Do you have PSD's or similar of the textures in JSTR? I prefer using the default textures instead of the versions used in JSTR (such as the default stone texture instead of the smooth one in JSTR, which is why I need the PSD for the custom ores etc.)
Just open up the png and copy the textures you want over the current ones
I could do that, but that would most likely not end up with a good result, as I would have to cut out the smooth stone texture and then trying to clean the edges of what I cut out just to make it fit into the original JohnSmith stone texture.
In short, it makes much more sense to use the PSD's if they're available.
Trust me, it's really easy. If you use a program like "the gimp", which is free, you just select the area of what you want to change and you can't mess up with something else.
Being the texture kinda small you can't really select the wrong area, you can clearly see the selection tool taking the pixels.

Unfortunately we don't have any .PSD files for the ores (and the things that I have .PSD files for are in so much of a mess that they're not even of any use to me), however, you might be interested in this:
I didn't have a chance to wrap it up last night, but it's also added to the OP as well, and is basically the default John Smith texture pack with the mod support, with the ores modified to match .
***NOTICE*** Dropbox downloads are unavailable until further notice due to excess bandwidth usage, I have posted some Mediafire links for anyone who wishes to download.
Well done by the way guys, been looking forward to a John Smith Mod TP, might even try out FTB now (although i doubt it, im still trying to wrap my head around Etho's vids ).
EDITS: Dunno if its me but everytime i try using the first banner from the front page it gives me an error, saying i can only use one picture in my sig.. but it is though

It does that for some reason, you need to turn off the wysiwyg mode (click the little light switch button in the upper left corner) before pasting it in.
Currently we don't support those mods I'm afraid, and considering none of the FTB or Technic modpacks include them, there are no plans at the moment to texture them.
How did you get the sunlight shading in the first 2 tekkit pictures? The last time I used GLSL shaders (the one that was supposed to offer this), it didn't do the sunlight, only animated water, leaves and plants.
We didn't use Tekkit for the shaders, as we were getting errors. So instead, we just used an assortment of mods installed in a MultiMC instance.
Hmm, that's odd. Just downloaded the Technician Remix pack with mod support (or at least the link for it), but the textures I'm getting don't match the week or so old version I had before this thread came up. Got the grittier stone, dirt, and ore textures rather than the smooth ones I've grown more fond of with my time learning FTB. Did it get packaged wrong? Am I simply choosing the wrong link?
EDIT: Either I'm incompetent or it was fixed. Either way, yay! Back to preferred textures plus the updated stuff, woo! Looking forward to seeing more of the mods textured, thanks for all of your hard work everyone who contributes. <3

makes it pretty easy to transfer single textures from one png to another. It hasn't been updated in a while, and there are a few problems with it, but if you want to easily grab a single (or a couple) textures and transfer them to a new texture file, this is the easiest way to do it. What I do is use the customizer in the original JS thread to create files of all the textures I want to use, then mix and match them using this tool for the initial swapping textures then finish off in a graphics program.

Could we adopt a norm for posting textures here? I really like how, in the Dokucraft thread, people post either the terrain/etc.png file or the proper sized individual texture so that others can add them themselves if they wish. Just mentioning it because I'm seeing a lot of people posting entire packs and it's harder to compare each texture that way. Otherwise, great work guys! This is highly appreciated!

I wish we could, but as we are abiding by Johnsmith's original copyright, we aren't allowed to put any of his work into a customizer, so it would be very hard to work out a system where there are a lot of downloads all with minor tweaks.

You completely misunderstood me. If you look at the THREAD, not the Original Post, of Dokucraft: The Sage Continues, you'll see people posting the tweaks themselves, not the pack along with it. Say you make a new redstone block texture. You post just that texture on here and anyone who wants it can download it and add it to their copy of John Smith via GIMP editing. No breech of copyright because no actual John Smith files were distributed.

Nothing is stopping anybody from doing that, in fact, we encourage it.
Odd question. Did anything change with regards to the upper / lower faces of cobblestone and mossy cobblestone within the last few updates? The last two or three updates I've gone through (as going by the rolling changelog) the textures are much much more.....pronounced. Noisy is what I'd use to be nice. Prior to that the upper and lower faces had the same exact textures as the sides which (again, to me) flowed much better with the rest of the blocks in the pack.
EDIT: Just noticed also that the wood textures changed. Jungle wood is identical in every way to oak wood now. Coloration within the last two updates had a lighter but reddish hue to it. As well the plank style itself has changed.

We used http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1539123-glsl-shaders-of/ for the base files, and then we used the v8 shaders from http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/940974-125sonic-ethers-unbelievable-shaders-glsl-shaders-dynamic-shadows-more/.

The texture pack editor available here:
