I didn't originally have forge turned on tbh. But I do find forge works fine for me, although it took a bit of fiddling on the first try.
I did try turning on forge having read your post before it was edited, but nothing was any different.
I have so far managed to get some silhouettes, but nothing more, and still nothing above 5-7 FPS.
I have now written down the errors I get, so here they are, in order:
"[Shaders] Error: Invalid program gbuffers_basic
[Shaders] Error: Invalid program gbuffers_textured
[Shaders] Error: Invalid program gbuffers_textured_lit
[Shaders] Error: Invalid program gbuffers_skybasic
[Shaders] Error: Invalid program gbuffers_skytextured
[Shaders] Error: Invalid program gbuffers_terrain
[Shaders] Error: Invalid program gbuffers_entities
[Shaders] Error: Invalid program gbuffers_hand
[Shaders] Error: Invalid program gbuffers_water
[Shaders] Error: Invalid program gbuffers_weather
[Shaders] Error: Invalid program composite
Failed using multiple internal formats in frame buffer
Using low quality workaround!"
"low quality"? what quality? >_> *sighs*
And it's not just dark/purpleish... I can see nothing except GUI unless I flick off SEUS then back onto SEUS, at which point I get black sky with tan silhouettes and it fades to black as I look downwards or in certain directions. I always get the exact same errors though.
Sorry guys not looked at the thread tonight. Noax thanks for trying to help Uni get sorted. It does sound like the PC just doesn't have the ooomphh to run the shaders. Internal Intel graphics GPU's have lots of problems with SEUS and just aren't powerful enough.
naww, my PC is only a few years old. And everything was new then. (one of my parents makes our PCs
from the components rather than just buying prebuilt ones.)
I'll find out my specs and post them later. but I think I use a nividia graphics card not intel.
Hey syc, do you think you're gonna get around to redoing the skelly anytime soon?
The texture is really nice but it looks pretty hilarious stretched out over a mincraft model...
Your sky colour is the greatest btw, really enjoying it!
Hey your Sheepness Aww well i won't change them that much as i kinda like 'em but they need finishing. Had lots people say they love 'em but i'll prop tweak them a bit and do some random mobs as well.
Just gathering some reference for the night sky, and i've just started on the moon phases today
Most parents dont take gaming into acount when they buy a pc . If your parents did that as well i wouldnt be surprised if they saved money on the graphics card (as you hardly need that for word / internet and what not...).
To quickly check your video card: start -> run -> dxdiag
In the window you get then go to the 'display' tab and post on the forums what you see, mainly interested in:
Device:
- name
- approx total memory
Drivers:
- version
Directx Features:
- DirectDraw acceleration
- Direct3D acceleration
- AGP Texture acceleration
You could also use the button "save all information" save the file, open it, copy all the data and paste it on the forums. If you do, dont forget to put that information between [ spoiler ] & [ /spoiler ] brackets
My parents are epic and did take gaming into account, building me a computer that was kiltered TOWARD gaming and art.
And while I do know how to get rough stats (epic geeky parents = geeky kid ) thanks anyway since I didn't know that dxdiag thingy, although the parent that built the PC did show me it just now xD.
as for info:
Name: NVIDA GeForce 7900 GS
Approx total mem: 1016 MB
Main Driver: nvd3dum.dll
All DirectX freatures: enabled
I would have copied over "version" but the numbers looked just like an IP address does and I don't know what my computer's IP is so was too scared. Sorry.
On the rest of my PC:
AMD Athlon 64x2 4200+ Dual Core, runs at 2.21 GHz
2.00 GB RAM
windows 7 32-bit
built in 2011
and some other stuff that I doubt makes any difference. xD
The problem is really your graphics card unfortunately. If you want to run this game with shaders you will have to upgrade it
That graphics card is 7 years old (in pc terms nearly ancient ) with an actual memory (from the card itself) being 256 mb.
Tip: Go to google type in "whats my ip" and hit search, you dont even have to click on a website google will tell you what your ip is. That way you know / can check your version number against your ip. Even though version numbers indeed have 4 numbers seperated by dots (like ip addresses) they are not your ip address
If you plan to upgrade your graphics card do check if the size of the graphics card fits in your computer, as you might otherwise need a whole new computer case!
I shall do that what is my IP thing then! xD
Awww noooo! Graphics card too old. D: NUUUUUUUU! *is sure the the parent that built my PC said it was pretty new when they built my PC in 2011* *facedesk*
Not sure I'll get a replacement anyway. :/ My parents aren't awesome enough to buy me a new graphics card just because I can't run one mod for a game neither of them like... They accept I find it fun, and that I'm mostly being creative on it, but certainly one parent tried it at one point (when it was in alpha I think), and apparently thought it was boring and had terrible graphics and the blocks are too big to be a very good creative medium... *shrugs* the parent that tried it does think higher definition texturepacks and optifine make the graphics bearable at least...
EDIT: indeed, IP nothing like my version number xD. thanks.
EDIT2: oh okay, parent agrees that my card probably IS 7ish years old.
May I ask WHY I need to upgrade though? Why would a DirectX 9 card that the parent is convinced has quite enough power to run the shaders need to be upgraded? Both me and the parent are curious.
Ah I'm afraid the power on that card is nowhere near the requirement for very power hungry shaders like SEUS
What you have to remember is that unlike other PC games MC is run on Java and was never intended to have the effects that these shaders produce.
They are also work in progress programming from hobbiest coders that over time will improve and optimize the shaders/code as they learn and improve their creations. All these things add up to needing a lot of power to run them in their current state, much more so than other PC games. You will want a card with at least 1gb video ram something like a Nvidia 460gtx - 660gtx <--- much better. You will also need more ram in your PC and dedicate maybe 3 of that to Java. Rember that CH is 128x pack not a 16x pack so already its more resource hungry.
I get 200-300 FPS with no shaders, but with shaders i'm down to 40-50 ish.
Just stopping by to say that I love the new updates in 1.0.2! Keep it up man, great work. I'll be releasing a new cinematic soon, aimed towards promoting Chroma Hills!

Thats doubley awesome Jake new vid and to promote CH! Can't wait!
Syclone what graphics card are you using that you are on 200-300 fps? Mine hits 120-140ish (non-shader) but only 20-25 with shader
Your welcome Uni
I'm currently using 670gtx Noax i've got a few cards about the place and pc's. On a 460gtx I get 170 ish non shader and 20-30 with shaders with an I7 3.5 slight o/c 3gig to java 32 total.
Started on the night sky today guys been on it a good chunk of the day but its getting there
That night sky is great! I've been waiting for that for a while now! Also, I totally meant for my 1000th post to go here but I wasn't paying attention :/

Also, when do you think you'll be releasing your next 'big' update? I don't want to put together a cinematic and have an update the next day like last time
I'll at least wait until that night sky gets finished though, that looks really neat!

Cheers Jake well i'm not totally sure it will be little while but not as long as last time. I would like a few nice things to have ready for you all
Wow Sy, that night sky really gives quite a satisfying sense of fantasy.
The purple and blue hue's are stunning!
For an idea or two, maybe add in a nebula or distant galaxy, or as previously stated a passing asteroid cluster, I have no doubt whatever you choose to do will be good, keep up the great work!
Thanks Ditch Been looking back at the Disney films trying to get something that's not too real and also has colour to go with the pack style.
I'm not a big fan of having lots of outer space elements showing i may add something subtle but many skies i see just look like a space scene and i'm steering clear of that so it looks not too fantasy but just the light of the moon breaking through the atmosphere on a cloudy night

@Syclone:
I get little to no FPS drop between default and this texturepack xD. Just thought I'd say.
