I have been using John Smith Legacy ever since I first started playing Minecraft about 2.5 years ago. It is by far my favorite resourcepack and the best one I have ever used. What I really love about this pack is not just the design/look of the pack itself, which I think is absolutely amazing and beautiful and just perfect for building my favorite styles of medieval/rustic/fantasy etc.; but I also love how it is 100% compatible with vanilla Minecraft and has nice features to go along with it, and that is the main reason I use the pack.

I noticed a small texture bug on the cauldron in John Smith Legacy v1.3.12. The feet have a white space next to them where there would normally be transparency. I believe this is due to 1.8 changing MC's engine. It's a very small bug, but is a bit visually displeasing.

Noted, as it's a small bug I'll add it to the next release.
EDIT: It seams to be the way Minecraft draws the Cauldron and the anti X-Ray block transparency.
It used to just be the textures listed below display and the various sides:-
But now the Cauldron is a model (like the Anvil), which means the legs are now drawn inside, as the John Smith textures were smaller you get the white bits (from the anti X-Ray).
Two options are draw the legs bigger to suit and default model or make the model file suit the JSL textures.
On another note I also found a texture stretching bug with the cauldron_bottom.png, (Minecraft bug not JSL) but that's another story.
I've been using this texture pack for years and have noticed that bold signs never seem to work. Is anyone else experiencing this or is it done by design? If so does anyone know how i could fix &l bold signs. Thanks, Chris.
Do you mean bold text?, the font is a bitmap texture so there is only the single font.

That's very interesting. I'd say either option would be fine to fix it.
This is my absolute favorite resourcepack! I'm glad that it is so well supported/updated.

I have been playing Minecraft since September 2012. It's my favorite game of all time.
I've been using the pack for years, and echo the comments on the beauty and versatility. Great job.
One issue I am having since updating to the 1.7.x pack - vanilla trees have only the outside texture, and blocks are see-through through the leaves, all the way to bedrock. No other changes to my files but replacing the 1.6.x with the 1.7.x file. When going back to default correct textures are present.
Any fix for this? I have looked through the last few pages of the forum, but see no other mention.
I am not familiar enough with the structure to know what and where the CTM is. I would like to use Fast Graphics, and am willing to fool around with deleting and adjusting, but need a pointer to get me started. Thanks
Open the zip (John Smith Legacy 1.7.10 v1.2.21.zip) and remove the six directories listed below, each directory has four images (0.png - 3.png) and a properties file.
John Smith Legacy 1.7.10 v1.2.21\assets\minecraft\mcpatcher\ctm\leaves_acacia
John Smith Legacy 1.7.10 v1.2.21\assets\minecraft\mcpatcher\ctm\leaves_big_oak
John Smith Legacy 1.7.10 v1.2.21\assets\minecraft\mcpatcher\ctm\leaves_birch
John Smith Legacy 1.7.10 v1.2.21\assets\minecraft\mcpatcher\ctm\leaves_jungle
John Smith Legacy 1.7.10 v1.2.21\assets\minecraft\mcpatcher\ctm\leaves_oak
John Smith Legacy 1.7.10 v1.2.21\assets\minecraft\mcpatcher\ctm\leaves_spruce
If you are using an older version of the pack then there may not be all the leaves listed as older releases only had oak and birch.
Hey, I'm having weird issues using the latest download of JSTR with the latest 1.7.10 Optifine. There seems to be some kind of issue with the CTM system: When I turn connected textures on, stone and wooden vanilla buttons have no texture. When I turn it off, they have a texture again.
I have reproduced this bug below in a test world containing only Optifine and the 1.7.10 JSTR download from the website.
Does anyone know why this occurs or how I can fix this?
[EDIT] Alright, I've tried several versions of Optifine and whatever broke its handling of the button CTM appears to have happened in the transition from the A-versions to the B-versions. Since I haven't found any other errors so far, I'll just delete the CTM folder for the stone and wooden buttons.
That's very interesting. I'd say either option would be fine to fix it.
This is my absolute favorite resourcepack! I'm glad that it is so well supported/updated.
New update to the Resource Pack (John Smith Legacy 1.8.4 v1.3.13), only a bug fix update for the Cauldron, also it now has some custom inside textures!!

Thanks again for the bug report.
New cauldron looks great!
When I loaded up MC this morning I took the time to appreciate the finer details of JS Legacy. I stood in a mega taiga biome and just smiled because of how epic this pack makes MC look!
You're welcome for the bug report, you're work is amazing JimStone!

