Hey o!
So we have a new site.
Some features of it, is a blog that allows for contributors to get information out, and a place for download links to be posted.
Hey everyone! Remember me? I'm still here trying to make the x64 textures for this pack although it's difficult because I have very little time to do so at the moment. I've made a few more textures but they are not finished completely yet, more coming soon !
Good to see you back Titan! I've set up a github for the 64x pack, I haven't completed too many more x64 textures, but I've got a few that are almost finished.
The original Tulips drawn by me in my honest opinion are in more of a faithful style when the new Tulips (and all the new flowers) drawn by JonnnLeee better match the John Smith Style.
As for the potions, the colours come from Minecraft and not the texture pack, custom colours can be added using mcpatcher's custom colours but I've not added them yet.
While maintaining this texture pack, I've found that you can never please everyone and I've always encourage people to make there own custom version using textures from the alternate sheets or previous version of the pack for personal use.
As for Optifine, I address this a few pages back, but to summarize Optifine is not up to spec on block names just yet as they still use Block ID's, Block names have been in use since Minecraft 1.7 was released and 1.8 will be out in a few months so Optifine needs this to be sorted out sooner rather than later (they may have fixed this issue in the latest OptiFine 1.7.9 HD U D2, but I've not had the time to test that release).
The John Smith Legacy Resource pack in no way requires mcpatcher but using it does bring the best out of the pack, including custom colours, better grass, connected textures, random mobs, lightmaps, better skies and more.
Hello, i'm a huge fan of the JohnSmith texture pack, but there is one thing that have always anoyed me. It's the different colours of grass you get, depending of biomes. Is there any way to change that, so it is gonna stay the same no matter what? Thank you in advance!
The different colours are a standard Minecraft thing but they can be changed with a resource pack to any colour you want (pink grass maybe?).
Anyway if you just make these two images in the pack to one green colour then the grass will be just that one colour in all the biomes.
Am I able to include an edited version of this texture pack in a download? I made a few changes to mine, and plan on making my world available for download soon. Only one change is essential, is that is one that gives the Pink Wool block a texture like that of a crate (another member made it and I've recieved permission to make it available on that end).
The problem is that they'll see seemignly random, out of place Pink Wool collections scattered about. I could just link users to the texture pack and include the crate texture and instruct them where to put it, but it'd be simpler if I could include both ready to go if possible.
I glanced over the website and first post and didn't see anything mentioned about being able to redistribute this or not. Is this okay?
hello i am using mac i have tried using mcpatcher and using all on and then all on except hd textures my issue is that on this pack the text does not appear kinda making it hard navigating and understanding while on sphax the textures still do not load Pls Help and also i see the texture pack is rendered fine The numbers and text Like I said IS ALL that is wrong {Sorry If you dont understand}
I've also added a FAQ to the Contact section of my site, only one question at the moment but will add more as and when question are asked.
EDIT:
Snapshot time again.
Here are the new textures for the latest 14w25b snapshot, as Minecraft can load more than one pack the Snapshot textures are in their own pack, they will be added to the normal pack when 1.8 is officially released, see the Instructions section on the John Smith Legacy site for help on using more than one Resource Pack.
This is for Minecraft 1.8 snapshots, see the changelog for all the details.

from what i understand optifine is actually behind on texture conventions, aside from generally not always giving a noticeable gain in frames(i know i dont)
Some of these are already in certain packs like FTB Ultimate and Direwolf20. I converted IC2CA for 1.4.7 into Faithful and would likely do so for John Smith once I can get it to work for 1.6.4. I have all of these mods working in my custom 1.6.4 pack based on Direwolf20.
Does this resourcepack support Biomes o' Plenty, Metallurgy, Thaumcraft, Ars Magica and Tinker's Construct all for 1.6.4, perchance? And if not, are there any plans to provide support for any of these mods? My biggest concerns are with Biomes o Plenty and Metallurgy, both of which have a lot of world-gen features that only really work with the vanilla or vanilla-like resourcepacks. I could probably redo the ores for the other three on my own.
Random textures in Vanilla Minecraft in the new snapshots.
Minecraft now uses models for all the blocks and has now added blockstates (almost like mcpatcher properties files).
I was messing around with the new random rotated faces and though that maybe it could be used for random textures.
This can now be done in Vanilla without game modifications, this does open up some great possiblities and may save a bit of programming time on mcpatcher if vanilla now supports random textures.
This gives the same effect without needing mcpatcher, it's not quite as advanced so no connected textures yet but you never know in the future as this bit is still in flux.
Here's a great page with some of the new blockstates information.
Best to check the Github repo for all the modded Minecraft stuff, if it's not there then it probably doesn't exist but it does look like a popular mod so someone may pick it up in the future.
Thanks for the replies, I've since gotten the pack downloaded.. However, I've run into a bit of a problem.
Whenever I use this resource pack ALL of my grass in the game is a white-ish gray in colour. I have the latest version of MC Patcher, the latest version of Java, I've done a clean reinstall of Minecraft several times and tried it with and without mods, but no matter what the grass is always gray. I keep Better Grass disabled and I've tried setting it not to modify swamp foilage and colours. I am using MC 1.6.4, might that have something to do with it? And if so is there a way to fix it?

Maybe try Optifine? I actually use and prefer it.

Greg's Lighting
Witchery
Blood Magic
Forbidden Magic
Soul Shards
Reliquary
Lycanite's Mobs

Download the John Smith Legacy snapshot pack for the example above as it will explain it better as to where files go and you can test it in the game.
Now all we need is random entities and I will be much happier.
