Minecraft doesn't seem to reconise the JSTR pack from GitHub as a resorse pack! Help!
Regarding Github, that is correct that it is not in a valid resource pack format as not everyone requires every mod available on the repo. The way that it is laid out is as follows:
--Mod name
-- assets folder
-- folder as named in the mod's jar/zip for textures
-- any texture files available
(ignore the colors, tis how the code tag likes to misbehave sometimes)
I'm guessing that this folder/naming convention was for the now retired patcher where it searched the top level folders for the mods you chose then merged the sub folders in to your texture pack's assets directory. What you (or anyone else having the same concern) would need to do is d/l the repo as a zip, open the folders individually and move the assets folder for each chosen mod to the texture pack zip... While inefficient to d/l the full repo, it is essentially the same method that is required by other resource packs that have mod support...

Hey,
I'm using textures from both JSL and JSC, any plans on x64? There were some x64 I downloaded from the old site, are there any more, where can I get them?

Some textures were made but I have no plans on doing a 64px pack as I just prefer the look of the 32px pack, 64px packs just lose that pixel game look.
Hi! I'm new here, played minecraft a lot and came back. I used johnsmith's legacy back when i played and i loved it! The only problem is that I remember the older website, we could customize our pack with picking some textures for some blocks. I loved this addition since I found some of the alternative blocks very cool! Sadly, this feature is not present on the new website. I assume it was a lot of work and that you don't have the time to hold the hand of everyone who wants to customize. I'm not familiar with pack editing, but i guess i could figure it out with some tutorials. My only problem is that i can't find the old textures for alternative blocks! Is there somewhere i could find them all?
The customizer was a little easier to do on a website when the pack had mainly just two texture sheets, the resource pack are now individual files so it's a little easier to move the files around yourself.
Btw, I have an issue with the skin, it doesn't appear properly...
It would seem that hires 1.8 Steve is not backwards compatible with Minecraft 1.7.9, so I've added the new Steve to the Snapshot packs instead and put the older version back in the two release versions of the packs.
Just download it again and it should all be good now.
Hello. This was my first installed texture pack and I just finished doing all that stuff and I activate it and all the words are chopped up white rectangles (on the menu). Why is that happening? How can I fix it? Please help because I really want to use this texture pack.

The short answer is your graphics card doesn't have enough texture ram to display the large font texture (usually issues with laptops).
See this post a few pages back as this issue comes up every now and again and is quite an easy fix.
it it just me or the CTM doesn't work with optifine ??!
that's my question I searched a lot in the files I don't know what's the problem
it works great with other packs but just this one optifine doesn't seem to be working !!

sorry if there any mistakes in my English it's not my native Language
With that said I have to admit I am a bit confused. I usually manage to figure out stuff by my self. But now I just don't know what pack to use for MagicWorld 2, MC 1.6.4 so if you (or any one else) could give me a link to the appropriate pack I can handle it from there.
Thanks for your kind words.
I only look after the Vanilla pack, for the modded game look for the JohnSmith Technician's Remix.
The site has only just been started but it has some good people looking after is and the modded pack will be expanding in the future.
They have just added mod pack specific resource packs, the modded pack thread on the FTB forum is the best place to look at for modded game discussions.
Please note that the Main downloads for the JS Legacy vanilla packs can still be found at www.johnsmithlegacy.co.uk/. as Jimstonecraft is maintaining those.

I work with mobile games a lot, so I know how valuable a good bug report is. Glad it helped, dude.
Don't see anything in the repo for it and at near 200 files it may take some time to support

If you mean the dark neck thing, no I've not looked at it yet, maybe when 1.8 comes out.
On another note it's.......
Snapshot time again!!!
Only one tweak and one new texture.

In 1.7, blocks are referred to by name rather than number. Numerical IDs are supported for older blocks, but newer blocks will be name only.
Stone blocks for example can be referred to as:-
I've been using the full name version as I can see the future with modded textures being much easier to implement, a made up example could be:-
So each mod could use it's own prefix, this would make the block ID conflicts you get with the modded game a thing of the past.
Optifine's CTM is based on mcpatcher but it's not quite as up to date, hopefully this will be sorted out soon.
The last John Smith Legacy pack to use block ID's for the CTM was v1.2.13 - 20th March 2014 for Minecraft 1.7.5.
When Minecraft 1.8 is released things are going to change quite a lot, it will take a little time for mcpatcher and Optifine to catch up.
