Hey guys, just wanted to remind you (yet again! ) that we're still looking for coders for the Chroma Hills server. For more information, feel free to PM me, SycloneSJS, or InfinityNetwork.
I do have them and they are cool, but it seems that a certain mod is making them revert to the regular vanilla dog texture I'm just now realizing this). That would be Doggy Talents. Once I feed a training treat to a tamed wolf, they revert to the vanilla texture. I can't seem to change the texture so that they look like Chroma Hills wolves all the time.
Any ideas, other than un-installing the mod?
Update: So I went into Doggy Talent's and Chroma Hills' folder. I replaced one it's "doggytex" png texture file with the Chroma Hills tame wolf png. It worked but only for the file that had a cream colored collar.
See, Doggy Talents lets you choose your dog's texture instead of just dying the collar. It's nice, but I honestly am totally fine with just dying the collar (why they took that option away I'll never know). It has 16 texture files of tame wolves with the different colored collars. But Chroma Hills doesn't have 16 texture files of that kind I can replace Doggy Talents' textures with.
Another Update: After reading the thread, once you use the training treat, they turn into a different mob, a DTDoggy. And that explains why texture packs don't work on them.... awww....

Have you given any thought to offering an alternative look to the jack o'lantern? I was thinking something along the lines of a decorative block? It would offer another lighting option. I personally never use jack o'lanterns for anything and having another block for lighting would be spectacular.
Ah not used that mod but if it overrides the default textures then not a lot i can do unless i fully support the mod later on
Oh well, I'll just keep the Chroma Hills texture file in the DT folder for now. I like my wolves to look good, heh. DT dogs are awesome so I really wanna keep them around (and the fact that I like smart tamed wolves lol). Moving on... the records, they are awesome. And big YES to the Wait CD. So happy it's "Chroma-tized" now.
So I have been testing out an idea for Smooth stone CTM. I've created a 100 texture stone set that almost gets rid of all the tiling. Don't get to excited just yet as i'm not sure if i can use it in the pack! The issue is i need to find a trick to blend the ore blocks to the stone CTM....... it would be great if i can.

I don't particulary like that smooth stone, though I don't ever really like smooth stone thats truly smooth. Packs like Misa and LP Photo Realism have really smooth stone and I dislike it.
You can't make everyone happy though

I love the new stone idea. I don't use the stone currently in the resource pack for building because of the lack of smoothness. This has a more natural stone look to it. As mentioned, everyone will have a different opinion.

I definitely prefer the look of the new smooth stone! Take a look at Monsterfisher's Conquest pack. He does something similar and his stone blends well with the ores.
Thanks for the feed back guys, i've decided for now to leave this idea as there is no way to blend the ores with all the textures. I also feel its just too realistic for a cartoony pack.
What I have done for now is smooth the standard stone texture a little more and fix the vertical dark tiling lines that were annoying me. As you said Xandon it will be impossible to please all but many players already use the pack with this style of stone in place. I'm pretty happy with the use of the stone in builds but this doesn't really suit modern builds........added a pic to show you

Yeah looked at Conquest a lot but he doesn't have the resolution i have. With 32x as long as the colours are close on the stone because its quite pixely it hides it, with 128x if the tiles aren't a pefect match on 4 sides you get a very obvious line around the ore blocks due to the resolution.
I really like it but that problem is a deal breaker but also it feels more like a photoreal pack when playing and it started feeling very Un CH the more i used it.
I "COULD" release an Enhanced stone ADD ON pack with this, it will be something you can add to the main pack CTM folder. Reason being there is a way to make the ores blend it will mean they can't be animated but each ore block will have a 100 textures CTM file as well as the 100 textures for the main stone, that is a lot of textures but as an add on people can choose *i need to test this theory first*
Well I've been having some fun with the team on the CH server and for the first time in my minecraft history I actually built something other than just test blocks for textures
This was dam hard but I challenged my self to build a ship/boat
Quite enjoying this building shizz............i'll have new textures to show soon!
Can't wait till SEUS supports CTM again
Oh and a tunnel through a mountain that i was kinda happy with.
