About Tetrachromatosis:
I began work on this pack 10 months ago as an experiment in making the textures as simple as possible and yet still obviously understandable. It started out as a black and white texture pack, but since then has evolved into the way that I now see and think of Minecraft. I hope you all can enjoy the fruits of my labor and I hope you have the desire to tell me if you don't. Feel free to comment and suggest changes, especially specific problems with certain textures or parts of textures.
v3 Screenshots.
v2 Screenshots.
v1 Screenshots.
Features:
Completely edited terrain.png and items.png files.
Custom colors, connected textures, and custom animations.
Unique style with a (mostly) strict adherence to pattern and simplicity.
Each texture has 4 or less colors when possible. (tetrachrome)
Upcoming Updates:
Editing the remaining mobs.
Editing ender chest.
Editing paintings.
Complicating the GUI.
You may use this texture pack however you wish, so long as no money is made and credit is given.
This means:
Using it as a template.
Including textures and animations in other texture packs which are distributed without advertisement and without charge.
Using it in videos.
This does not mean:
Using textures or animations in a pack that is distributed through adf.ly or similar services.
Posting content from this pack on YouTube or other texture pack sites without crediting the author.
Perhaps I should have more pictures available, but for now I have enough to understand what this pack is about.
I have to ask, though, did either of you play with this pack? I'm interested in your opinions on my animations as I'm quite proud of them, especially lava.
The flatness of the textures is intentional and part of the experiment I undertook in making this pack, but I do understand the criticism and when I get around to finishing up the rest of the textures and the GUI, I will probably take the time to shade some more. I do think shading sand will be better, but I don't want to use too many colors on certain textures because that defeats the idea behind the pack.
I like the Lava the most, probably, but I hate the flat colors and shading. Some things don't have a great color choice, either. I think the sand would be amazing if it had a bit more color & shading.
The animations are quite decent. The speed for the flowing ones is perfect IMO, but it is way too fast for "standing" water and lava. It is really hard on the eyes on larger spaces like oceans. I think you should tone down the green parts of the water a bit aswell because. Also the fire doesn't look much like fire (it is too bright), but as I said that's just my opinion. The portal is really nice though
I did slow down still lava, but I will look at slowing them down more and tweaking them a bit. I spent a lot of time on the fire animation and discarded four or five previous versions and started from the ground up every time, so that is my best attempt so far. I'm sure with all this practice I've been getting that I'll be able to make better fire soon, lol.
I think that the biggest problem are the blocks like smoothston, wool etc because it really looks like the whole terrain is bucketfilled. Whereas the grass is okay because you have a pattern that breaks it up nicely.
A funny thing I noticed is that your clay texture would perfectly fit the style of my texture pack
I've done so much tweaking on the grass, so I hope it works fine, lol. I'll see about spending more time on the other textures. I know you've already helped me plenty and I do greatly appreciate your advice and criticism, but I have one more thing to ask of you: the items? I spent much more work making the tools, weapons, and all the various food items look the way I wanted them to. How do you think they turned out?
I checked your topic out, but haven't gotten around to downloading and playing with it yet, but I can definitely see how it would fit with your pack, lol.
This is my first texture pack and is far from the first version of this pack. I have been continually changing it since I started work on the pack and have gone back and edited things I previously thought would be set in stone. It's a lot more work than it seems trying to make it all fit and figuring out how to use the least amount of colors possible while still making it look understandable.
I like the Lava the most, probably, but I hate the flat colors and shading. Some things don't have a great color choice, either. I think the sand would be amazing if it had a bit more color & shading.
Simple packs aren't a reason to ignore shading.
I've actually started working on the sand and soulsand and have started thinking of ideas to make stone and cobblestone look better. I already added some slight depth to grass, too.
Just downloaded your pack, Robomat. I'll play on it tomorrow and give you some feedback.
I didn't want any diagonals in the items, though I did break that rule with all the foodstuffs being trapezoidal in shape. But I thought I'd go with something different on the tools and weapons and I think it works. The angle is off a little bit, but I don't think it's too bad. But then again, I don't get the best fps, so it might not be as noticeable to me.
peytonisgreat, I prefer the default palette, but I'm attempting to stray from it with the mobs more than anything else right now. I've altered some of the colors though, such as redstone, birch, pine, and the sky.
I have a new download file and new screenshots available. Tried some shading out instead of messing with the remaining mobs and the lackluster GUI.
The new pack does look a lot better, but some of the textures look nice (stone, sand) while others (melon, furnace) still have flat areas with no detail. It is a huge improvement, though.
Stone and cobble are really hard to make out, they look too alike (if I'm naming the textures correctly).
The first post has been updated with a new download link and 9 new images. I hope to be able to edit more mobs and GUI screens soon, but for now it seems like my terrain file needs more attention.

Retired StaffOP, add shading and detail, and make the colors not from the default.

I appreciate the feedback, though. I'll keep polishing everything up.
