Horses look great (though it bugs me a little that the dark brown one the donkey have the same colors), the slime block looks quite interesting and the fire is very nice.
Keep up the good work, as always!
Hmmm, it's actually a different colour with a white belly too but I'll make the colour a bit lighter and maybe more tan, see if I can make it look more obviously different from the horses. Thanks for the feedback!
I especially like the slime blocks. (Those are slime blocks right? The swirly, green ones?) Do they look good tiled?
Yup, that's them, and yes, they look fine when tiled. Very obvious that they are tiled but still looks nice because they're mostly see through and also are unlikely to be used as a floor or something where you see 60 of them tiled next to each other
I've finished two of the four horse markings so far, still have yet to start on the armour but I'll get there, trust me! Just need a tiny bit of a break from horses as they're a pain in the **** to texture, the model is really complex and it maps rather strangely.
Anyways, even though I'm taking a break from that I'm still working on stuff - this time it's paintings. Going to have a mix of utility type decorations as well as actual pixel art paintings that I'll make in the coming week.
Here's what I have so far:
Some of the paintings used in a tavern like environment:
Still got crossed swords/axes and shield, billboard/noticeboard with bounty notices and random notes on it, animal pelt (wolf or bear, still yet to decide on which) and possible another painting for the kitchen, maybe with stacked pots or some hanging pans or something.
Out of curiosity, will you be doing a paintings add-on pack with actual paintings as well?
Not initially, but yea, once I've done horses and everything for this update I'll have one with paintings.
For this release at least it's going to have roughly 40% utility stuff like billboards and notices and swords, 60% actual pixel art which I'm currently making.
Alright, got back to the horses and finished off all the patterns. Lots of variation for the horses and none of them look like they've been scribbled on with a pencil which is a plus. I also added a couple more paintings, tweaked cobble for better tiling, made a new jungle log and a new iron block texture. I still have a couple of things on my list before I update: horse armour and the item icons, finish the paintings, new lapis block, new brick block and ctm for slime blocks, the new brick block and a new cobble ctm, most likely repeat (with LOTS more variation).
Seems like a lot but the ctm and new blocks won't take very long. My time is mostly gonna be spent on making the armour suit the player armour (iron will be heavy plate, very knightly, gold will be more lightly armoured, trying to imitate a more greek style to fit the hoplite-esque armour and diamond will be light and elegant, not super heavily armoured but enough to provide good defence) and also finishing the paintings as I have to make new pixel art for all the pictures that aren't turned into swords or shields or something (which is roughly 60% of them, including most of the really big pictures).
Cool Can u also create addon pack with 'vanilla looking' enderman and ender pearl? Personally, I don't like Voidwalkers idea Btw. I still can't accustomed to new stone, it reminds me of the gel or something, maybe it isn't enough sharp? Granite, Diorite and Andesite created by you looks amazing!
Well I probably won't be making a vanilla looking enderman and enderpearl (sorry, just not a priority!) but I did redo the stone, it's a lot more rough now:
Been quite a while since I perused these parts. Member for over three years. How long have you been around? Seems a couple months more.
Sheep, your work continues to astonish me. Dirt and Stone textures look great. Lovin' the updates!
Just wish my client - switched over to a Windows 8 PC - would actually work Minecraft. Thing is so strange, won't let me open any worlds. No errors, just locked, unable to click the play button. Had a trackpad issue, but fixable. Want to play with your resource pack - missed that whole transition, was it painstaking for you to switch formats?
Anyway, continue doing what you're doing, because the mere sight of your work makes me happy!
Woah! MSchwaa! Definitely long time no see, really is good to see an old face around here again though!
Really weird issues with your pc and minecraft too, never heard of anything like that before... Won't let you make any new worlds either?
As for the format change, kahr and dinnerbone both released converter tools to automagically change the format of your texture pack so it fit the resource pack but of course neither did the job perfectly so there was lots of manual fixing - not a huge issue though. The new format is also not too bad now that I'm used to it but terrain.png will always be my favourite. Just really nice seeing all the textures on one big sheet...
Anywho, thank you and I still plan to for the near future anyways. No plans on stopping anytime soon!
PS: people, progress is being made on horse armour:
Yeah, in terms of organization, and convenience the terrain.png will be a dearly missed asset.
Am able to create new worlds, but after quitting the game, the save becomes locked and inaccessible. Will have to go to the Microsoft store to figure the situation out. Might have to contact Mojang through their error progress site.
To stay on point, where would you say your inspiration for this new art comes from? I see influence from Doku's old works. Dokucraft was damn nice up until he redid the colors. Everything desaturated worked for him. No color consistency in the Saga Continues pack.
Really like your choices.
Also suppose, John Smith's old pack shines through, and the work of other successful pixel artists on these forums. So, where do you go for inspiration?

