I hope to spice it up with stuff that's not exactly recycled, but I suck at design/creative process, so bear with me. It's not a product of lazyness, just lack of ideas.
I've been meaning to try out this pack for a long time, wish I'd try'd it earlier now; I've almost finished Vech's Spellbound Caves and it looks amazing with it. Anyway back to the pack. This is one of the best textures in my opinion. The subtle mix of old school, cartoon and a touch of realism gives an incredible atmosphere to the pack. I just hope you will finish the zombie villager and blaze skin soon, they stick out like sore thumbs. Congradulations on an excellent pack.
Oh yes, if anyone could post screenshots of builds utilizing oddball blocks I'd appreciate it. The problem with blocks like say, the refined blocks(iron block, diamond block) is I have absolutely no idea who uses them and how. I personally don't use any of those blocks because of their cost and the fact that with default they don't really make good building materials. Even wool blocks I tend to not use personally when building because with a wooly texture they tend to not make good walls or such.
So the more I can see these weird blocks being used, the more I can tailor their designs to what people actually use them for.
You should try going into creative and experimenting with the various blocks you don't use.
The problem is in default(which is what I base my building standards off of. I don't want peoples builds to only look good with my texture pack), those blocks just don't appeal to me. Therefor even with experimenting they're not blocks that I'd want to use. That's why I want to get a feel for them by how others actually use them. I mean, if I hear someone say "man, those diamond blocks are ugly!" I want to know in what circumstance are they ugly. I can make many appealing textures that look great on their own, but that doesn't mean they'll look good in an actual build(a build tailored to standard minecraft, not specialy builds with say... a futuristic theme).
Simply put, the more I can see how others use these blocks, the more I can attempt to tailor my thought process to work with those uses. For example I've had thoughts of turning them into crates of diamonds, much like how the TNT is. But that won't work if they say... use diamond tiles as floors mostly. So the more input, the better.
Those kinds of blocks do seem to be used only by creative builders. From what I've seen looking at a lot of builds, they are mostly used as decoration. Granted nearly all creative maps use Doku, so maybe they just use them that way because they look good with Doku.
Anyway, here are my suggestions:
Iron block is used the most and usually as you would use Iron, sometimes in large quantities. Such as an Iron forge, or reinforcement around a wood structure. So the texture could look like a large metal plate, or perhaps many smaller plates bolted together and tiling.
Gold Block is used almost as much as Iron, and often to accentuate other blocks, or to act as something made of gold, like a statue. So the texture should be something that repeats well, and stands out.
Diamond is used the least, and usually on it's own. I would just be creative with the texture and make it very decorative.
Lapis block is rarely used, sometimes as a blue roof, or on flooring to add color. Not really sure what to do with that texture, I used to make thick shingles, though now I went crazy with CTM to make it more unique.
Emerald block isn't used much, but probably only cause it's new. Seems to be used in similar ways to diamond.
The new redstone block I would just make it look very decorative, but still discernible as redstone. The only people who will use this is likely just redstone builders, so it wouldn't be seen anyway.
As for wool, it's used as walls a lot more than anything else, and white is used way more than other colors.
I agree that the metal and diamond blocks are too expensive to use in large quantities. Consider making them work together with a cheaper block, so that you can insert a single expensive block into a wall as an ornament. Alternatively, you could try for a design that will work as a pillar base or topper.
Man, how I do love this texture pack. I use WAY more than any other texture pack! Keep doing the good work! And by the way, is there a way to change the textures like you did from DustyCraft V1? I'd like to see the cobble and the ores gray like it used too.
I know a while back you said that you didn't have plans to ever do any mod textures, but I see you're really getting back into texturing so I was curious as to whether or not you might have had a change of heart! Haha. I love this texturepack to death, but I suck at texturing, and I also have two mods that just look absolutely ugly when used with your pack.
Dusty textures = freaking beautiful.
Mod textures = kill me.
I don't know if you use any mods yourself, but I would recommend Metallurgy 2 and The Twilight Forest so that way if you fall in love with these mods, you'll just have to texture them!
I actually really like this! To me it has a nice blend of toon and fantasy, all pulled together really well. I'll be using this a lot now. Keep up the epic work!

You will change the skins of the NPC?
I loved texture pack and loved all armors (mainly leather, because it's like a samurai). This was one of the best texture packs (maybe the best) I used
By the way, ever since the new snapshots a new bug has cropped up... and I fear it's going to make its way to 1.5. Apparently ATI users are having issues with textures having gaps in them, including me. In my opinion while the bug is not literally gamebreaking, it makes the game unbearibly ugly. If this bug gets through to 1.5 I won't even be able to take snapshots for my texture pack because it has such an overbearing effect on the visuals.
If you have an ATI graphics card I implore you to download one of the snapshots and see if you're having issues, and if so PLEASE vote to hopefully let Dinnerbone and co. put this on a higher priority. It's been about 5 or so snapshots without it being addressed.

Hm, this reminds me of this: http://www.minecraft...g-texture-pack/
when graphics cards try to force anti-aliasing in Minecraft which it doesn't support natively, causing grid lines. On the off chance, hopefully fiddling with your graphics cards settings/installing Optifine might solve this.
Yes, it's easily very similar to the effect of forced AA... but I have triple checked my GPU settings and nothing is being forced. That's a big problem, because people not experiencing the glitch think it's just people messing with their settings, but it's not. It's a byproduct of the new texture rendering Dinnerbone has added.
Ah, I figured that it was an actual glitch, but one can hope for an easy fix. If I start seeing threads popping up about it I'll be sure to direct them to the bug report about this.
Well, time to jump back on the DustyCraft bandwagon. I always loved this pack, and I love it more now. I will always admire your work as a texture artist, and one day, I will aspire to be as great as you at it. Awesome job, Mr. Dusty!

Here's what my game looks like in the snapshots(click the image to see the full scale. It's shrunken down so the gaps are hard to see):
I have this problem as well, although the effect at a distance is not as extreme as in that screenshot. Although maybe that's because I don't play on fullscreen.... must test.
