So, I'm working on Biomes O' Plenty support, and basically I'm doing all the blocks that can either be photo-edited or replaced by other blocks from other mods like extrabiomes, and I have to say, whoever did the fancy leaves for EBXL support did a horrible job because there are AA artifacts all over these leaves. Was that a result of file compression or did someone just not know how to save files to support alpha levels?
Here's some bonus origin grass - yeah, I know it is barely anything but most of my time today has been focused on getting fancy leaves to look good. Is it bright and obnoxious enough? I was going for the original alpha feel that biome wants to replicate so I made sure it would make eyes bleed as effectively as possible.
(If you can't tell, I hate the look of alpha Minecraft :P)

The EBXL leaves are all messed up, due to photoshop really ing up when saving. I think it happened with glow, not sure. There should've been a fix by now.

I use paint.NET currently, and it seems to work with saving, although due to paint.NET's shoddy select tool I'd be open to any alternative that is not GIMP. (I hate GIMP's UI)
I can just copypasta resources between BOP and EBXL if it helps.
Edit: Celstial crystal from BoP:
Used one of the glowstone textures as a base.
I noticed you have to turn custom colors off for BoP to function correctly aesthetically - I would like to find a way to fix that so that custom colors can be compatible with modded biomes, is that possible?
John smith was my first texture pack, it is my current texture pack, and it will be my last texture pack. I love it! It's absolutely amazing! I've been in Minecraft somewhere from 1-2 years and only a month after starting I wondered if it was possible to change some of the textures (because it seemed obvious the way Minecraft worked). I had a look at many other packs, but none of them I liked, they didn't suit me. It came down to Dokucraft and John Smith. I don't know how to describe why I chose John Smith over Dokucraft, but it was a good choice!
I later started customising it, combining new and old textures, making my own animations and connected textures. New textures for Technic Pack/Tekkit and Feed the Beast when it didn't have some. Changing textures like the smooth stone into the current 'rocky' stone along with changing the ores. After this, I realised I had the perfect combinations of textures from John Smith new, old, Legacy, and my own.
Problem is, sometimes the look of items can be... restricted by the low resolution (32x). So I set myself the challenge of taking John Smith to the next level; completely re-making the current John Smith Legacy (Default) pack into 64x64 textures. Right now i've only re-made 34 items. Mostly tools like the swords and pickaxes. I've also done 2 blocks; the Crafting Table and bedrock. I really don't like the bedrock I tried, but I took much less time on it than the others.
If you want a challenge, you can help change some of the blocks into 64x! So far i've textured:
Once again, John Smith is an amazing texture pack!
Those textures are amazing. You've convinced me to start working on 64x textures, for vanilla at least. There's no way that we're doing 64x mod textures. That would take about 2 years to finish.
Those textures are fantastic. I'll definitely help with the 64x textures. I have a few 64x blocks that I was working on a couple of months ago, I just need to finish them off!
Please keep up this good work! Unfortunately there is no good texture support available for this awesome mod.
If you need help just ask me, I will try my best...
Much appreciated. I also fully agree, which is why I'm doing it - even if it just involves photo-editing textures. Also, here's an update on me fixing those leaves:
And here's my lazy barley field - just replaced the barley with one of the wheat textures since it seemed pretty pointless to make an entirely new texture :V

If you say "plz" because it's shorter than "Please," I'll say "No" because it's shorter than "Yes."
I will more than likely need to draw the flower textures myself, but because so many of JSL's textures have alpha AA on them, I don't think I can do a very good job, so another person knowledgeable about alpha AA might have to redo mine.

I like how you have used that sandstone texture, because it looks really nice with this color. And the work you have done so far is great. I am happy that someone make Biomes o' Plenty support, because I have started using it lately.
I'm glad this is appreciated. Unfortunately I haven't been able to figure out how to get the biome colors to play nice with custom colors, so you still need to disable it if you want the full effect in your biomes (which sucks because I really like JSL's shadow effect.)
Aside from a couple misc things, I'm almost done with all the blocks I can just recycle other parts of the pack for, which means that my progress will both slow down significantly and that what I draw will most likely not match up with the pack's theme, but I am still going to try. I will upload the BoP texture folder with all my edits in it, you just put the folder in your texture pack's mods folder and it should mostly work. (I hope)
Edit: I have seen the promise land and been graced by its majesty!
WOW, Kazekai, those are looking AMAZING!! I do hope that you continue working on the BoP textures, and eventually finish them; I've been wanting to add that mod for a while now.
You're right, it does look a bit jagged, but not much can be done. I tried lighting the pixels at the edge up a bit to make it look smoother, seemed to do the job well enough
Could always make the top line of pixels a bit darker as well, but that does look a lot better.
So here's what I did with BoP support today:
And here's a magic tree:

Does JSTR for 1.5.x support MineFactory Reloaded? The last changelog entry, from almost a month ago, mentions MFR textures being converted but I'm not sure whether that means they're finished. MFR isn't even listed in the patcher.

We're not going to convert any more textures to 1.5 format, mainly because 1.6 is introducing a huge change in the way texture packs are formatted. So, sorry if you use 1.5 for mods, but it's not going to happen. We will be re-introducing JSTR for 1.6, outside of what we have already converted.

And here's a bonus, I just threw these two textures in from the alternate textures thread. (Hopefully nobody minds.)
Crag rock
Quicksand

Still working on the trees.
I'm so happy that you are doing these! I was considering of redoing my Misa HD pack to look more like JS, but this is better!
