The first cobblestone was more realistic, but the new one is warmer and has a more unique feel. As numberfour said, it seems less like a filtered/generated image and is better overall. Also, that stonebrick is looking nice!

Thanks guys, i'm still tweaking it a bit but when i looked at the old Cobble it looked good in some places but very cold and didn't work to well for nice pretty houses A warmer feel, that sums it up nicely.
How about the moss stone, any comments on the that? Heres a little build to show it in its place, again i wanted a ummm a more friendly moss lol
I think, on the third row, one of the two patches of moss on the middle brick should be on one of the side bricks, but the moss itself looks really good, everyone's idea of moss is different, but I find that looks really nice!

Ah yes, moss is all on layers so easy to shift around
Okay, i decided i really didn't like the old bark it looked rubbish when used for buildings and was one of the first textures i did. So new Oak, and also now have a Spruce bark, and removed lots of black bits from the Birch as suggested earlier.
Awesome test map by KAB!!
Not sure what to do for Jungle trees yet, vines wrapped around them maybe?
I love those logs! They may have more contrast, but wood like that generally has deep slits, so more contrast is realistic, in my opinion. Perhaps for jungle wood, you could make a similar style of wood to the right-side wood in the screenshot, but have the pattern horizontal, then add moss growing from the slits in the wood?

I love the clover-like moss on the stone bricks, though the bricks look a bit too clean to have moss on them.
The birch bark now looks perfect and I also like the one in the middle back, but the right bark is pretty strange. I hope it is not the new oak texture, because then I like the old one much more. A mix of both could look nice though, but as of now the contrast is way too high in comparison to the other textures.
Really nice logs you have there; although, if I'm to be picky, I feel the spruce[?] (far right) texture's shading is a little too dark, making it look striped as opposed to ridged. Also, even though I know what you were going for, that cobble springs up a tiling issue w/the largest dark/recessed brick - I think it's mainly due to the size of that particular brick, but it seems to really stand out to me...
(and I see your seem to be using Kab's texture pack test-map )
EDIT: now that i think of it, if you added that little-brick to said large one, it might help with the tiling - as said tiling issue seems to be caused by the large brick almost lining-up with the bricks' vertical spacing (to its left)
I think this particular tiling issue could even be a positive one, because I actually like how it comes out. It gives the wall a nice pattern instead of a distracting grid. (At least for me.)
But if you want to get rid of it, you could also keep the contrast really low on this texture and add random textures with dark, or bright or even pink-dotted zebra-striped bricks via CTM later.
Moo, your are awesome! The contrast was bothering me on the log so i put it out there for people to comment. Did what you said used my old texture over the top on another layer dropped the opacity to 30% with linear burn and 'voila'
All feedback/critique for any artist is essential, you can become very blinkered when so focused on something on your own.
I am pleased with the spruce (that's the peeling looking bark) according to reference on trees I looked at. Spruce has taken a good couple of hours.
Cobble stone i also kind of like how it creates a pattern, but can also look at it as Mini said with curing or keeping the tiling issue.
KAB's test map is great i will thank him for his hard work.
Corner, sorry didn't see you had posted, I'm liking the jungle idea will see what i can come up with
Are we happier with this? (small tiling lines need tweaking where the Oak texture joins will sort that.
Your logs are so realistic, it's insane! I would never think to add fungi growing on it, but seeing it now, it looks so much like jungle bark! Nothing I can critique on there, it is amazing now!

Ahh thanks! I'm not sure which to pick or just offer some alternatives with the pack as i have a few variations and can't decide.
How about these?
I'll email the terrain file.
Few more variations, some people may like it more simple, and in the jungle Bio the trees are covered in vines a lot of the time......i'm onto the vines next.
Of those variations, I think that it looks quite empty without the fungi, but I can see where people would like the clean style. I wonder what it would look like if you put on the fungi without the vines? Just a thought.
I'll check out the terrain file as soon as I get it. Got it, trying it out now.
This pack is looking interesting, but would you mind posting some pictures without the shader mods on?
Hi DM, I ask Corner G and Moozipan to test the terrain file out everyone now and then while I develop it. They both run the pack without any shaders and have posted some screens in the thread. I'll make up a clean Minecraft.jar with no shader mods so i can post some pictures.
Corner if you're testing out the map, maybe you could take a few more screen shots please?
From what they have said i will need to tweak some parts of the pack to work without shaders but nothing too drastic, mainly some brightness issues.
I've sorted a load of Non shader pics also. I will work on the non shader tweaks once i have a full terrain file done to brighten it up and bring some more colour into it etc.
The tiling error on the sand was fixed but looks like i've saved the old one over it again oops. Grass colour is very dull at the moment without shaders.
Is that a test map? Perchance one that is released on the forums? I have a texture pack test world, but it is full of random experiments I've tried, and I downloaded it around a year and a half ago, so it's old, so I could really use a new one.
Oh, do you want my fixed chest?
I didn't do much, just fixed the creeper face bridging the gap. Sometimes the strangest things bug me.
Hmm, those planks look a bit rough with those nails. They're pretty small and look really displeasing when tiled next to each other. Maybe if they're more "rusted" and a bit bigger it'd look smoother. Either way, still loving the pack

Yep its KAB's very nice test map its on the forum a page or so back He's done a great job, i mainly used it to show some complete buildings as my test map is more like small little film set areas and bit of a mess!
Sure thing fire the chest back over, i've got some more detail ideas for the chests actually
This pack's still progressing nicely; although, something about that sand doesn't look quite right to me; as in, it doesn't seem to blen well against the other textures (or, at least, the ones you've placed aside it). That could just be me, though... @corner_g looks like he's using Kab's texture pack test-map to me, easily found in this section (probably only a couple pages back; was recently updated)
The sand does have quite a different look but i do like it, its lost a lot of its yellow in the non shader pics, i'll put some desert screens up, and fix the dotted white tiling issue thats back!

Hi, great you like it I haven't seen any real issues with the nails when playing at full screen on my PC i always take the screen grabs in a slightly smaller window mode, so maybe the scaling of the window make them look a little bitty? can look at it.
I was working on the GUI/menu buttons last night guys so will have something to show soon.
Is there a FAQ on how to put your own font in, i'll will SEARCH just wondered?
How did you get the idea to use a screenshot on the title? That looks damn impressive.
The buttons look nice, the design is great, but I think they could use some texture, some wood grain texture over top. And that font looks good as well. One thing I notice though is that the lowercase "t" is upwards a bit from where it should be. The other letters have an imaginary line, where the bottom of letters would be, but the t is a bit above it. I find it looks good though, fonts are difficult things for me.

Not too much texturing this weekend but I've been playing with the title screen logo and the GUI menu buttons to have a break.
Also started on the new font not all characters are in yet though.
