Lou's Green Woods was initially released under the label "Mihtranis" on 15 September 2012 for a private server. During that time, I was new to pixel art and texture packs in general. The pack was not expected to be finished.
With the support of my friends on the server, however, I was encouraged to continue. Many hours were poured into the project in the beginning. The pack was coming together quickly.
A few months of work passed and I grew tired of doing something I wasn't good at. Don't get me wrong; I liked my designs, but probably because I designed them for myself. I got discouraged when I saw other 16x packs on the market and announced a halt of development.
The default texture pack was my main for a month or two before I grew sick of it. A big chunk of time was devoted to finding a good texture pack online; one I could stick with for more than a few days.
Around that time, I realized that I spaced out on an important design aspect of a texture pack -- the usability. All these packs "looked" better, but I noticed I'd just try to look for better ones. So, instead of focusing on the beauty, I applied these new ideas with a pack restoration -- Ranistortion.
Over the next few years, I worked on-and-off on the pack. I didn't play on that server anymore, so everything was for myself. I stopped caring that I wasn't the best texture pack artist out there.
Instead, I focused on what I could do -- making the pack fit in its own theme; to be playable for long periods of time. It was designed to "get used to". Looked decent, but never distracted from the way of the game.
Theme
The pack is designed to be an alternative to the default texture pack with a mix of my personality. It has vibrant colors and detailed textures to blocks. Regarding realism: there are some realistic things here and some completely made-up stuff there.
Attention has been allocated to making the pack playable all the time; not most or some of the time. Blocks and items are not distracting but don't fail to appeal when observed.
Recently, I started on a new project: a mod pack! The mod pack is private for my friends and I, but I adjusted the pack's theme to slightly fit the theme of the mod pack. Do not fret, however! It just so happens that the mod pack's theme is a famished forest; something fits with the texture pack!
Please consider that this project was started when I had a low-end laptop. Because of this, some design decisions were made according to my tiny render distance. However, last year I built a high-end desktop computer and have adjusted the pack to accommodate my new, shiny far render distance! (Unfortunately, this also meant that I severely abandoned fast-graphics textures, but it's all fixed in the most recent version!)
A word on MC Patcher's HD fix: sometime after project initiation, I started work on adding OptiFine HD features to make the pack fit well into its theme. I used OptiFine because I actually needed it. Since this pack's used for my mod pack, I can't regularly add HD features because both MC Patcher and OptiFine are incompatible with the mod pack. Not sure if this'll change.

Good work Nurd!
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I do not fear using my true name, or showing my face. Not because I am arrogant, but because I am no different on screen than I am in person. In all realities, my name is Kyle.
When life gives you a potato, wonder why the heck life just gave you a potato. Why not something else? Like money? Or a combustable lemon? No, you get a potato. Nothing else.
At last, another update has arrived. This Friday has come pretty fast, and it was a busy week, so, other than the new grass, this update isn't a big one. As a treat to the Annwn server and any others who it may concern, I have provided a link to my first ever texture pack, as promised. NurdoidzCraft. Thank you for your support, guys! I have grown with this pack, and I'm sure you guys have too, so far. To be honest, I expected this pack to drop dead after a few releases like NurdoidzCraft... my many thanks to KyleADunn for supporting the pack by integrating it into the server as the server's texture pack! Anyways, here is what's new:
Spruce foliage, finally!
... and custom pine color! (requires Optifine or MCPatcher)
Changed all grass textures and changed up jungle leaves! ... for experimentation purposes. Tell me if you like!
Improved iron ore... my gosh, this one texture has been changed the most, and I'm still not satisfied!
Added some new items (as well as changing up a bit).
Biome colors have been adjusted to be more dark and less variant. Again, experimenting.
So, before even uploading the updated pack to mediafire, I thought up excuses not to include screenshots, but have not found any this time. Here they are:
Picture of the new jungle look Picture of the jungle, with fast graphics You get the point... (Gosh, it's buggy to do this in Google Chrome)

Updated to v2.0. It would've been a 1.x, but it is now clearly a darker version. Obviously, I have given enough of a clue to a lighter version in the future, the Day version. I will update the screenshots in the OP as well as add a big update for 2.1, maybe even work on the Day version a little.

Retired StaffOh, I'm terribly sorry! I did not know that I could not post updates for each new version...
Edit: I think I see what I did wrong. I forgot to separate the pre-release to the actual release in the change log. Ok. I'll fix it right now.