I have been playing Minecraft since September 2012. It's my favorite game of all time.
You have to love the inconsistencies in the game that is Minecraft, while lightBlue is the in game name, MCPatcher uses light_blue while Optifine uses lightBlue, I follow the MCPatcher standard.
Also the Stained Glass Panes ctm doesn't currently display correctly in MCPatcher or Optifine, Optifine shows the black and pink chequerboard on the inside surfaces while MCPatcher shows just the standard panes (not joined).
EDIT: Changed the matchBlocks so it works in both MCPatcher vs Optifine.
The "minecraft:" prefix is optional with MCPatcher but looks like Optifine requires it, I've added it for the silver glass and is in the next release (John Smith Legacy 1.8.4 v1.3.14).
Here's a quote from the MCPatcher help files, looks like Optifine requires the full name.
In 1.7, blocks are referred to by name rather than number. Numerical IDs are supported for older blocks, but newer blocks will be name only. Stone blocks for example can be referred to as
1 (not recommended)
minecraft:stone (full name)
stone (name without prefix)
just wondering if the texture pack will ever be updated with higher resolution textures for rabbits? The pack looks amazing, everything is pretty great, then there's these low res. bunnies hopping around....

They are on the list but have not been done yet (along with Guardians and others), hopefully sooner rather than later.
EDIT: John Smith Legacy 1.8.6 v1.3.16, finally got around to making the Rabbit
textures & tweaked the Chainmail to better match the other armour.

To: JimStone,
I recently started using JS Legacy again after I had taken a break from some of my MC projects for a couple months or so.
I started playing with JS Legacy again today to start some new projects, and I gotta say: wow....this resourcepack never ceases to amaze me!
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Thank you so much for your continued work and support of this amazing RP! I'm not sure I'd enjoy playing MC nearly as much without it, as I am pretty hooked on it. I also love the fact that you can play on it with vanilla without using optifine or mcpatcher. That's very important to me because I much prefer running a vanilla client for the stability. (I've experienced lots of crashes with modded clients).
Anyway, Thanks again for the support on the pack, and nice recent update with the rabbits!
(P.S. I saw my name in the update notes as a thanks for the cauldron bug report thing in one of the old versions. Epic.).
EDIT: I found a minor bug. The icon for the tripwire hook in the inventory is messed up. The hook displays fine when placed down though. Just thought I'd mention it.

Thanks for your kind words.
Tripwire Hook
Any texture that has transparent pixels can make small white lines on the model on where they join unless you get rid of the transparent pixels (the wood background on the texture).
This used to happen on Fences, Cauldron and many others, they were easy to fix but the Tripwire is a little unique as the game uses the same texture for the held item and the placed block.
Notice the transparent pixels on the edges of the tripwire hole.
I've managed to split the two (item and model textures) but the model is quite porly implemented, I may redraw the Tripwire model in the future to fix this issue but in the mean time I've made a workaround.
John Smith Legacy 1.8.7 v1.3.17, just a few small tweaks, bug fixes and a new animated Command Block!
Keep up the great work!!!

I looked into it some more and it's because you are playing on Fast Graphics.
The CTM (random textures) only have the transparent leaves, not the opaque leaves like in the blocks directory (used for Fast Graphics).
eg:-
leaves_oak.png
leaves_oak_opaque.png
There's no way to automatically swap textures in the CTM depending on Fast or Fancy graphics, you would have to change the textures yourself.
Another option is to just remove the random leaves for Oak and Birch from the CTM directory, then the normal opaque textures would be used
Note that this only effects the 1.7.10 packs as leaves are all transparent in 1.8.3 and the game does the opaque bit for you.

Hey, Glowstrontium
Just a quick question:
is it possible for you to make a 128x or 256x for few mods that is supported by this JohnSmith resource pack?
OMG 64X AT LAST! Thank you!
Please, update the customizer. There are some missing textures.
http://flying-sheep.github.io/Texture-Pack-Customizer/#
I want the old bread, stone sword, block breaking animation, etc.
just wondering if the texture pack will ever be updated with higher resolution textures for rabbits? The pack looks amazing, everything is pretty great, then there's these low res. bunnies hopping around....
Minecraft 1.6 introduced the split textures (rather than terrain.png) so the customiser is only for the older releases of the game.
If you are playing on 1.6 or greater and want some of the alternate textures then they are in a download on the main site (near the bottom).
They are on the list but have not been done yet (along with Guardians and others), hopefully sooner rather than later.