Hmmm, that really is a strange error... I think trying to contact mojang or making a thread in the support or computers & tech sections of the forums are probably your best bet with that.
As for inspiration, I'm taking most of my inspiration nowadays from pixel art I see on pixel joint actually. Really like some of the art there! As well as that there's always inspiration from eld, levaunt, wayuki, steelfeathers, siikikala, frenden/meringue, etc. Basically all my favourite pixel artists and packs on the forums. They're always going to influence me in some way too.
Hey man, it's been so long since I've been active on these forums, let alone these threads. anyways, I've come back to see what progress this project has made whilst I've been having a "fun" time at school Anyways, everything's looking pretty good! The one thing I would say looks a little bit off would be the horse's eyes... I don't know exactly what it is, perhaps the lack of white in the eyes or something. Which is kind of odd since your other mobs don't have white in their eyes, and that looks just fine to me. Maybe it's just because I think of a horse's eye to be a lot larger than a chicken's eye. Anyways, that's my input. I don't know what you can do about it, but I'm not gonna just keep quiet about my opinion. Thanks!
Oh lawdy, sorry guys! In the middle of my exams for uni which is why I've been a little silent - they finish next thursday so I'll post some pics of new stuff then or before then. Still working on it though!
I have completed the gold horse armour completely, steel/iron is about 60% done, diamond I've only done a little bit. As for blocks, I've made a new tallgrass, new brick, new mycelium side and also have a texture ready for the sea lanterns as well as ideas for the prismarine block too. I'm gonna wait till there's a snapshot before I show them though, I wanna make sure the textures I've made for them will actually work in context with where they're found.
I need to finish a new double tall grass, new red sand and the horse armour/icons for them and then I'll release the update. So it will be very soon, within 2 weeks (giving myself a bit more time due to exams).
Oh, just quickly, here's the new bricks and tall grass. Pretty similar to the old ones but much more refined.
Almost there now guys! Just fixing up ctm for new blocks that I've made/changes that I've made. Then I just need to finish up the diamond horse armour and the icons, double tall grass and we're good to go.
Okay, bit of a picture dump. Just some stuff you may or may not have seen that's also done for the update.
New tallgrass ctm
Different coloured leaves, no matter what biome you're in. Acacia have a slight yellow tint, big oak have a blue tint, birch have a yellow/green tint:
New jungle logs! (second from the left)
New diamond block - new lapis coming too. Diamond might change a tiny bit before release as well, something about it I'm not quite happy with just yet...
New normal sand and red sand with ctm:
and of course horsie armour but I'll wait until diamond armour is done first.
Oh god yes. I love the cobble CTM and the jungle logs look great.
I'm not sure about the diamond block though..
How about mossy cobblestone? Will it have CTM like normal cobble too?

Curse PremiumNow that you mention it, yea I do!
I'll add some randomobs slimes in a couple of different colours too, otherwise the random slimeblock colours might seem a little strange too.
Now I'll have to find that list of suggestions/ideas I wrote up...

Curse PremiumWitch will be coming soon actually, I can base it off the villagers so it shouldn't take too long to do. I'll add it to the end of the list up there^
As for the dragon, it'll be one of the last things I do unless it becomes more important to the game somehow (rideable?)
your lore is quite interesting too
please help my dragons
