Hey Sy, first off voting works on my end, maybe you fixed it who knows Secondly with the dirt I like the chunkiness of the redo, but also love the more realistic look to the previous one. Hard times, so chose like both! That enderman... next time one pops up behind me think I'll scream with it looking like that, sheesh. By the way cant recall if you got horses done or not (If not hint hint, You know you will have insane amounts of fun with it) Err good-luck!
Hey Ditch, I do like both but for me the new one gives the pack a push back in the direction i wanted which was not to realistic. Aww Ernie won't bite you! *as long as you dont look him in the eye* he HATES being looked at !
Ummm errr yeah, HORSES.......... umm yep Minecraft has horses, yep horses umm errrr next question please?
I prefer the old dirt, as well as the original cactus. Things seem to be getting a little too cartoony looking for me. "RPG with a cartoon twist" is the slogan so I guess this should have been expected eventually. The main reason I fell in love with this pack was the realism aspect. I didn't feel there was much of a cartoon feel. Seems times are a changing. Either way, the work you do is quite impressive and I know everyone appreciates all the time and effort you put into this resource pack!
I knew this would cause a divide it's quite a visual change, see how you get on with it but its all changeable of course.
I'm not going to go full cartoon but I needed some balance back towards cartoony and my vision that i wanted to achieve with this. A detailed, bright, cartoony world that had charm and colour but with materials that would also make great builds as well as hours of fun adventuring and meeting my take on the inhabitants of Chroma Hills
I do realize i just won't be able to please all, but I will do what i can to cater for most, so for such a change like this I will make sure a addon dirt pack is also available.
Appreciated the comments of the effort that goes in also so thanks
I'm really unsure about that chunky dirt. On the one side, its does have a more refined texture to it...but I have to agree that it just reminds me of cobblestone rather then what its supposed to be...dirt.
I think I'm putting my vote in with the actual looking dirt of the old-style...even though it could use a touch-up itself.
(though sadly it looks like those of us that appreciate dirt looking like dirt are losing. xD)
On a side note...that brick. <3333
I love aged, weathered brick with variations in color among its individual stone. That's the one thing I HATED in sphax...was that deep red, perfectly flat brick. bleh. old brick instead of new looking brick FTW. (i'm glad it seems I won't have to alter that texture to. xD)
I have to say the reason I don't like the new dirt is that it looks like cobblestone. It might be a good one for paths? But as dirt it doesn't really work very well to my taste. Definitely glad you're leaving both textures in the pack!
What I wish, is that the dirt that doesn't grow over with grass could have a different texture. Now I think about it, the new dirt would make awesome paths. The realistic dirt just looks better the rest of the time.
what would you say syclone what percentage will be realistic and what percentage would be cartoonic

The new dirt is growing on me... I do think it will make better paths. I know from experience that dried-out soil does kinda go like that, so it being a path would really work, especially in a desert. However, the rest of the time I still hold that the old dirt is better... And it sounds like Blue_Shayde agrees with me that normal and special dirt should have different textures.

Hmmm I don't really have a percentage that I will stick to but the balance of detail ( i wouldn't call it realistic)and cartoony style needs to flow and mesh well which is actually quite hard to do.

Not sure how i can combine the two really but i see what you are saying about how you like it for a top dirt texture, you can see that from my second screen shot I think a dirt add on pack will be the best idea.
NOTICE, as many of you know 1.7.2 has broken textures where some sides of blocks have flipped textures. This also mucks up ALL CTM textures. It will probably be sensible for me to not release 1.7 until Mojang fixes the problem.
So I've made the dirt go with the podzol and I like it.
@Sharky
Optifine has not been updated yet, and I doubt that MCpatcher has either. (Which means I have no idea how in the world syc is testing the CTM in 1.7 but yeah) Optifine's update to 1.7.2 is waiting for MCP to be updated.
@Syc
Could you use CTM to make the special dirt have a different texture? Maybe? It uses a different data value so it might be possible with CTM?
Unfortunately according to a post I found about the lack of an MCP update yet, there will not be very many, if any, mod updates until December.
There's a LOT of code that needs changing, 1.7.2 is a big update, meaning it's going to take a lot of time for a crew of six people, one of which works in mojang now, to update MCP.
MCPatcher has updated, or at least there is a beta build out, and I am sure optifine will fix the problem when it is out.
I've been using the BETA for a while but it doesnt fix the flipped textures. Karr has said its up to Mojang to fix the bugs not him make MCpatch work with the bugs.
shh...this is just reminding me that even when this texture pack is finally up to download for 1.7, I won't be able to use it without optifine. T_T
sorry blue i dont think that exactly true. what i mean by that is your not putting this here to remind yourself. your putting this here to confirm that other people do the same as you. like this wise guy once said. when people tell each other stuff, they dont do it because they want to tell them. they do it because they want people to agree with them. example:
"hey did you know that the blue men group aren't really blue." i tell you that not so you could know but so you would agree.
its hard to explain but if you watched this guys videos it would all make sense.

What ever I do there will be a add on dirt pack just drop it on top of the main pack in the resource pack selector and back to the old

Poor Syc, actually caring about our opinions. But...its very appreciated I feel. ^^
*pokes optifine*
The lack of mod updates for 1.7.2 over such a long time since the release has been really...saddening.
