Yes it is, there were no texture changes in 1.9.0-1.9.1 so the version on my site may say 1.9.1 but it works with 1.9.2 fine.
does this pack have custom sounds or plans to also i was debating making a "John Smith Patrimony" it would be a 128 and 256 upscaling and maybe 512 aswell.
also why is there TWO John smith legacy packs? 32 and 64 bit?
with two different websites or im assuming 2 separate fan community's?

Only one custom sound in the pack (levelup from an earlier version of Minecraft), I also believe the vanilla sounds are just right for the game so have no plans for any other sound at the moment.
John Smith Legacy for Vanilla Minecraft is a 32px pack, a 64px version was started on the JSLegacy site but is a little out of date and is stuck in the 1.7.x version of the game.
My site only covers the Vanilla game when the JSLegacy site is more for the Modded game.
I think the game just looks right at 32px textures, it also makes the game run good on less powerful systems and I believe higher pixel depth doesn't add anything to the game, plus it's a lot harder and more time consuming to make higher pixel depth textures.
The pixelised look of Minecraft is a design choice and John Smith Legacy keeps to that tradition.
If you mean the two versions on my site, John Smith Legacy is the more traditional John Smith Style, JimStoneCraft Edition (JSC), uses the smooth cobblestone, ores and lots of other personal tweaks to virtually all the textures.
It's the pack I personally play with and some people asked if I would post it so I did.
I love this resource pack but there's just one thing I don't like. The black backgrounds on the GUI for the player inventory and chests. Makes it hard to see dark coloured items and glass.
Is there any way for me to substitute the lighter coloured vanilla Minecraft chest and inventory GUI?

There are only two official sites:-
http://js-legacy.net/ - 64px Vanilla and the Modded game JohnSmith Technician's Remix (JSTR)
My work and the work of the modded textures are posted all over the place on these resource pack type site, sometimes they edit the packs to add stuff but the only place to get the official JSL packs are the two sites listed above.

They are dark but they're not black, they have a chalkboard texture.
I'll see what I can do at the weekend to make you a custom GUI set..
Damn, that's much appreciated. I was just thinking of somehow copying the art for the vanilla Minecraft GUI and replacing the ones in the resource park. I've done that before (replaced the Beacon's beam of light with the original and changed the glowstone art as well) and was hoping it would be a similar process.

I've made some lighter GUI elements, I've included them in the Alternatives download on the main page.
Thanks for keeping this pack going, I've been playing with it since v0.86.
I just came back to the game after a break and found that the powered rails look wrong. Only the ones going at an angle. Sorry if someone has already pointed this out.

After some testing, I would guess you are running the wrong version of the JSL pack, the 1.9.2 and the 1.8.9 packs are not interchangeable and you will get issues when using the 1.9.2 pack on Minecraft versions older then 1.9.0.
I can see you have a mini map so you are playing modded which I would guess is 1.8 or maybe even 1.7, the way the packs changed so much over Minecraft versions you have to get the right pack for the Minecraft version.
Opps my mistake, while testing the new rails in the JSC pack I forgot to copy over the blockstate files for the three special rails to the JSL pack, I've updated the pack, this only effected the normal 1.9 JSL pack as rails are done differently in 1.8.9.
I've also upload the latest versions for all four packs (JSL 1.8.9, 1.9.3 and JSC 1.8.9 and 1.9.3).
Thanks for the bug report it helped more the second time (even though running the later 1.9.3 pack on 1.8.9 does the same thing due to the way blockstates worked in the older release).
Hi. First off, thanks so much to those who keep this texture pack going. Minecraft really is so much different without it for me, which is why I've gone to frustrating lengths (notably during the 1.6 to 1.7 change) at times to make changes on my end to keep things how I like and have been used to them. I updated to 1.9 not too long back, and there was again things to do to keep it how I wanted, but I figured it out, and for once, I'm current and up to date.
There's just one thing bothering me. The edge of the terrain is not well hidden by the fog anymore (when using OptiFine), which is basically the fog's purpose.
I tried without Optifine and get this...
I was therefore about to head to the OptiFine thread and ask about this, but it does NOT happen with the default texture pack using OptiFine, so I believe OptiFine is "enabling" something unique to this texture pack, but I've been unable to get the fog the other way regardless of the settings I change. If I am incorrect about this belonging here then point me in that direction and I will go o.o;
I was wondering if it DID have to do with something on the texture pack's end and it there was a way I could fix it. There's not much point in fog that doesn't well hide the terrain's edge, or may as well have it off. I even noticed in earlier versions (1.7.x and prior) that the fog seemed "lighter" or "thinner" than with the default texture pack, but it still didn't let you see the cutoff 99% of the time (here's an example) so I didn't mind it, but now it's actually unfavorable when it doesn't do it's purpose. Worse, when VBOS are enabled and the terrain generates not in a square around you but rather a circle, it's more unsightly.
If anyone could point me in the direction of the file or whatnot to make the fog as it is in the second screenshot (while continuing to use OptiFine to enjoy it's benefits as well as the extra features of the texture pack it brings out), I'd greatly appreciate it ^^ and if not, I'll live o.o;
Great work again to those who continue keeping the texture pack up to date, hosting it, and helping with support like in this thread. That's what's so great about the Minecraft community.

Awesome. Thank you sir.
Well thanks for the help but it's still too dark. Cheers.
Maybe trying one or all of these would help:-

Curse PremiumYou've done an amazingly good and faithful job of updating the original John Smith pack and it truly shows a lot of ingenuity.
Absolutely fantastic to use when I'm in a FTB survival mood.
So...just wanted to express my thanks for all the hard work you've put into this over the years.
What's the difference between the JSTR Legacy Overlay and the x64 Overlay? Is it just the quality? 32 vs 64?
