produce when i went for creating a pack. My next pack is going to be all Vector based.....but thats another story.
I am enjoying my time with this immensely and there is no doubt in my mind that having people in the MC community getting involved/behind me gives a great feeling of team spirit and a real reason to keep going.
I guess it could be the Wither......was just playing with an alternative mob outfit.

I don't think you have much to worry about, if you somehow mess up on it now, what you have done now is already up to those expectations for me, and I personally don't have the same interest in Doku that other people have, so it's not like I'd leave this and take up Dokucraft if one block or mob wasn't great. It'd need to be a lot of pretty terrible textures to turn me away from using this pack at this point.
That's always good motive, enjoying it, and enjoying recieving the feedback from people in return. I can't wait to see the finished skeleton, if that unfinished idea on the body texture is what you are going to continue to work on and finish with, then it should be great. That belt really fits an archer skeleton, so if the right side is the wither, then you could make them differ a bit more by removing the over-shoulder part of the belt, or all of the belt, so it fits with a sword wielding skeleton.
Like I said though, it looks great!

Okay i'm not gong get the Skeleton finished today its 3am and time to bug out till tomorrow, its coming along and its looking not too bad in game with the bits i've done, lots of fabric shading to go still, and the arms are just temp for now.
Anyways heres another wip of the Skin so far, let me know what you think guys.....
That looks great! If that arm is a temporary arm, then... That'd be better than mine finished. I'm bad at mobs.
That creeper on the belt is a really nice touch!
