So, two reasons for me LOVING this and insane amount:
1. I use trapdoors around glowstone on fences a LOT.
2. I like to be able to see though things like doors and trapdoors, if I've got an underground base (common for a starting base for me) without any hut above it, until I have a clock I have no way of telling if it's day out night without opening the trapdoor if it's got a texture I can't see through in some part. And since I spend the nights mining, just coming up every now and then, and never use my bed except to set my spawnpoint... yeah. Being able to tell when it's day is important.
I really like this texture pack, the feel of it is very good, and the overall consistancy is excellent.
If I may, a couple thoughts / suggestions.
(As a graphic artist, I love constructive criticism, hope you don't mind!)
First off, the wood textured.
While they are well drawn, they are...well... boring. I don't mind a wood texture that is flat, but they are all flat, there is no variation in the wood, just a solid color. The wood will have parts that are lighter, and parts that are darker, right now it's all the same shade, and it really detracts from the visual interest of the wood. To a degree, that works for Spruce and Pine, but Oak and Acadia have more variation, and it makes them look beautiful. Google an image of Acadia flooring, it's super beautiful, almost like Maple wood. Light boards butted against dark boards, wood grain that really stands out. Consider adding that variation into the wood types, and see what you think. (As another reference, the spruce wood in John Smith's texture pack is like this, and it really adds interest to the texture!).
Second: The Icons.
Maybe it's just me, but there is something missing. Hard to put my finger on it, but I find that I can't readily identify things in my inventory. They recede into the background, and I find myself hunting for things that on other texture packs I don't. Not certain what exactly it is about them, but there is something that makes them hard to readily identify.
Again, it's a beautiful pack, and it's become my default now. Thanks for all the work you've put into it!

I am rarely satisfied with my work and redrawn and changed many textures numerous times. So I take on board your crits on the wood and as with other textures they will probably get a revisit and go over at some point. I was also wanting to make sure people had them for the update so not as much time to work variation into them.
Hmm items, they are detailed and you should always have your GUI set to AUTO (large as poss) if you put your finger on it do let me know and we can discuss, I still have many to do. I do attempt to keep most items mainly familiar but get a bit creative on others i guess

Syclone, I think you should update the screenshots at the start of the thread - there are loads of amazing builds out there that look fantastic with this and I don't think the existing pictures do it justice - especially when they do not cover a lot of some of your best work.
For example, wood, glass, hardened clay, chests, utility blocks etc.
Yep, you are right Sharky I will need to get that sorted once the update is out the way they could be much better and show more!
So, I just made the clay bricks 4 high so they are bigger which works really well now the stone bricks are scaled to 2 high.
While i did that Sonic Ether made some normal and spec maps for them
This is a very beautiful texture pack, an amazing work in progress and now the only one I use. It's making my castle look superb! Thank you for your work on this. It's definitely worthwhile.

Did you run the shaders for 1.7 or 1.6?
Isn't it just yummy I'm running 1.6 as is Cody as 1.7 has issues (with shader mod). The test shaders i'm using currently only work with Chroma Hills and coded for a 128x texture res, he is getting closer to a release that will put normals/spec and POM working in 1.6/1.7.
So now I'm oficially using Chroma Hills for my playing (had a break from the game and from my own texture pack for like 3 months or so... tough times, but it's getting better now) and I must say... it's getting more and more awesome.
The only thing I dislike is the lightness of the grass.
Syclone... Do you think it's possible to have an alt version of the grass a bit darker? *stares at Syclone with the 'admiring dog look'*

Hmm, if anyone has noticed this, I heard that clay was colored in a weird way. For example, cyan clay is supposed to give a grey look.
This has been an on and off topic about clay colours. Many love my brighter more variation theme, lots of builders love the colours. Then there are the single player purists that say they dont mix like the default ones. I could do a add-on clay pack maybe with default colours.

Heya, ah i will make it clearer on the terms but yes of course you can make monetised videos. If you can add a link at least to the pack that would great. The main thing i don't want happening is the pack being mixed with others then used in videos/images for public viewing. So video away and of course youre most welcome to post it up here so we can all see
I see, 1.7 does have issues with normal map and specular mapping.
Yeah, also cody had disable POM and some other things from working not just with the usual \\ lines and also temporarily has hard coded the shaders to work with Chroma hills while things are being tested. I think we are going to try and release both our updates around the same time!
In other news folks I've just checked twice CH has hit over 700k official downloads!!! BONKERS, just incredible!
