I'd like to reitterate that the latest JSTR is missing the firework's particles completely. Should have to do with the particles.png file. I Just tested the latest JS Legacy (non-mod support) and the file has working firework particles.
I apologize if this has already been made clear, but does all three versions of this pack contain random block textures, and/or random mob textures? The old JohnSmith had this, correct?
Hi guys, I just wanted to contribute with ideas. I know I am just a fan but I figured I may have some ideas you might like, so pardon the fan-gasm but I love this pack!!
Ehem... now for my suggestions.
1. Perhaps a more altered texture for the dropper block, I know it doesn't seem like it but I have a lot of dispensors and droppers in my world and I often times forget what is what because they look so similar. Perhaps a more dramatic face or a marking like the Trapped Chests. Again, just a suggestion.
2. Perhaps an alternate download (for the latest snapshots as well) for different wool textures for builders? You already have two building wools, the light grey and the white. Perhaps add a few more and have the files able to replace whatever color wool you don't use too often. I personally don't use the off color wools like Turquoise so I'd change that to something that looks like Jamziboy's version of thatch.
3. This one is mod support. I will try to get into contact with Pam and see if it is allowed (and if she will update her mod for the snapshots later on) and perhaps have JS textures for all of her crops and berries and such. I love farming in minecraft and often times play with Pam's Harvestcraft. Also, a mod support for Buildcraft would be so astounding that my head might explode with overexposure to awesomeness.
4. Randomobs for Spiders and Cave Spiders and perhaps things like Blazes, Ghasts, and Zombie Pigmen.
5. Animated Textures. Since Mojang has now made it slightly easier to incorporate animations in minecraft, why not update a few. A few examples would be regular glowstone pulsing softly or flickering, Tall grass swaying, certain ores glistening, the sprites for water and lava buckets having its contents moving, perhaps animated netherrack like the one in this video . Also, personally I love the door in this modified JS texture pack, it is more Johnsmith-like in my opinion.
6. Somehow make a different texture for coal.
That is all I would like to see. I understand I am only one fan but I thought I would offer some of my fan likes and see where it goes. If anything, I would very much appreciate it if at the very least, someone could acquire that animated netherrack and that particular door in the video previously mentioned so that I may use it for personal use.
Thank you for listening guys
Edit: My conversation with the creator of Pam's Harvestcraft
I personally love your Harvestcraft since you first developed it and wanted to ask on behalf of the community behind the popular JohnSmith Legacy textury pack if they could create textures JohnSmith style for your modpacks in preparation for Minecraft 1.5
Response from MatrexsVigil: I'm always okay with folks making re-textures of my mods. =)
(so the creator of Pam's Harvestcraft is allowing for textures to be made for her mod if that is at all possible guys for the future 1.5 update.)

JamziBoy's animated netherrack:
The door you like is from Ovo's Rustic Redemption, but there is a similar door on the John Smith page of Minecraft Customizer you can download.
EDIT: Bah, nevermind. Since this pack is now a community project, I may as well post my terrain alternate collection for others to use.
@Glow: I figured out the download issues. Thanks for your response.
For anyone using OSX who is having difficulties with the download: Archive Utility does not like the archive format of the zip file, and iZip also did not handle it well. I used a different unarchiver called SmartZipper that did the trick just fine. It's not free, though.
Well the next snapshot is out (13w04a), looks like we need two new textures because you can now point Dispensers and Droppers in six directions now rather than just the original four.
Made a video for this texture pack showing why and why not download this pack. File is still corrupted and can't be expanded on mac.
Sorry I'm no pro, but a video needed to be made (wish I had more practice).

I too have a Mac and have encountered this problem. My alternative Archive Utility is called the Unarchiver and is found in the Mac App Store. It unzips the zip file and places the folder onto your desktop like a regular download would. From there you just go through the regular process with texture packs and it works great. I hope this helped.
Just to let everyone know I have updated JSTR to support the latest version of Thaumcraft (mostly - some of the golem GUIs might be missing a few things), and made new textures for IC2 & GregTech batteries.
Awesome pack, use it all the time! I was wondering if it was possible to patch for the mod 'Traincraft' blocks and also trains, as the seem out of place in my John Smith Technican's Remix world. Thanks in advance!

You know, had you read just two posts above you you would have seen this:

Nuts. Wish I'd seen that before I spent $4 on SmartZipper. Oh well. :/
Well I just wanted to thank MinerN8 publically for helping me with certain textures. It has been pretty awesome figuring out how the new texture packs work and I learned a lot. I've found just about every texture I need. Thanks guys.
Last suggestion though, I know there are already a lot of variations of JS textures but it would be great to have all of these texture files inside a gigantic and organized folder like the 7 different doors MinerN8 has in his collection. It would be epic to acquire these.
In fact, I am going to attempt to do so. Basically I will try to separate all textures into what 1.5 will eventually use (the single texture files) and give them to this great community of JSL for people to use and work with to make thier texture packs more thier style. Example: MinerN8 has two textures for the cauldron above. The basket one could be turned on for things like desert maps and the other for more magical or gothic maps. It all depends.
Thanks for the inspiration guys, I am gonna get right to work.

The texture sheets I posted have every texture from version 8.1 to 9.7 of John Smith, everything from the Minecraft customizer, and everything from FlyingSheep's customizer, as well as several community textures (like JamziBoy's basket cauldron texture).
I went through all of the textures I could find and organized them for personal use--now that John Smith is a community effort I figured others might find them useful.

Ok, your Thaumcraft support is just brilliant! Gorgeous. My deepest gratitude for continuing this project.
Could you guys delete the frame from the white wool or use the crossblocks John Smith made? The way it is now it looks strange in a Tudor build.
Use the search feature; this was asked a while back. Just replace the wool texture with the regular one and delete the ctm info that pertains to the wood-containing wool, afaik.
I noticed that the compass in the most recent version has the stock 16x pointer needle. The cludgy 16x needle on the nice 32x JS compass looks pretty ugly IMO. I had posted a compass a page or two back that's been updated completely, anyone has my permission to use this as they see fit. Also, the animation text file for the compass and clock are not needed as far as I can tell, there isn't one in the default pack, as they are animated in game depending on the time or player position, not constantly like other animations.
If there's interest, and I find the time, I may update the current JS compass with the new needle graphic, here's the one I'm currently using, it's a slight modification of the older JS compass, or a fan upload, I forget which at this point.

In my earlier post about m CTM fixes, I found one minor bug. I didn't add a metadata tag to the properties file for cobble stone walls so both cobble stone walls and mossy stone walls looked the same.
JS Tech Remix needs to be fixed...
